"We went for Sunday Lunch last weekend at The George. To my delight, Roger had Haunch of Venison on his menu. Skilfully cooked, venison in the right hands can be delicious. Over cooked, and, well to my mind, forget it, it's just not worth eating. Ours arrived looking tempting to say the least, with all the best vegetables: broccoli, carrots, parsnip all done to perfection, and his cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes, cooked to perfection and simply gorgeous. If that wasn't enough, the venison was just out of this world full of divine flavours, unbelievably tender it was literally melt in the mouth. Lashings of wonderful gravy and a very moreish parsnip puree made me want to like my plate, but I couldn't risk it, sadly! Roger really does deserve Michelin recognition. Just sensational. Thank you Roger. Thanks too for our excellent service. Sunday lunch is a special joy at The George."

Went for dinner with friends. Service was efficient and staff very friendly. The starters were really tasty. Three of us had fish and chips, great that you had two sizes to choose from. I had the homemade fish pie, it was delicious. Unfortunately no room for dessert so we will have to return.

Popped in last night for a meal with friends. Not been there before. What a little gem. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere cosy on what was a chilly night, but the food was to die for. I had the chicken leak pie; a proper pie, if you understand my drift. Probably the best pie I have ever had. In all, first class.

Fantastic village pub that was extremely accomodating with our large party and various last minute requests! We had the Christmas party menu and the food was excellent and full of flavour. Certainly well above the level of service and quality you might expect for a small village pub! Also very reasonably priced and a very good selection of drinks and ales (Mojo the Dog was also very friendly! Would absolutely return!

We booked a Sunday lunch and needed to get space for a wheelchair and also permission to bring our dog. From the moment we arrived the service was superb. When we got to the food however, we were totally shocked. Shocked at how absolutely delicious it was. All four of us had different dishes and all four said they were some of the best meals we had had for a very, very long time. The ingredients, cooking and presentation were all 10/10. To say The George is a hidden gem is to make the understatement of the year. The experience was utterly fantastic and we will be returning very soon!

Whenever we can, we love going to The George for Sunday lunch. My favourite roasts are lamb, or venison, and I was delighted to see Rack of Lamb on the menu last Sunday. It did not disappoint! Normally, I only pick up bones to knaw them at home, but last Sunday was an exception! I had to enjoy every last deliciously flavoursome and tender morsel left. My partner had the venison, and together we agreed it was a splendid meal. The vegetables were also spot on and delicious, and Roger really does the best ever roast potatoes. The previous Tuesday, we had gone to have a curry supper at the The George, and that was very, very good, too. My prawns were cooked to perfection, and again, such wonderf...

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
