"I booked here for an evening meal with a friend. I know of the pub but had never been. I will definitely be returning. We were greeted warmly by the staff, who were polite and friendly. The Duke has an extensive menu to choose from and I ordered chicken ,avocado and bacon salad and my friend had the leek and Stilton pie. The salad was plentiful with a good quantity of chicken, avocado and bacon, it was delicious. The pie was equally of good portion and tasted lovely but due to my friends small appetite was able to finish it. The pub had a few locals in and some diners too. A great atmosphere. A lovely evening spent with a friend in lovely pub. I shall return."

Owing to a cycling accident Landlady Lauren came to our rescue, scooping up the casualty at the expense of leaving her pub to rush our cyclist to hospital. What an hero. Our grateful thanks to Lauren. We are now sitting and sampling the Dukes Head and what a great pub it is.

You will not find better pub food anywhere, A Sunday lunch as good as you would cook at home, with a selection of meats, beautiful roast potatoes and lots of fresh veg, A mid week lunch of chicken leek and mushroom home cooked pie with vegetables and large portions, Highly recommended.

The food and service at The Dukes Head, Hamstreet just keeps on getting better!! . It's not ideal for children though, not much for them to do apart from go into the back garden that's worth bearing in mind. All in all though, you won't leave after a meal feeling you've been cheated on the portions..... that's a promise!!

The Dukes Head is our local pub, and has had its ups and downs. But, we decided to give it another go this evening. What a difference! The food this evening was absolutely delicious! It really was pub grub at its best! We would recommend The Dukes Head, Hamstreet completely. Very friendly, helpful staff. Very very impressed!

"Our excitement to see this café open allowed us an opportunity for some needed refreshment . Oh a cup of tea and a slice of cake or a little available small snack was what we needed . We were told by an employee sit down we come to you , so we did .. Another staff member standing behind the counter looked over and frumpy look called the cook who had the same frumpy look and went back to cooking , We : waited , waited , waited , waited and saw the frumpy counter woman still in the same spot , we waited and waited then left , maybe she was glued to the floor . We looked left and saw a pub named the Pheasant, oh drink and food , renewed enthusiasm and excitement we entered to staff who couldn 't do enough, so professional and warrants praise and a revisit , after a while we left and waited outside for our taxi , looking over we saw the cafe closed , ahhhhh it all came together and understanding that we was an inconvenience to the café as they was closing in half an hour after our visit , How long would it have taken to make a cup of tea for two? , us drink it , then how long would it have taken them to wash up the cups ? , they still would have twenty minutes for the woman to be unglued, our first impressions were of a cafe with many seats and a welcoming atmosphere, the woman employee sitting at the front table working was professional and welcoming the tables were clean and we kept our excitement as we waited , our excitement and enthusiasm faded, we left happily for the woman glued to the floor , we are appreciating the effort of the lady at the table who was seriously let down by the others , thank you for your efforts , apart from her professional customer service skills our Eureka moment to see the café open wasn 't to last , sorry to the staff member at the table I 'm very sure the service we had wouldn 't have been what you would have given , this review seems strong in tone but it 's our experience in here that day.. . I am not now able to show enthusiasm for another visit , I would have loved having that day and opportunity to empty my wallet a little and a little bit more on what would have been another visit , sorry no Eureka moment taken away that day."
