"we arranged a goodthe shave event in the pelican as it is our local, and it has come so far from where it was earlier. we had a mix of friends and family who participated in the event. some were local and some had traveled from yorkshire. at the event that I contacted with kerri, who was very accommodating and very flexible with our requests. we wanted a part of the pub to do this shave and also wanted about 18 people to sit together at the same time. To facilitate this process, we were asked to preorder what we have fully understood as it was a Saturday night. nothing was too much annoyed, they even have our macmillan balloons and bung (danke Scarlett...x) the eating and the service was on the place, everyone really enjoyed eating, obviously by the fact that every teller was empty. I had the coq au Vin-Delish! we then played bingo that had no problems with the pub at all. each had a great night and we increased £235;00 to our existing amount £1160:00. the bar was kept somewhat open about the usual time that was very appreciated. overall it could not have gone better and I am so glad that we had the event in the pelican, I felt that kerri and scarlett were very supportive for the event and thanks to their help it went perfectly. there are more plans a foot for the pelican, and if they have an event, I would definitely approach them as it could be the perfect place. thanks to all of the Pelli...xx"

Attended for a work’s Christmas get together. Lovely looking from the outside with plenty of parking. Three course Christmas meal was of a good standard. Not high end but perfect for the occasion. Would go again.

We had noticed the renovations going on during lockdown and were keen to take a look! The staff were welcoming and especially to our spaniel. We had the pie of the day which was excellent. Being close to where we live, this pub is definitely...on our ‘favourites’ list now.

A group of us turned up and the waitress wanted to I.D everyone. I had the feeling she was being lazy. Anyway we are all mostly over 40 one is 29 (wife) and she didn’t have I.D. We have never been I.D since age 18...and went to down the road and spent £300. Maybe this pub has issues with kids visiting- I doubt it as it’s in the middle of the countryside View menu

nice to lunch. was simply renovated. the attentive staff. had a great plower lunch. efficient fast employees. they only grasp why this place always call them “ rifles” at each point. it has with a passion. his stupid company. we would stop again if we. it was nice to use the old a4 road and find good food instead of hurting the m4 with plastic sandwiches.

I can provide you with many reasons why this isn’t a place to eat. Met some friends this evening and had never been to The Pelican but regularly pass it and assumed it look good based on external appeal. My reason to avoid is based...on my experiences this evening that included: Greeted with a huff and not a smile. Waitress didn’t have a clue about the menu and when I asked for wine list she said they didn’t have one. Food **** and food cold Wine was off Miserable staff that didn’t seem to want to be there. The evening went from bad to worse... fine another pub, there are plenty more in the area

After passing this pub on the A4 at Froxfield and seeing how gorgeous it looked all lit up at night me and my wife decided we had to give it a try and I have to say I'm so glad we did all the staff...were friendly and helpful and the pub itself is such a charming place to just have a drink and relax but the food omg the food, absolutely amazing I can highly recommend the venison loin and white chocolate creme brulee', my wife had the fish and chips or should that be whale and chips I really do not know what else to say other than if you haven't been here lately or have had a bad experience, well its under new management and I suggest you visit you will NOT be disappointed. Four friends had their first night out in ages last night. We met at The Pelican and were really impressed. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the dining areas were well decorated (I don’t think any of us visited the loos). What really stood...out though was the food. It was absolutely delicious. A very interesting menu and we were all pleasantly surprised when our order arrived. We are all local to the area so why had we not heard about this before? I had the arancini and it was superb. My friends all said the same about the various dishes that they had ordered. Honestly, I just don’t understand why the local grapevine isn’t raving about this place. Get yourselves over there! I will...

someone has a fortune spent that this place really look good in, and then splashed £1.27 on eating right and £0.05 on the training staff. everything comes directly from the freezer, through the microshaft to the table, provided the personal can find. they and can see what they serve. the payment of the bill is a attack course; the personal does not seem to have discovered how credit cards work and the machine cannot work properly. they will require a tipp in cash, but they will not earn! if they want to see how a restaurant should not work, this is a wonderful example! If they are not disturbed, then they avoid like the plague. If it were possible to forgive zero stars instead of a minimum o...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
