"Chilly Sunday afternoon, 4 of us headed done to The Castle for a roast. Quick service straight away, drink on table in under 5 minutes. Spot on. All 4 ordered roast: chicken, 2 pork and 1 beef. Slightly smaller portion than I was expecting, and no gravy on the side, just what you were given which was a little too thin for my liking, but tasted ok. We all enjoyed the food and the drinks and deserts came around and they were good too, no complaints really. I had the cheese for desert and they gave me tons of crackers and loads of cheese an excellent portion of cheese and great value. I like this place a lot think it could do with some minor improvements but strong Sunday roast."

really friendly staff and great atmosphere. I was first for Sunday dinner and it is very busy, so bookable! nice selection of drinks with a beautiful beer garden from the back. very family-friendly, so there are in the regular many children on a Sunday, only fyi! dog-friendly I also think.

This was our first visit to this traditional pub and we had a very good meal. Inside the atmosphere was pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful. We were a party of four adults and one child and we all ordered different meals, jerk chicken, steak and ale pie, lentil and quinoa salad etc., all were good, well cooked and presented. Drink prices were reasonable, bottle of decent red £25.00, food prices also we thought very acceptable. Will definitely return when back in the area. View menu

the hotel is located in walthamstow 'village ' aka a street with some boutique shops, this classic east london gastro pub. it has all clichés, the board games, the posh pub snacks, the local ales. the menu is short with some interesting choices, I chose a pan roasted duck breast on a potato beetroot mash with a kale. the dish was perfectly boiled, beautiful pink duck, beautiful sweet maische with a delicious jus. my friends ordered the burgers said they were exceptionally juicy, tastefully good quality. we shared some British cheeses to finish all washed with a good decent bottle red. this place may look like a cliché, but it is much more then that.

We had a birthday celebration outside in the garden mid-week, and the Castle staff made it really special. Helpful and accommodating, prompt and attentive, they really made us feel valued and looked after. The food was excellent and all served together for everyone. I had the padron peppers as a starter, which were delicious, and the beetroot burger with goat's cheese, also great. Friends had the hummus, and the sea bass and jerk chicken, all of which went down really well. I've always liked this pub and would definitely recommend it for a special celebration as they look after you with both humour and grace which greatly contributes to the experience.

"At our table, we noticed that the adjacent table received STK's signature bread right away, while we hadn’t even been offered any. After ordering drinks, we waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came over to ask how everything was. My husband mentioned that we were still waiting for our drinks, which arrived shortly after he asked. We ordered our meals, and my husband chose the calamari starter, which was impressively large. We both opted for steaks. As we were enjoying our conversation, another couple seated nearby received their bread and dip almost immediately. This made me wonder if we had been forgotten, so I asked a staff member if we had missed out on something.... we were indeed overlooked, but thankfully the bread came shortly after. Once our food was finally ready, it was delivered by a different waiter (a runner) to a table next to us and just left there instead of being brought to us. After a while, we managed to get another waiter’s attention to bring our food over. When our meals did arrive, they were quite nice. The asparagus was good, and the truffle fries were delightful—hard to go wrong with deep-fried fries, really. After finishing our meals, we had empty plates in front of us for about 20 minutes. I wanted to order a warm cookie, but at that point, I had lost interest in what was meant to be a special meal, and we just wanted to return to our suite. When we finally asked for the bill, it seemed they were aware we weren't completely satisfied. The bill was £140 after a discount (I had opted out of the optional service fee of £17.50), but we were actually charged £152. I didn't bother to argue about it. For a restaurant that prides itself on its service, we expected much better."
