"Charming pub located along a popular hiking trail. There are three beers on tap, and the two I sampled were excellent. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I found the lunch enjoyable, but there were some issues with attention to detail—there was no horseradish with one dish, and the avocado was under ripe and inedible in another. Despite these small concerns, the overall dining experience was good."

The pub offers high-quality food at reasonable prices, and I highly recommend the chips. It was quite busy during our visit, and we found ourselves closely situated to the bar with many people walking past our table.

Beatiful setting, clean and comfortable. The food was pretty damn good, with my son's lamb shoulder being one of the best Sunday roast's I've seen. The flip side of that coin is that you have to pay restaurant rates for the food and it seemed a little souless (could have been when we came). View menu

Ordinary pleasant pub catering for locals and passing hikers, who are requested to remove any muddy boots before entering the bar. We didn't sample the food, but the locals were having pub grub as well as liquid lunches. Good selection of lagers and ales. Tables inside and out, with most outside being sheltered under canopies. Service: 4 Location: 4

I think this is the place where David Cameron came for fish and chips with the Chinese Prime Minister. I might be wrong. Anyway, it was a biker stop off nice to sit outside and enjoy the country. Worth a visit, it's a bit tucked away. You can walk up the hill to get to the white cross. A good hike and you can see for miles! Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet
