"We had visited a couple of times before around six months ago, a lovely pub with great welcoming atmosphere and lovely smiling staff who couldn’t do enough for you ………. a complete contrast to our latest visit From the moment we arrived the manager barman was Rude and obnoxious it was like our visit was a complete inconvenience to him. As we were already there we put the unfriendly greeting aside and decided to look at the menus and myself and my partner were seated in the dining area…….and then forgotten about, after nearly 20 minutes my partner decided to order the drinks and our choice of two chicken roast dinners at the bar on the way to the toilet, on his return he told me that to get to the toilets you have to pass the kitchen and he could hear the chef shouting and swearing at the waitresses (no wonder they were miserable) we would have left at this point but as the drinks had finally arrived and our meal order was taken we decided we would have to stay. After another 15-20 minutes a waitress came to our table to inform us that the chicken had sold out hours ago and we would have to make another selection no apology at the lack of chicken but this could be forgiven by the way they were mistreated by the chef. So we both chose the beef. It was a long wait for our meals and when they did arrive both were only warm very chewy and not enough gravy by this time we had enough of the horrible experience so we finished what we had and asked for the bill after paying and getting half way home we realised we were overcharged. This used to be a lovely place to come visit on a Sunday drive but now it’s not worth the petrol."

The food was good but at least 6 of our party (group of 18) were overcharged! The owner was irritated and rude when we had to wait for latecomers. Food was a very long time after they arrived. Will not be going again. View menu

A large group of us had lunch on 22 December. We had all preordered our meals and service was quick and accurate. Plates were beautifully hot and the food was excellent. I had the haddock fish cake starter and sea bass main. All very well presented and cooked. Everyone served at the same time by a very efficient waitress. Be I will bring mmy family here soon. Thanks again to the management for this lovely meal.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the food because we didn't get any. We patently waited over 50 minutes for our order to arrive. Not once during that time were we informed by the staff of any delay. No explanation, let alone an apology, was forthcoming. It's as if we were invisible. The worse service I have ever encountered. We decided pay the unfriendly barman for our drinks, advised him we were leaving and why still no apology so we left.

OH and I popped in on the off chance this evening for dinner and we were really impressed. Our starters, Garlic Mushrooms and Salt Pepper Squid, were well presented and really tasty . Our mains, fish chips and Lambs Liver, were just gorgeous. OH's batter was light and crisp and the fish was delicious. My lambs liver was cooked just right and super soft. Totally perfect. The chap serving was attentive and chatty, a really nice guy. The pub is warm and welcoming with a lovely burner keeping everyone warm. A great evening with food I'd thoroughly recommend to everyone. Walked in today and found a lovely welcoming pub serving great beer and a good choice of home cooked food. The staff serving us were attentive, good humoured and efficient. 2 superb fish pies and 2 chicken dishes later we were very impressed. Nice presentation and plentiful portions. Only 2 of us managed a pudding but this was again, plentiful and really well presented. Made to feel very welcome, good ambience, plenty of room inside and a great garden outside. Nicely decorated and well worth a visit. Good for walkers especially and anyone passing through. Good communication too!

We stayed for one night as we were visiting a festival on the Kelmarsh Estate, just a few minutes drive away. Our room was spotless with an ensuite loo and shower. There was also tea and coffee. We thought we'd try the pubs evening meal menu. My partner had the garlic mushrooms starter and Chicken Schitznel main course and I had battered halloumi and the sea bass main. Both were well cooked and delicious. We had a friendly waitress as well. Our meals were excellent value for money. We booked breakfast the next morning at 15 pounds each, so after a goodnights sleep went to the pubs dining area. My partner had a full English and I asked for a mushroom omelette with bacon. There was one slice o...

"I had been reading a lot on Facebook about the pub and the quality of the food on offer. So when my partner suggested an impromptu Sunday lunch I suggested The White Horse. I called to check they would still be serving as time was getting on. I booked a table for 3.30pm. We arrived and were met by very friendly staff who got us drinks and showed us to our table. I had intended to try the new Trio of meats sharing board which had been publicised on Facebook, however it transpires that it had “blown up” and sold out in hours. Also, they were out of beef and Yorkshire puddings. Could have been disappointing but we are both realistic people and understand we had booked last minute and late in the day, the weather was also fantastic so a lot of folks were out and about. The waitress offered us steak in place of beef. When we had asked about the sharing board she asked the kitchen what they could do and they were able to offer some pork belly, which my partner had, I took the steak. We shared bread and olives to start, with some halloumi fries. My partner says they were the best she had ever had. Both dishes were delicious. The main courses were equally delicious. I particularly enjoyed the red cabbage and cauliflower, the pork was moist and sweet, the steak tender. We very much enjoyed our experience and will be back very soon, though we will plan better, book earlier and will give a review on the Trio of meats sharing board very soon. Looking forward to it already. Highly recommended."
