"We’ve driven by this pub dozens of times but this was our first visit. Externally it looks like a typical village pub of the Victorian era with little ‘kerb appeal’ definitely not a pretty country inn! Inside it lacked any charm and was in need of some refurbishment/redecoration and improvements to the random furnishings. However it was surprisingly busy with a mixed clientele of older couples eating and groups of younger people drinking at the bar, outside and in the pool room. The welcome seemed genuine and the atmosphere was definitely informal, although we felt the general organisation and service was rather shambolic. We were dealt with by 4 different people and no one seemed to actually be in charge of providing menus, taking orders, clearing tables, etc. which left us somewhat confused. On the plus side the food was very good, generous portions, unfussy presentation, but sensibly priced. The desserts were almost certainly off the shelf, microwaved type but were quite tasty. Overall it was a reasonable meal but in surroundings that lacked ambience and with an attitude that was so informal and laid back that it was missing any customer service, so we didn’t really enjoy the evening. We won’t be rushing back, but we may return to check it out at sometime in the future."

Visited here for a quick lunch. Varied menu plus specials. Chose chicken and beef stew. Excellent, prompt service and good food. Well worth the stop.

I pay frequent visits to this establishment and it gets better on each occasion. The food has always been good and the staff are keen to satisfy. You are made to feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

I live locally and when I last visited for a meal the food was excellent. Sadly however the Royal Oak pub is now closed and is being offered for sale. The good news is that it is under offer, so if a sale is agreed we may see it reopen, fingers crossed

Have been here several times in past few weeks for meals out with family and friends. Always welcomed. Staff very friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Good is delicious and plentiful. All plates were emptied. Good selection of meals to suit everyone at very reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning on near future and recommending. Thank you. View menu

Yet another fantastic visit to this village pub and eatery. The steak night is excellent value for money and the service fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for the family operators and it's great to see a Lincolnshire village pub encouraging customers from the surrounding area to come and try their offerings. I will certainly be visiting again in the very near future.

What a disappointment my wife and I visited Friday lunch time at 1.45pm after taking my aged mother for an appointment at pilgrim we had been recommended to visit by friends. After ascertaining that it was open until 2.30 we got mother into wheelchair and after a struggle got mother up steps into pub the easiest access was locked) we were advised by the lady behind the bar that food service had finished. Whilst waiting for my wife and mother to use facilities a table of 4 were served what looked to be nice food. The lady behind bar did let us out of the easiest access. Working in hospitality my self I now know why so many pubs are closing this needs to be addressed service is key!!!
