"Sadly charmless service and told we needed to order quickly as a large table was coming in, which didn't appear? Seemed they were too keen to finish up. Food was okay, Chowder very good but steak tender but lacked flavour, didn't taste 28 days aged. Contrast breakfast the following morning, different crew who were very good, charming and accommodating. Although asked for poached eggs and got fried... Shame as has potential"

Too bad the place was empty. only a few more came when we were there. disappointed that there was only one steak pudding, but the hophead bier was excellent. View menu

It was unfortunate that the restaurant was not busy. Only one other couple came in while we were there. It was disappointing that there was only one steak pudding available, but the Hophead beer was fantastic.

We had a lovely lunch in a clean and compact room that perfectly met our needs. The breakfast was good, but we couldn't shake the feeling that every penny and possible profit was a concern, creating a slightly tense atmosphere in the restaurant.

beautiful atmosphere personal was friendly and helpful. they checked how we enjoyed eating and we even had a visit from the cook! our 8 month olds also enjoyed themselves. I would recommend the village inn. it was a scandal that it was not a real hidden gem.

Our 8-month-old had a great time as well. I would highly recommend The Village Inn. It's a hidden gem, although it's a shame it wasn't busier.
