"Luck brought us to the Nag's Head last year after a bad experience at another hotel nearby. We enjoyed our stay so much that we returned this year. The accommodation is fantastic modern and clean. The restaurant has a varied menu of tasty food even for fussy eaters like me. We were blessed with sunny weather and were able to enjoy a few drinks outside on the patio. What really makes this place is the friendly staff. Abbie and her team worked tirelessly day and night and always with a smile. They even put up with our terrible jokes which deserves an award in itself. I would highly recommend The Nags Head and look forward to returning next year"

"This hotel is a little gem! The food was excellent and the attention to detail is second to none. I have a food intollerence which I had informed them about when we booked and they had done me a separate tasting menu including tasting wines to match. They ensured breakfast was tweaked and changed and nothing a problem. We stayed for two nights as we were attending a wedding for the second night. They normally only do rooms when you dine but they were kind enough to make exception, which was greatly appreciated. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable. Little things like fresh milk, caffertiers and freshly baked cookies add those extra elements of perfection. They also went above and beyond in coming to the rescue with a problem with my best friends wedding cake. I will definitely be returing and enjoying all the delights of Checkers and the beautiful town on Montgomery once again."

"One of my favourite cafes in the Montgomeryshire area is clearly feeling the effects of staff shortages as is everywhere else at the moment. But despite the slow service the staff are warm, friendly and welcoming and doing their very best despite their inexperience. The food is as delicious as ever, I had a wonderful creamy perlas quiche with salad followed by a gorgeous soft and crunchy gluten free brownie and the hot spiced apple was delicious. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for small establishments to keep going at the moment with the very many different pressures on them, especially staffing, but I am very glad that this is one establishment that persists."

"We only had dinner in the restaurant and the food was really good. Nearby activities: I went up the hill to see the castle ruins. The view from up there is magnificent! The walk, even though it's steep isn't that long and I am glad we didn't drive up. I also visited a shop that sells absolutely everything and anything. It's like stepping back in time to when I was a kid. I loved chatting to the owner and seeing all the different hardware and ceramics, garden tools, kitchen ware, you name it, this shop will have it. Can't remember the name of the shop but there's only one. Safety: It's a sleepy little town and you are perfectly safe there. Food drinks: Food was good."
