"Booked for our anniversary. We had room 18. Be aware that not all rooms are in the old building and are in an annex further down the road. As it was our anniversary I said it must be in the old building or not at all. Staff were very helpful when I asked for a bouquet, chocolates and a bottle of bubbly to be in our room on arrival. They did this very well. My goddess was greatly pleased. The old hall is a lovely old building , Tudor I think. Room was very good, went down for a meal. COVID precautions in place and tables well spaced out. Food was nice and service was good. Malton village looks nice and is right on the doorstep. Stayed here because it was close to where we had our hand fasting ceremony. All in all I would be happy to stay here again."

This restaurant is in a beautiful location. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly. I didn't notice any electric vehicle charging stations, however. View menu

Just stayed this weekend. Well worth a visit, with great history. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff from the moment we arrived, they really were fantastic and both the food and room were lovely. Definitely going back ! ????

Yesterday, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a beautiful room in a stunning building. The staff was helpful and the environment was absolutely stunning. We haven't even checked out yet, but we were so impressed that we booked another night.

During our 4-night stay, we booked a 'Standard Room' that appeared to be worn out. Despite addressing issues such as lack of heating and hot water with the manager, they showed little concern. It is possible that other rooms are in better condition, but in my experience, I would recommend avoiding the 'Standard Rooms.' View menu

I arrived at the restaurant yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a beautiful room in a gorgeous building. The staff was helpful and the surroundings were stunning. I haven't even checked out yet, but I enjoyed my experience so much that I have already booked another reservation for two weeks from now!

I can't speak for the rooms in the main building but the room in the annexe building we got was really good, very roomy, and they provide everything. But their secret weapon is definitely the 24 hour bar. The gentleman in charge, Nathan was very welcoming and tended to our every needs. Plus he gave us a tour of the old building detailing the history of the place to the best of his ability. Come for the rooms stay for the drinks and tour, and ultimately stay overnight or two.

"We came here for evening meal on route to the North Yorkshire Railway Light Fantastic tour. Car parking was easy with a large carpark although bear in mind our satnav said the pub was up a no through road; in fact the pub was a little further along on the right. There is a wealth of outdoor seating available some of it sheltered should the weather be quite bad. Inside the pub is aesthetically very pleasing on the eye with a decent bar area, pool table off to the left; a large restaurant style seating area is off to the right. The staff were very welcoming showing us straight to our table, taking a drinks order and providing menus. We realised we hadn’t really left enough time to eat and make the railway tour; totally our fault. The wife had a quick word with the staff who put our food on a rush which was amazing of them. Sure enough food was served very quickly and we made the railway tour. The food itself was excellent quality, very tasty and decent portion sizes. The menu was varied and categorised nicely allowing for quick browsing. There were 2 options for vegetarians and a specials board as well. Free Wi-Fi was available with a password displayed at the bar. There is also a comfy sofa seating area just to the right of the bar. The pub is dog friendly which is a big plus for us. Based on this experience I would totally recommend a visit to this pub; I look forward to returning to try some of the other menu options. Food drinks: Great food"
