"We met up with some family for dinner here after such a lovely meal last time. It is always worrying when you recommend a restaurant so highly that others may not feel the same. No need to worry in this case... the family loved it as much as we did! We shared a starter platter which was meant for two but the five of us struggled to finish it so generous was the size! Each of us had different main courses and they too were large and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately none of us had room for dessert! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for good, honest, home cooked food at a very reasonable price. The Mermaid remains as one of our favourite restaurants and we can't wait to go back. Visited September 2016"

"really sad to leave this review! as they can see from previous reviews here on google, I have always been a big fan of this restaurant and has been here regularly since its first opening. I feel that food standards are slipping. a little. Last couple times I was there something or others wasn't great. or sometimes eating is ok, but service really slow. all this is still acceptable, as I have still declined. last time I ordered the homemade focaccia I received a few of the smallest bites I wish I had made a photo. it was quite appalling for £4.25 and they were rock hard! I managed to get my money back for this article about ubereats and I forgot the experience. today I ordered ubereats again and this time I tried the gluten-free garlic bread. I'm in shock! It's hard and thin like a tortilla and there were only 3 pieces. I eat gluten-free much so that this is really unacceptable to me for an Italian restaurant. it is certainly not worth the £5 I was loaded and also hardly edible really! I'm really sad to leave the review, but I felt it necessary as I had a few bad visits now. I might have to think again before I get eaten/ordered again."

"This restaurant is not local to us, but well worth the travelling as it has never disappointed yet. Being a fan of balkan food, it is great to be able to find authentic dishes of this kind in London. The Cevapi is a 10/10, also the Sarma. There is a good wine selection that includes a very nice serbian red that goes down very well! Fulham Kitchen is definitely a place to put on your list for a visit!"

"just abysmal. Sunday lunch they would run out of frying dinner in the rest of the menu available. besides the first two items on the rather short menu were the Brat dinner. (roast bell of pork is not my idea of a roast in any...case) that does not leave much choice. my gammon, i and chips were just that. not even exhort. as mean! the gammon was so hard that he was almost unpredictable. it was also ridiculously superfluous. fish and chips were in order. sticky toffee puddings were in stone cold, barely out. their replacements were hardly in the inside, dense, chewing and dried and hard around the edges by reheating. it could have been as much as a spoon sauce above. they were also rejected. shockingly terrible. Barmaid/waitress was apologetic, but no offer made to reduce the bill. I've never been impressed by the food here, it's been mediocre for years. This is a pub that clearly focuses on its charming location and no effort in the direction of quality. it must be avoided."

"A wonderful experience from beginning to end, service was precise and friendly, food was very well executed, and the surroundings are conducive to an enjoyable evening out. Starting with a well served pint of Black Sheep and focaccia with oil and balsamic, I never felt in a rush to get to the main course. Even with a large group joining the Orange Room, it was a peaceful environment, at a pleasant temperature on a cold autumnal day. I can imagine that it would be wise to book for couples or groups. (It was interesting to walk into such a busy pub in the middle of the North Yorkshire countryside! An aspect that warms the heart is background music that remains in the background. The lamb special was very well cooked with just the right balance of gravy, mint, vegetables and mash. Service was excellent throughout. Five stars of five. Thank you Fairfax!"

"Food was amazing cooked to perfection. Everything melted in your mouth. The staff was really friendly the atmosphere was relaxing would highly recommend this amazing restaurant to everyone. I had the breaded sweet chilli prawns for starters. Very juicy and succulent prawns. Then for main I had the triple scewers which consisted of beef chicken and prawns. With chunky homemade chips. The beef was really soft melted in your mouth was all juicy the chicken was succulent and really tasty and the prawns just wow. The while experience was just amazing"

"I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant because it was very pleasant. My friend and I both really enjoyed our appetizers (I ordered the Hummus falafel, she had the baked Brie). The main course was also delicious, but I found mine to be a bit too spicy for my taste (the roasted vegetable bake). However, I still highly recommend this place as the staff were friendly and there were plenty of excellent vegan and vegetarian options available."

