"My husband and I went to the restaurant for a Sunday roast. The food was actually very nice apart from the potatoes which were hard. As we went late in the evening, that was understandable. We had a waiter called Alex who was very badly organised. He had to make various trips because he wasn’t efficient. For example he didn’t take my drink order so we had to call him back. Then he didn’t bring the milk when I ordered my tea. I could see the table next to us had the same problem. The reason I felt compelled to write a review was that we saw Alex wiping his nose on a tissue. He then went to bring plates of food to the tables without washing his hands or at least using hand sanitiser. We approached the manager who I believe was called Miguel. He was sat at a table with Alex and other people eating a meal. When my husband asked if he was the manager, he confirmed it and was going to leave the table. However, it was awkward as Alex was sitting there. Again, the food and atmosphere is excellent but I wouldn’t return or recommend it because I wouldn’t feel confident in the hygiene standards. Alex looks very scruffy also which doesn’t help. In an eating establishment, a person has to feel confident that the waiter has basic standards in cleanliness."

Thank you Miguel, our brilliant server who found us a table AND got our order in, even after last orders. What a legend! He was so attentive and welcoming, with a very friendly persona and lovely attitude to work even though he was tired! Thank you Miguel! And totally delicious burgers from Krapow!

Me and my daughter were looking forward to our Sunday roast at The Three Crowns, which appeared to be well attended, popular place in Stoke Newington. Our roast beef dinner was the worst we’ve ever had meat was raw and tasteless and hardly warm, 3 hard rock roast potatoes I couldn’t jab with my fork, a few slices of carrot and a watery gravy.... yuck! I ate a half of that because I was starving, my daughter left most untouched. We paid £62! I didn’t even mention that we had to wait for our cutlery long after our dinner was served... Never again! We went to a lovely Chinese restaurant next door to have a decent meal after that.

Visited for Sunday lunch with a friend. Had a couple of pints at the bar before we went to out table. Before going to our table a tried to order another beer to take with me. I was told by the barmaid (apparently the manager and should know better) that I had to go to the the table to order there. When I said I would rather order at the bar I was told aggressively “no, they will take your order at the table”. Really unprofessional and left me quite shocked. I assume they are after the service charge that would be added to the drinks if they are ordered at the table. Roast was ok but nothing to write home about. Many good pubs in Stokey, alas, this isn’t one of them. View menu

The redeeming factor was the food, as we enjoyed all four different Sunday lunches we had. Despite the changes made since my last visit, the place seems to have lost its traditional pub charm. The hand pumps for ales have been replaced with chrome keg taps, and while there are some craft ale options, it does not fully embody a modern craft bar. Furthermore, every table in the establishment is now set up for dining, with the exception of one lone settee in the lounge area. Perhaps this place operates as a restaurant during the day and transforms into a bar once the open kitchen closes. However, I remain skeptical about its capabilities as a restaurant, despite the skilled chefs working in t...

What a a surprisingly poor attitude from staff, from the moment I set foot into the building there was very unfriendly and confrontational atmosphere about staff, you would be wrong to think with the world in it's current srate and the lack of money floating about resturanters would be overjoyed at people turning up to dine out, not at this establishment, after a few minutes of entering the resturant I decided this establishment was not for me,why the staff were so rude and confrontational I will never know, good luck to the owners of this establishment, your staff are a real credit to you, you have a winning formula. I will give you a 0.5 out of a possible 10. I am in hospitality myself, thi...

I finally had a chance to visit this restaurant. Although I had only been in for drinks before, I had never thought of it as a place for a meal. What a pleasant surprise! The menu and the quality of the food exceeded my expectations. We decided to try a variety of dishes, like tapas, sharing a number of starters and one main course. The Pork Belly Chips were fantastic, the Chorizo Scotch Egg was perfect, and the Burrata with Romesco Sauce was delicious. The only downside was that the Barnsley Chop was slightly overcooked and not very warm, but we may have confused the Chef with our choices. Overall, the pub had great food, service (thanks Erin), and ambiance. If you're in Stoke Newington, do... View menu

We decided to dine at this restaurant primarily for the air conditioning (as it was the beginning of a scorching heatwave). The restaurant had a charming ambiance, with large windows allowing for natural light to fill the space, as well as cozy wooden interiors and comfortable tufted bench seating. We opted for the Sunday Roast priced at 18.50GBP, and found it to be excellent value for money. The service, however, was quite slow - it took over thirty minutes to receive our orders, even though we were the only customers present. Nevertheless, we were not in a rush so it did not bother us much. This restaurant is a good choice if you are seeking a cool environment and have plenty of time to sp...

The Three Crowns has always been a firm favourite of mine but hadn’t been since it reopened after Lockdown. It was a bit of a palaver getting the table in the first place. I’d booked online for six but wanted to add more people. I tried emailing but no response, it was difficult to get an answer by phone with repeated promises to phone me back broken. Eventually I got an email back saying the booking was confirmed. If I hadn’t had such good meals there in the past I would have given up and booked elsewhere. That brings me to the food. It was satisfactory but not to the standard of old. Meat was ok but the plates were cold so everything arrived a bit cold. The roast potatoes were hard and the...

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
