"Went for a Sunday roast beef dinner , the gravy was stone cold it wasn’t in a separate pot like advertised, the potatoes had obviously been cooked roasted frozen then reheated in the oven because when you finally managed to cut into it it was all dried and cracked on the inside of the potato , he then told me they had been cooked that morning which I then thought don’t insult my intelligence as I use to be a chef , the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and dried out that much it didn’t have a middle , the parsnips had been boiled and not roasted in the oven , the so called cauliflower cheese was a watery mess with no homemade cheese sauce it was absolutely horrendous , also a tea spoon of horseradish sauce between two people there wasn’t anymore on offer , desert was a crème brûlée which was just a sloppy mess not even a crunch to the topping ! I’m really disappointed when I had such high expectations."

I just burned my mouth on the most delicious cheese pie I've ever had because I couldn't wait for it to cool down! Amazing! This restaurant is beautifully located in a charming village near Blackburn. Thank you Lloyd and the team for a wonderful dining experience!

I went for lunch with my husband and dad. The food was fantastic, we ordered cheese and onion pie, lamb steak followed by sticky toffee pudding and creme brûlée. Everything was delicious. The views were also amazing and our friend Lloyd took great care of us. We highly recommend this place and will definitely return. View menu

Went for Sunday Dinner. The only thing edible on the plate was the Roast Beef. The Home Made Yorkshire Pudding was Soft burnt and tasted strange. The roast potatoes were so hard I could not cut into them. The Gravy was cold. For pudding I ordered the crème brûlée when it came it was just a sloppy custard not Crème brûlée at all. Extremely disappointed at the standard of the food served

What an absolutely fabulous find!!! Had a superb meal for a very reasonable price. The food was served hot and portions were good. I can recommend the salt n pepper chicken pieces, they were really tasty. Four of us ate and we all agreed that the food was excellent. The bar is well stocked with a good choice. We weren’t rushed into ordering which was just as well as the menu has plenty choice and deciding is difficult!! We had a leisurely meal, staff checked we were ok but weren’t pushy at all. The bill was presented promptly when requested. Think we will be visiting again. Really impressed.

We chanced on a visit for Sunday lunch today and were highly delighted with the food, the service and the overall ambiance. A total gem of a place. Lloyd and Lois were our servers and nothing was too much trouble for them. We felt so welcome. The quality of the food was delicious and surpassed expectations. The garlic mushrooms with truffle and Lancashire cheese were an absolute triumph. The roast beef was sublime and the seasonal vegetables were carefully chosen and delicious. Two courses at £19.95 was excellent value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. Truly excellent in every way. View menu

Went out for dinner at The Dog Inn, was not disappointed. The service was amazing. Lloyd was waiting on and he was very customer focused. I am Coeliac and ordered the GF fish chips, which was delicious. My partner ordered the Hanger Steak, which he said he really enjoyed. We then shared a dessert, GF sticky toffee pudding, to die for! One of the tastiest desserts I’ve had in a long time. Followed by an espresso each, mine decaffeinated. A lovely evening spent at the Dog Inn and top class service from Lloyd and Jamie the Chef and the rest of the staff. Lovely super friendly pub. Comfortable surroundings, nice decor. We will definitely be returning soon on.

We dropped in over the weekend and were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! The atmosphere was wonderful, the bartender was friendly and welcoming. Despite being busy, the wait times were short and our food arrived quickly, which was impressive considering it was made fresh. I ordered the beef and it was cooked perfectly, showing that the chef takes pride in their work. The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very reasonable. We sat in the dining area and enjoyed the beautiful countryside views. We will definitely return soon, as I have my eye on the fish and chips that I saw another table order and it looked delicious! Thank you, The Dog Inn, we will be back soon.
