"I had guests from overseas visiting London and wanted a traditional pub with a good atmosphere. I remembered this pub from over 20 years ago when I used to work in London. It is still a great place, clean, with friendly staff, and good value for money (especially for central London). We had fish and chips, burgers, and pie and mash (not the East End type) and all were enjoyed."

We arrived for our reservation and the restaurant was out of 2 of the main meal choices on the menu Very disappointing. The menu is small to begin with We left the restaurant! We did not get to eat there.

We chose The George for our Sunday lunch after searching for reviews for a good Sunday roast in central London on Father's Day. It did not disappoint. The pub restaurant was lovely and the roast pork was delicious. A hidden gem of a pub. View menu

The server forgot to bring us our gravy. We saw him go on his break to eat and then smoke outside... he NEVER came back in to check on us or let us pay. We had to go find someone so we could leave. The Sunday Roast was less than good and the potatoes were hard as rocks.

I booked on Open Table and the gruff manager refused to seat us as he said that the kitchen was fully occupied with a private party upstairs. He could not have been more callous and unfriendly about the situation. When I told him I had booked with Open Table, he said that I should have booked sooner. Ridiculous and very disappointing. I won’t be going back.
