"Lovely pub, beautifully decorated. Very attentive staff. Superb choice of food/dishes with quality ingredients. Coped exceptionally well with dietary intolerance. Food presented beautifully at just right time intervals. So why only average? It was lovely and cosy in front of fire but once sat at table it was cold. Two people had hot starters-but they weren’t hot, they were tepid at best. One hot starter superb, the two cold ones were equally superb. Roasts arrived-ONE slice of thick rare, tender beef, with thick rind of white fat-cold. 3 beautifully crisp roast potatoes-tepid, two strips of carrot-cold, two strips of parsnip-warm, four pieces of cabbage hidden under beef, 1 large almost raw charred cauliflower-cold others had small amount of cauliflower cheese). 3 had wagyu beef ragu-tepid at best but very tasty. Ordered additional bowl of red cabbage £6.50). Desserts-hot ones hot, cold ones cold. Beautifully presented, outstanding flavours. Had four bottles of wine. Total bill was over £400. Would I go back? Probably to give it another go. Why? Because there was no doubt the food quality was superb. Why did I not complain? We were with friends, it was a birthday meal, they had accommodated our early arrival and made no fuss about our missing guest. But it is very expensive. They need to look at quantities especially the vegetables. And they need to get food temperature right. We eat out regularly- The Marquis at Hadleigh comparable price but perfect) The anchor at Kelvedon great and much cheaper), White Horse at Badwell Ash amazing and 1/3 price), Butt and Oyster Pin Mill Superb and less than 1/2 price). However company great, we laughed and shared good times so the disappointing aspects we overlooked."

This charming countryside pub is dog-friendly and offers delicious food. The burger was exceptional and the mocktails were a hit among the designated drivers.

The food is beautiful and delicate. The service very polite and attentive. Exceptional starters of variations on Jerusalem artichoke and salmon pastrami. Main course of chateaubriand and leek was exquisite. Delightful pudding too. A pub on the edge of fine dining. Full marks to the staff. View menu

The restaurant has a stunning private garden, and we received a warm welcome with excellent service and delicious food. It was especially lovely in the summer and made for a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. The food and wine were of high quality, and the restaurant is also dog-friendly.

Visited for Sunday lunch with our dog and newborn baby. Genuinely warm welcome, despite us arriving without a booking and a few minutes before the kitchen was closing. Great Sunday roast, good beers, and spot on service. For those looking for a cosy pub to stop at after a long winter walk, look no further!

This was our first time having a Christmas Eve dinner out, as we usually opt for afternoon tea. We chose to dine at The Three Horseshoes, a familiar spot for us. Despite the restaurant being completely full, we were impressed by how well they handled the crowd and continuously worked to satisfy all their customers. View menu

We had the most perfect tasting menu here to celebrate NYE ‘23 and we were delighted with our choice, which I’d found on trip adviser. The meal was sublime but even better was the welcome which we received both on arrival and throughout the evening. This lovely country pub deserves all its accolades, and more, and we will definitely return. Thank you.

Amazing little gem of a place. Such a cute family run establishment, all of the staff are so attentive and friendly. Makes you feel at home! We had a raspberry lemonade which was gorgeous!! Little nibble of sourdough and chilli butter, again amazing! The roast, amazing! I went for the beef and it was incredible. When you get cauliflower cheese on the plate without asking, that’s when you know it will be good! It was also my birthday and they bought me out a mini cake out. Can’t wait to return!! Cannot thank George enough for his attentiveness :

"Carluccios was my first dining experience out following I was impressed by the measures put in place by the team and how well these were adhered to. I felt completely at ease throughout my meal, staff wore face masks, tables were socially distanced, staff...were visibly washing their hands/using hand sanitiser throughout and the cleanliness of the restaurant was unmatched. It was reassuring to see these protocols in place during these uncertain times. The staff really went above and beyond to deliver the authentic Carluccio’s experience despite the current challenges! My experience was amazing from beginning until end. I was greeted by management at the door and by the wonderful bar team, Gemma and Emma, who made me feel welcomed with their friendly greetings as I shown to my table. I was then greeted by my amazing waitress Sasina, who is an absolute credit to the team! She was so friendly and bubbly, very attentive to our needs and delivered an overall wonderful experience! Our drinks order was taken promptly, we were asked if we had any allergies (very impressive and offered bread and olives to start off with. Once our drinks arrived, our food order was taken quickly without any hassle. Sasina suggested the lasagna for my main with a side of the garlic and rosemary roast potatoes. Her suggestions were superb! Sasina was also very mindful of the fact my guest was a vegetarian, making sure to point out all the vegetarian options (and even went out of her way to get some vegetarian Parmesan cheese Our food came promptly and cannot be faulted. It tasted incredible (big thanks to the amazing chefs We had the garlic focaccia with cheese, tomato bruschetta and calamari to start which was delicious. The calamari is the best I have ever had! And for mains, we had the lasagna and the spinach and ricotta ravioli (which the lovely Sasina was able to change the usual sauce to a tomato one with a side of garlic and rosemary roast potatoes. Our meal was phenomenal and the service was even better! My mother and I will be returning to dine with the amazing team at Carluccios without a doubt! Overall, the restaurant had a lovely, welcoming ambiance. All of the staff were smiley and friendly and all made a point of saying goodbye to us as we left the restaurant. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the mouth-watering new menu! Thank you all for a terrific experience!"
