"This is a really nice looking cosy pub with a friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere. We came for a Sunday roast with friends. There was only a choice of two meats on the roast menu, which did surprise us pork or beef. Usually there is a lamb or chicken option and we did think this was a bit limited. However, they do operate a full menu on Sunday and so there were other options, unlike some pubs who have a 'roast only ' Sunday menu, so fair play to them. The food was served by super friendly staff and was perfectly good food. The carrots and parsnips, though few on the plate, were delicious and the Yorkshire pud was a triumph. However it wasn 't quite so good in other areas the meat was just 2 slices rather clumsily sliced and the veg was quite sparse and limited. We did have cabbage and a few very few, very thin carrot sticks and parsnip sticks but there were a lot of peas and cabbage. More seasonal fresh veg would have been nice to see, given the price we were paying £17 for the pork and £19 for the beef. The meat was fine but not remarkable and again the slices were a bit thick and clumsy. Some of us had bits missing from the plates eg no apple sauce as on the menu and no carrots on another plate but when we asked they quickly arrived. I said the pub was cosy. Maybe a little too cosy as our chairs were rather cramped together with 3 people on each side of what appeared to be a four seater table. I don 't know why as we had booked ahead and plenty of larger tables were free. I do have to say that the desserts were to die for. Absolutely delicious and worth every penny. No complaints there. I cannot fault the atmosphere of the pub. People were nice and friendly which is why we paid the hefty 'service charge ' automatically added onto the already hefty bill. I am not sure why a pub adds this charge though, as it is not service in the same way as a restaurant provides. It is optional and we paid it, it but on reflection I wished we hadn 't. I wish we 'd just left some cash on the table for the staff with an amount of our own choosing. The bill was very high for a Sunday dinner once a drink each was added and a couple of desserts. So to sum up, this was a Sunday roast which could have been a bit better given the price. I know where I can get superior roasts for much less. However the pub itself was lovely and the menu did look interesting and I would be pleased to return to try something else...only this time I will decide my own service charge/tip at the end of the meal."

We hadn’t planned on going here for lunch but we are very glad we did. We both had the crispy duck and rice bowl, it was so delicious. Shame there wasn’t more of it as it was so nice. The waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. Very nice pub with a friendly atmosphere.

POSSIBLY THE WORST FOOD EVER AND THEY KNEW IT AS WE DIDN'T PAY FOR ANY OF IT !!! We eat out at least twice a week and tonight has been a new low for us , cold tough steak , fish and chips with hardly any fish in the batter , ham from a packet with chips , how can they get it all so wrong !! NEVER NEVER AGAIN

Arrived on a wet Tuesday evening at 7.20 pm… hoping to be able to get a table for just the 2 of us.. but no was told by the bar staff that they were only able to serve us if we had booked, the pub was very empty with only a handful of tables eating, they said they were short staffed but there was 3 at the bar so must have been short in the kitchen but if a half empty pub can’t squeeze in 2 more customers I think it’s not worth my time going. Went for a family dinner. The atmosphere is great and the staff friendly. However after ordering the beef roast for £19 I ended up with three roast potatoes, one Yorkshire, a slice of parsnip and sweet potato, cabbage, and some beef. Then they brought out extra veg which was just cabbage and charged an extra £4 for it. I ordered the children's fish fingers, which got forgotten about, and when it finally arrived was a battered cod and chips...for a 5 year old. Had a great time purely because I was around family, not because of the food.

We have visited here for many years but unfortunately this time was a bit disappointing there was 7 of us.. the menu seemed quite limited we got there 6.30 all roasts were unavailable due to being dairy and gluten intolerant I ended up having the burger as did 3 others one had the Caesar salad and the others the chilli nachos .. I asked for no bun or cheese being intolerant.. out came the food I had a plate with a dry looking burger and chips no salad ? The others also said their burgers were rather dry as was the chicken on the salad... It was my daughters birthday so didn't complain as didn't want to ruin our meal... The service was good just need to not over cook the burgers so much ...

I dined at this restaurant with six adults on a weekday night. The sizes of the starters were inconsistent, with the large Brie contrasting with a small mouthful of whitebait. It seemed like the mains were cooked too early or quickly, as the fajitas chicken was dry and the peppers and onions were burnt. The sizes of the dishes were also inconsistent, with the firecracker chicken being smaller than the Brie starter. The service was average - we had to ask for more drinks and no one checked on us while we were dining. The plates were left on the side for a long time after we finished. The staff were friendly, but we felt that the £25 service charge was too high for the service we received. Ove... View menu

Food was slow to come out after the initial order, then when it arrived it came in drabs. The nut roast was actually a plant based chicken burger but I was not told when ordering, this was changed for a light meal, which came out with ingredients missing and olives which were not on the menu. The roasts were very poor, vegetables were child size and not consistent, other roasts came out with more vegetables and gravy. There was no offer to discount the replacement salad, no one asked how our meal was or if everything was ok. The young waitress was pleasant enough and the standard of food was not her fault. We were one of three tables who had issues with the quality of the food. We declined t...

Food took while to arrive and it was not worth the wait. One burger was wrong, another just forgotten about and when did turn up the bun had been toasted to charcoal, haddock was greasy, and the chicken burgers overcooked. The nut roast turned out to be a plant based chicken, no notification, as limited veggie options halloumi salad came with items not listed and missing those that were. The roast with seasonal veg, well 1 carrot, 2 parsnips and spoonful of soggy cabbage was poor. Other tables roasts came double the size, who knows what was going in the kitchen! No one came to check out meals were ok, considering the issues with the veggie meal. Had nerve to add on a 20% service charge. Not...
