"While on our hols in a local Shepherds Hut, myself and partner were looking for a traditional country pub for a nice but no-frills evening meal, with our dog in tow! This place fit the bill perfectly. A friendly welcome and COVID procedures absolutely top-notch. Food was perfectly fine. My partner had a juicy burger with all the trimmings and I had the ribs which although weren’t overly tender, were full of flavour and covered in a yummy bbq sauce. Pudding in the form of a shared chocolate and hazelnut torte with after eight ice-cream was really scrummy! The bill came to a reasonable total for food and alcoholic drinks combined. Would certainly recommend and happily visit again."

This pub is very OPEN despite the red message on tripadvisor that it is temporarily closed. Friendly staff made us very welcome. Roaring fire. Delicious lunch.

The second year running we have been here. Adrian and Belinda have shown great hospitality and the food was as superb as ever. A big thank you from 17 happy customers. See you next year

We had a lovely evening here food was excellent and staff were very welcoming. Everything was well set up for covid precautions (and plenty of outdoor space if you're there in the daytime)

We dropped in for a quick drink and ended up having a lovely meal. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and the food was great. My rabbit pie in particular was super. Outstanding location with a nice campsite nearby and a covered area outside.

We had a lovely meal (the fish was delicious as always), the service was excellent and very friendly, top notch recommendations for cider. Excellent and surprisingly broad range of Tyrells crisps, never before have I seen such eclectic yet delicious flavour options.

It’s a lovely pub, located in Hoarwithy and about 300 meters from the River Wye. So is great to visit if kayaking or canoeing down the River Wye. But you will have to pay a £3.00 landing fee for each craft not the pubs fault). I had a lovely gammon steak, fresh from the local butchers.

Stayed at nearby campsite and visited pub for evening meal and a pint. Game pie... superb. Wye valley best bitter.... fantastic..... staff... friendly and helpful value.... very reasonable. We are going back to the area again in October and will definitely be calling in again. I am at a total loss with regard to 2 recent poor reviews. Not my experience whatsoever.

I went out for food with my partner and witnessed the land lord be rude to a group of people and making very inappropriate comments about people and they way they look i was absolutely mortified he is too full of himself and to sit there laughing with his mates about these people is disgusting. Definitely won't be returning until there is new owners of the pub.get some manners!!!!

This lunchtime we passed this delightful pub with lovely socially distanced tables In the garden and decided to stop for a drink. We walked into a fairly empty room with no obvious Covid instructions. I went up to the bar and was confronted with a volley of barked instructions. “ You can’t be served at the bar” , “ sign in by the door”, “ sit down if you want serving”, “ no you can’t go out that way”. We found our way ,with not a word of assistance to the garden, where we sat and waited and waited until we left.I hate complaining. I’m a hospital doctor who tries to make every person who comes to my clinic feel special. A polite smile goes a long way.
