"we have taken a friend here for lunch, a little drive for us, but she doesn't live too far. it was worth the trip, both eating and the beer were excellent. it is worth going as a group as the menu has small dishes, so with a group you can choose many more to share among them. beautiful ambiente and long after eating and drinking we stayed on to chat as they cleaned up for the evening and it was nice that she didn't mind and did not try to throw us out what was really nice of them. I'm sure you're worth a visit."

"This steakhouse is truly incredible for those eating gluten-free. The kitchen is accredited by Coeliac UK and offers a wide selection of gluten-free menu options, including sticky toffee pudding. I will definitely be returning here again. The staff are very knowledgeable and make you feel comfortable."

"I'd give 10 if I could. I went to the duckworth arms tonight for my brother's birthday. I reserved the table and asked to be near the window for the view. When I called, I was obviously not recommended to have a problem. we asked to take a cake and bring it out after the meal. of course they have brought out the plates that many people did not like. all staff were super and so friendly and smiling. nothing too much annoyed. this was my first time here, but absolutely not my last, since the food was delicious, was good music and we all enjoyed the whole night and all the workers and owners contributed to it. I'm looking forward to my next visit!"

"Went to go for food on a mid week evening, was not greeted by anyone. Found a table and when going to the bar to order, was told “we saw you come in and the table you’re sat at is reserved (there was nothing on the table to show it was reserved)” the condescending tone and approach by the young lad slumped behind the till (not even asking what I’d like to drink) was very off-putting when I was simply taking my mother out for dinner. We both agreed we will not be coming to the pack horse again having been coming here for a number of years. Very much negative impression of the team who clearly have no passion for keeping loyal customers. UPDATE Thank you for your reply Pack Horse Owner, it is clear to me that my review was not read properly as nothing related to what day we visited. Either your staff are behaving differently to you than when in front of customers or you’re oblivious to their behaviours. Also, dining in the conservatory was not offered, in fact the staff member behind the bar (sat on a stool) made no effort to even get up to locate a suitable table. The defensive tone of your reply tells me that you don’t see that anything needs improving despite me not being the only reviewer to point out the lack of customer service for the price point of your products/services. Your reply has made it very clear to me that the staff take the lead from the management in this instance."

"I took my grandma for lunch at Owens today. We were greeted warmly as we entered the restaurant, and shown to our table by Oliver, who pointed out the specials board and offered us menus. Our drinks order was taken promptly and delivered promptly (1 hot pot of fresh tea served with a small cute glass bottle of milk, and a shortbread biscuit on the side, and a bottle of sparking water served with a glass of ice and slice of lemon . Our food order was 2 x prawn sandwiches on white bread. The food was served fresh and beautifully presented. 4 triangles of stuffed, soft white bread sandwiches on each of our plates the prawns were a good size, fresh, mixed in a light marie rose sauce, and generously portioned within each sandwich. Accompanying the sandwiches were a portion of chunky chips that were delicious, and a salad and coleslaw garnish. The meal was simple yet delicious and filling. Given the temperature of the day (an extremely warm 22° , the restaurant was very comfortable and cool. The service was warm, friendly and efficient, and the passion pride that the owners/management have for this restaurant is evident in their presence and also in their staff, food and environment. We are very much looking forward to returning for dinner one evening soon, as the wider menu (beyond the sandwiches we chose for lunch looked fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant."