"I’ve been going to Good Day Cafe for over a year now. Their brownies are to die for. The perfect amount of crust with a gooey middle that is similar to ganache. Sadly they are trying to be good at everything which doesn’t work. It was my first time sitting inside the cafe and trying out their brunch. How disappointing. The staff are extremely rude and too young to understand how to treat customers. I came in with a friend and my dog carrying a matcha latte I purchased elsewhere. A staff member came up to me and stated I couldn’t drink my drink as it wasn’t purchased there even though I was going to spend money on their products. She then stood at the end of the room watching me every couple of minutes as if to tell me off if I were to drink my drink. At the end of our stay the card machine wasn’t working. She half made a joke, half told us to come up to her to pay but in a way which wasn’t polite. Made the whole situation uncomfortable. The food was also disgusting. I purchased avocado on sourdough toast with vegan sriracha mayo. I wish I took a picture. It was the thinnest slice I’d ever seen. The avocado was made into a paste and thinly applied as if they were spreading butter on toast. I had about 1/4th of a radish as garnish and a thin drizzle of sauce. I love spending money on food but £8 for that was a joke. You’d get a better sandwich from Greggs for half the price. Will definitely be returning for the brownies but sadly nothing else."

"I am inclined to think that I was unhappy when I visited this restaurant, while most people say it's scum, I can't say that I had the same experience. At first it was a very busy night, but I am not sure to what extent this apologises for the quality of the food we had. it was moderate. our two appetizers were unimpressive I ordered mozzarella and caramelized wobble garlic brot that came on him with hardly mozzarella and caramelized wobble, and my friend ordered tiger garnel that seemed overcooked. in my main, I had the opposite problem: the ricotta ravioli and the ricotta ravioli were understated. we would have asked from the personal how our meals were, we would have told them, but they have not read."

"Restaurant is now called fish and Chipper. There is a small restaurant, and we quickly sit down and order. I wasn't even informed when I asked them not to be charged or told it was bottled water, it's not a big problem. I ordered the fish with chips and my friend ordered the chicken 'n chips. The food arrived quickly, but was not impressed with the food. I've had better fish in the United States and fries were even less impressive. When they gave us the bill there was a 10% automatic service rate as the bill was higher than £20.00. Another reason to carry the experience in general. I'm here in London for a few days, but we're not coming back."

"I had made a reservation for a party of 10 several weeks in advance. The restaurant called to confirm our booking an hour before our arrival. However, when we got there, they did not have a table ready for us. The downstairs team claimed they had given our table to someone else, even though we had arrived early. The upstairs team said they had no record of our reservation at all. When we were finally seated, we did not feel very welcomed. We were only given a party menu and had to ask for the main menu as we did not want a full three-course meal. The service was rushed and unfriendly, with plates being cleared while some of us were still eating and drinks being attempted to be cleared before we had finished. The food was only lukewarm and average in taste. Additionally, some of the staff appeared to have issues with personal hygiene. The toilets were located in the basement, while the restaurant was on the top floor, with over 50 steps between them and a non-functional lift. Overall, it was a disappointing experience."

"We had pre booked as part of a seniors group. We paid a deposit and was asked to order a few weeks beforehand from the menu we were sent. My husband and I ordered a nut roast Sunday lunch. Apparently, although we weren’t told, the nut roast wasn’t available but they would give us a vegetarian alternative. We were given a vegetable flan which consisted of courgettes, peppers and other veg in a tomato sauce. Not something I would have ordered if I had been aware. With chips? No served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables and gravy! Really not nice. When we questioned it, we were told it was the only vegetarian option that day. Apparently the roast beef dinners others had were not too good with the beef being rather tough. To add insult to injury, we tried to work out the costs from the website, to find the meals were about 50% higher than prices quoted on there. We had to pay £15 each for our horrible flan Sunday roast meal. Really not acceptable. We were told they can’t guarantee what is on the menu from day to day. So why ask for a pre order? Such a shame as it is a lovely pub and they were very helpful and caring when one of our party was poorly. Please whoever us in charge at the Crown, sort your website out and try to have more consistency in your menu if you are going to ask for pre orders."
