"David is a great pottery expert and sells his work, along with other craft type gifts and unusual quirky cards etc in the shop atached to his art studio. It is a one floor, small area but prettily decorated in simple colours to allow the art work to show itself off! You can have a nice brew and slab of cake and sit at a little quaint table and catch up with friends or even beter, if you have children, book them in to one of the pottery classes he runs while you sit in the next room enjoying a flick through a magazine in peace and quiet! He is great with the children and my son had a field day as a youngster going on ~Saturdays to learn how to glaze pieces and then build pots and scupltures David is very patient and lets the children be as creative as they want, letting them learn from experiments that trying to build houses on stilts wont work etc once they have been fired in the kiln etc whilst encouraging them to see what wilol work. He is that rare mix of patience and entertainment that kids warm to and he immediately creates a calm warm atmosphere that remains with you when you leave the cafe an ideal stop off as you shop or a place to make that special journey to to relax, tire the kids out for an hour and find the odd gem of a gift for the people in your life that you can never seem to find something to buy them!Qite simply i wish i could go more often!"

We held my daughters 6th birthday party at the pottery for a change from the usual play centre party . It was excellent all children picked and painted an animal then all had a go on the potters wheel, David the owner was fantastic with the kids and the atmosphere was fantastic, many of us adults ate in the cafe and the food was excellent ! Very very impressed and would recommend a party here to anyone View menu

My friend and I found this by googling cafe 's in Alfreton it has a website: [hidden link]. It has a lovely bright friendly atmosphere. Coffee, tea, cakes etc, all served on David 's pottery. We didn 't go for lunch but it serves snacks too. Fenced secluded gravel garden at the back, with pots of flowers, a sunshade over the large wooden table. We felt it was a spot of peace and serenity and a real find. David also sells some craft jewellery and handbags, as well as stained glass 'pictures '.

I stopped by yesterday for some coffee and cake. I recognized the same lady from my previous visit. Even though she was busy preparing for a birthday party, she still managed to fit us in. Her level of service is exceptional, the best in the area! She is incredibly pleasant and welcoming, making everyone feel right at home. I don't visit Alfreton frequently, but I will always make sure to stop by for coffee at least. She made it clear that there's no need to go anywhere else, as The Pottery is truly the best option.

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
