"Been visiting the Kings Lock frequently for some time now, and I can honestly say that this is one of the friendliest, liveliest and welcoming pubs i’ve ever visited! The staff are brilliant, there are often events scheduled to appeal to all different people, great selection of real ales!! I’d give more stars if I could!! The only downside (which has nothing to do with the pub itself) is a small group of regular customers who seem to cause a lot of stress to staff and other customers, often after drinking very large quantities of alcohol. It is typical pub politics which can be found anywhere, but it really can put a downer on an otherwise brilliant vibe."

Gorgeous breakfast and great coffee in a really cosy but bright pub. Lovely location for a Sunday morning walk along the canals.

Great pub next to the canal. Four real ales. Not serving food but said that we could bring in fish and chips from the chip shop opposite that is the best on the whole canal network. A great combination. .

We parked our narrow boat up this evening and we’re desperate to find a friendly warm place to eat and The Kings Lock didn’t disappoint. Great food and drink. There was a real buzz in the pub, the music was fab Northern Soul!!! Service was super polite and professional. Thanks Matt!!

We spotted this canal side pub on our way back to our caravan and decided to stop for a drink. This pub specialises in a great range of cask beers. There is a friendly welcome and atmosphere inside and a large grass area at the front directly alongside the canal lock. A great place for boat watching.

At last! The pub has been bought from a chain by three friends who are passionate about ales, lagers and house cocktails. This is a true pub in an enviable canal side location and deserves and is getting huge support from locals and visitors alike. There is a food offer that complements having a glass or two but it’s not aimed as a restaurant. I wish the new team every success and I for one will certainly call in when my boat passes through

"I’ve never been before, we came yesterday for family dinner looking forward to a roast lunch dinner. The menu only had a choice of lamb or beef, not liking beef the choice for me was lamb. Within minutes a lady came to advise the lamb “had just sold out” I said I didn’t like beef but no other option was given and I therefore had to have the beef. The meal arrived the Yorkshire’s were not risen and burned. The vegetables were very nice the beef was shaped like a block mine was dry and over cooked. My husband had poured gravy all over his so he couldn’t tell but I don’t like a lot of gravy on my food and I could tell I gave my beef to him. We ordered a burger/cheese/bacon meal for our 12 year old, I made it really clear to the young girl to plead only out cheese/bacon/burger on and no healthy stuff no onions nothing she laughed and said she has a brother who is the same so understands we ordered the adult version as it said the children’s was for 10 years and under. My sons burger arrived with a load of crispy onions lettuce and tomatoes everything we had asked NOT to be added, I took the food off but he wouldn’t touch it having seen the salad was on it! After eating my main it was a massive disappointment to see the man behind us being served a roast lamb dinner when I was told it had all sold out!!!! I had ordered fruit crumble this was a massive portion in a bowl the crumble topping was nice but the fruit underneath tasted like melted jam rather than just gently cooked fresh fruit there was more fruit sauce than fruit making it quite sloppy I had a couple of mouthfuls and left it."
