"We had pre booked as part of a seniors group. We paid a deposit and was asked to order a few weeks beforehand from the menu we were sent. My husband and I ordered a nut roast Sunday lunch. Apparently, although we weren’t told, the nut roast wasn’t available but they would give us a vegetarian alternative. We were given a vegetable flan which consisted of courgettes, peppers and other veg in a tomato sauce. Not something I would have ordered if I had been aware. With chips? No served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables and gravy! Really not nice. When we questioned it, we were told it was the only vegetarian option that day. Apparently the roast beef dinners others had were not too good with the beef being rather tough. To add insult to injury, we tried to work out the costs from the website, to find the meals were about 50% higher than prices quoted on there. We had to pay £15 each for our horrible flan Sunday roast meal. Really not acceptable. We were told they can’t guarantee what is on the menu from day to day. So why ask for a pre order? Such a shame as it is a lovely pub and they were very helpful and caring when one of our party was poorly. Please whoever us in charge at the Crown, sort your website out and try to have more consistency in your menu if you are going to ask for pre orders."

The food is very very average. Don't expect anything other than the usual pub food, but not as well prepared us most places. Shoreham is a lovely place but The Crown is a disapointment.

I have visited this restaurant a few times while cycling. It is a charming and friendly pub with excellent beer. The service is always delivered with a smile. A great place to stop for a break.

Really enjoyed lunch here before a family funeral at the nearby Bluebells crematorium, delicious baguettes served quickly and cheerfully, very atmospheric old building with a lively buzz even on a Monday in November. Ticked all the boxes

Came for three Sunday roast and one fish and chips, both were great and will be definitely returning for the fish and chips! The service was great and heard it’s under new management which explains why as the whole vibe has changed for the better! Overall 10/10.

This restaurant has a charming open fire and quirky decorations that add to its appeal. It has a cozy atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem known mostly to locals. While the menu may not be easily visible, it offers the best value in Shoreham, a beautiful village with fantastic walking paths. The food is decent, offering good value and generous portions, though it may not be groundbreaking in terms of creativity.

Visited the Crown for Sunday lunch. Arrived about 220pm. Good selection of food on the blackboards. I had the roast beef which came with your shire pudding, vegetables and a gravy boat. My partner had the cheese and onion quiche plus chips and peas. Both good portions. I had a pint of the Harvey’s Sussex and then a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc. I then had the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and my partner the apple pie and custard again good portion sizes. Very friendly staff and good quick service. Recommended.

I have frequented The Crown several times in the past 3 years with friends, both for drinks inside or in the garden, as well as for evening meals. I have also enjoyed their delicious takeaway meals offered during lockdown. The portions were generous, the food tasty, and the prices reasonable. Additionally, I have called the pub while on a walk in the hills to order a sandwich and coffee for pick-up in 40 minutes, and it was always promptly served. The Crown has a unique charm and is full of interesting individuals. You are always made to feel welcome.

We 'd pre-booked a table for two at 1 pm on Sunday 17th April. The service was by four young girls who were very polite but the resulting food was a huge let-down. Presumably, we received frozen Vegetables and Yorkshires that were burnt, rubbery and cooked to death. One of us had the Turkey Crown which was dry and had a peculiar taste and I had the Lamb which was okay but nothing spectacular. Ironically we were sat near a notice saying If you 're happy with the service then tell everyone, if not then let us know ! We informed two of the waitresses that we were unhappy with the food but there was no management response and we were charged the full amount. Needless to say that we will not be r...

Came here after looking at their website.....which we now know needs updating! We were looking forward to a turkey roast for £10, but there wasn't any poultry at all available, just beef, pork or lamb. And roast dinners were £17.50! One of us doesn't eat red meat, so that was a disappointment, and out of the other mains choices, there was only one suitable scampi and chips for £15.00 (instead of the £9.00 on the website). Our meals were nice though, but average pub grub. Large glass of wine a bit on the pricey side too at £8.50. Be aware that parking may be an issue, even though there is a car park, but we were lucky to find a space in the narrow road as the car park was full. Don't know whe...
