"This was my first visit, had a table booked for 12 noon but on arrival at 11.55 the doors were still locked, when eventually the doors were opened we were met by a rather frosty reception from a member of staff who I later learned was the Duty Manager. Having not been before I wasn’t aware of how the restaurant worked, whether table service or order at the bar. The woman was blunt unfriendly even when my 7yr old son said “thank you” for his drink she showed no interest but simply ignored him. I said thank you for our drinks but still no smile or warmth from the woman whatsoever, this made me feel very uncomfortable before even ordering food, I even considered going elsewhere. Thankfully the rest of our visit was pleasant, I ordered food with a different member of staff the waiting staff were friendly. The food was good plenty of it. This is clearly a very popular place I would definitely recommend booking! A good place with a varied menu, the Carvery looks very good too, it’s unfortunate that one member of Staff can have such a negative effect on Customers."

We went for mid week carvery which was really nice and reasonably priced but we had 2 drinks, a pint and a prosecco and the drinks round came to £12.95!

Most of the meal was very good in our group of 5 however twice my burger came out dry and/or overcooked. Would not recommend the burgers however everything else was lovely.

We enjoyed the plaice and chips with was as good as possible, error-free, indeed. Then followed apple crumbs and ice cream with was very good. The service was good and friendly.

The food was excellent with the exception of dessert. I had the lemon melodies that was very heavy, maybe there was too much gelatin in the limonene layer and the meringue was also solid! Bad quality ice.

We booked a table for three. It was well located in the pub and two of us chose from the menu whilst the third had a carvery. The pub is noted for its carvery which is very good. The menu meals were also very good with large portions. The staff were very pleasant and made the visit enjoyable.

Had five stars given if it wasn't for the condition of the rug in the whole pub it was absolutely dirty and disgusting for God's will to clean it or replaced it was terrible the food was very good the service was very good everything else was fantastic, but when you go and see that this disgusting spot torn carpet it puts people off

Great carvery. Have eaten here several times before but this time the carvery queue was very long (we queued for nearly 15 minutes). Only one person carving and he wasn't very speedy. By the time we got to the carvery the turkey, beef and pork joints were almost gone so we ended up with the less than perfect bits from the ends of the joints, including very fatty bits (they couldn't be called slices) of turkey. They didn't seem to be replenishing the vegetables quickly enough many of them were down to the dregs and didn't look at all appetising. Very disappointing because it's usually very good.

Enjoyable visit overall and food was good, Paticularly the mushroom starter. We came as a group of four and a baby to celebrate a birthday. There wasn’t much space for the pram tables quite close together and our table was up a few steps, but we managed. We felt a bit rushed as we had booked for 1pm and were unaware that the carvery closed at 2pm we were spoken to by a member of staff and it came across a little rude. We had a lovely meal overall the bar staff were particularly friendly and helpful which made it a lovely experience. Menu items were pricier than expected as our friends had been before and the prices had significantly increased from what they remembered for the same meals. Tha...
