The Lemon Plaice - Menu

Known this chippy for years it's still probably one of the best chippies in the area lovely cod and chips but I have to mention the battered sausage takes me back to my childhood champion

Had superb Fish And Chips from Lemon Plaice this evening. Plenty of other choices on the menu should you not be a fish lover. Think it’s great that they do a Senior Citizen fish and chips.

There appears to be a variety of comments. I like my food and regularly get a take away from here. I have always found the Lemon Plaice to be one of the best fish and chip shops in Reading. The staff are quirky, and chatty with a very dry sense of humour.

The lemon Plaice delivered fish and chips for 25 of us yesterday at a small social event. The food arrived in individual containers, still at a fine temperature, and each person got kinvescsnd forks, salt and vinegar in individual packs. We were only charged just under a fiver per person, which was great value. No complaints, in fact, everybody enjoyed it. No bones.

Don’t order from here. Have just ordered for the first time from here. Sausage looks and tastes like it was reheated two or three times. The chops were only just cooked and tasted rubbery. Only ordered here as the four seasons were closed. Wasted 80% of my money as nearly all of it went in the bin. Will not be using again. They advertise award winning. I stopped here yesterday and ordered haddock and chips. As I expected, the fish dad to be cooked so it was fresh! When it was ready, it was wrapped and given to me so I left to eat it. It was really lovely! I really enjoyed it. The batter was lovely and crisp and the chips were really lovely too. It was a visit well worth making. Thank you so mush to The Lemon Plaice for such lovely food.

Called in here on the off chance. We were the only ones there for the duration of ordering to taking out food, which we took down to a riverside bench to eat. The fish (haddock) and the scampi were excellent and a decent portion of scampi. The chips were nice, and the batter was nice and crisp. Friendly and efficient staff. Shame they had no rock left though. Will definitely be back as it's far superior to the chippies closer to home.

My son and I went here to get Fish and Chips Despite being the only customer my 10 yr old son was told to wait outside on his own while I order obviously putting him at risk by a very curt ignorant female. So I have no idea how a single parent of young children would be able to use this place. Not that I would recommend the food either as I thought originally that they were a good place no price increase due to covid19 lockdown. How wrong was I no price increase just significantly smaller portions of poor quality chips.
