"Meal was ok didn't expect much for the two for £20.00 .. Barmaid was pleasant and bubbly, chef seemed a little cheesed off.. The pie I had even tho microwaved then crisped after was tasty and full of meat.. My partner had the hunters chicken which was lovely as she put it, just needed more sauce. Chips where good too. The onion rings where a tad overcooked but overall its pub grub. It was tasty, if it wasn't for the tough crust on the pie and the overcooked onion rings then it would have been a 5* Friendly atmosphere.. Not bad .. Nor bad at all."

I was here this weekend with my friend. And honestly, it was a pleasure. Dave the Gaffer was brilliant the bar staff was fun and helped us to throw back the menu of shots in any case...

This place was a great find! We went around the port and tried to find somewhere for lunch on a Sunday and found this pub behind the street. They only serve Sunday roasts on a Sunday and it was exactly what we needed. The owners are also beautiful. Definitely recommend.

A decent pub with good entertainment. Beer was nice and well maintained. Bar employees were friendly and seemed to enjoy themselves what is nice to see. It was very busy at our visit, but tables were free from empty glasses and tables were deleted. Prices seemed fair as there was no fee for entertainment.

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
