"If this were our first visit we wouldn’t go back….5.45pm, maybe 6 tables taken. Unfriendly, inattentive bar person needed telling several times what our two drinks were. Asked to eat to which the reply was “have you booked”…as we had not she went off to “look” for a table (although we could see maybe 10/12 from where we stood. Allowed us a table in the middle of three occupied tables that appearing to contain somewhat inebriated family, arguing and swearing amongst themselves. We went outside as all the tables were free, despite it being overcast and slightly windy it was better ! Went back and ordered food, sold up by bar person to a Surf n’Turf and partner ordered Sea Bass.Went back outside to enjoy drinks. Waitress came out and told us no Sea Bass , second choice Lasagna, no Lasagna, ended up choosing Fish n’Chips. Bar person then came out and said that they didn’t do Surf n’Turf anymore. At this point we nearly gave up. Food came out reasonably promptly. Waitress disappeared for several minutes before returning with a caddy of condiments and knifes and forks which was just plonked on the table.(and needed a damn good clean…euck! Both chips (chunky) looked delicious, but sadly The Plough seems to have gone the way of many now, chips no doubt frozen, probably some colouring and if the contents ARE all potato I would be most surprised we’re just mushy pap.Awful. Rump steak was tough, peas were like bullets. The food and service used to be sooooo much better. Staff need some clues on how to actually make customers welcome.Pub needs to claw back some of its old ways. If it needs to charge a bit more then it should , people are happy to pay a bit more for quality food and service, as serving this food in this way certainly would make us seriously think about coming back.Real shame."

We enjoyed a meal with excellent service at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend for delicious pub fare. Also, the parking availability is a plus.

Lovey ambiance, warm and friendly. The Sunday lunch was to die for. Served promptly by a very friendly member of staff. The proprietor had the time to stop and speak to us which was a lovely touch.

We had a great Sunday lunch at The Plough Inn. We'd reserved a table and arrived to a lovely welcome sign, dog menu, dog biscuit and water bowl. Our roasts were gorgeous and good sized portions and our dog loved the sausages from the dog menu! It was very busy but the staff were very attentive and friendly and food came out in good time. I would like to thank Steph Zoe for making us feel so welcome, and the kitchen staff for the fantastic food. We visited The Plough during a girls' holiday in the area and were very happy with our experience. The staff were polite and friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere of the pub felt just like home. Thank you so much, we can't wait to visit again.

After a lengthy circular walk starting from the pub car park we came in for lunch. Three of the four of us had burgers while the forth had cottage pie. We also had two dogs with us (the pub is very dog friendly). Both dogs had a mini lunch from the doggy menu. Our lunch was lovely, the service was friendly and the prices very reasonable. We would definately return.

very rarely leave reviews but checking the temperature of meat before you serve it feels like a very standard food hygiene process. Sadly, I was served very raw chicken schnitzel. I’m quite an easy going person but I wish that I’d have taken a photo of the dish and made a bit more of an issue, as it was I was served up an alternative meal of scampi and chips (which I only felt comfortable enough to eat the chips) and still paid £48 for pleasure of my visit. Do not go here.

Had supper here while staying locally. Unfortunately the most interesting thing on the menu (lamb shish kebab) wasn't available that evening. Had the fish and chips instead. The fish seemed a bit like pre-battered, frozen oven fish, and the tartare sauce tasted very vinegary and processed, like it came from a store-bought jar/packet. Even the coleslaw was crude. It would have been ok as cheap pub-grub, but the pricing wasn't far off what a much better pub down the road was charging for significantly better quality. However, the staff were friendly and the pub was cosy.

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
