"I think this is a fair , review , was their today , long wait for food , some staff stated technical problems in kitchen , others stated only one staff member in the kitchen , so going off that all was ok really half way due to service and contradictory staff, the atmosphere was brilliant tho all seemed to be enjoying themselves , the hotness had the doors open at the front allowing a cool breeze , throughout , which also added to the friendly atmosphere within the place , as for the food tho , we had return the first cup back due to having lipstick marks on , bit crazy as it only like 9:30 ish 10am but yer relates to the one member of staff , and they forgot the extra black pudding , but all other extras where added, but the food was to the typical Wetherspoon standard for its breakfast , , however I will be going again none of this criticism, has put me off visiting the place again. I do hope they resolve the kitchen staff issue during the course of the day , as it was only early and the weather is a typical beer day , so I can only presume it should get better , but that’s down to the management,"

I usually walk along the Mersey before/after going to the Balance. Always a welcome and more than a standard Spoons at the Balance. Hamilton Square and Birkenhead Priory are nearby attractions.

This is very friendly, usually quite quiet during the day but that's not to say that there's no customers just that they are generally quietly talking in their groups. A wide range of draught beers (including a varying range of guest ales), spirits, cocktail sharers, as well as a self-serve tea/coffee/hot chocolate machine. It is a Wetherspoons so you may be aware of the Clubs they have on certain mid-week days (Steak Club on Tuesday, for example) where you get a meal for a reduced price than the usual menu price and a drink is included in that price.
