"The staff at the restaurant were friendly, but the accommodation was truly awful. Upon entering the room, a strong smell of damp greeted me. I tried to open the window to get some fresh air, but it was apparently not allowed due to fire regulations (even though other rooms had opening windows). When I turned on the wall heater to get rid of the damp smell, it was replaced by a nasty burning dust smell. The damp odor was so overwhelming that I had to sleep with the room door open to the outside. The carpets were extremely dirty, like they belonged in a crime scene. The bathrooms were old and moldy, with rusty and broken fixtures and no soap provided. The beds were clean but incredibly uncomfortable, with mattresses that needed to be replaced as I could feel every spring (considered sleeping in my car). The tea and coffee facilities were provided, but the kettle was also filthy. I couldn't wait for morning to come, so I sat in the beer garden from dawn because it was more appealing than staying in the room."

Our two overnights stay was so enjoyable with a genial owner and chef, who produced sumptuous meals with excellent presentation and service. I wish we lived nearer.

We had planned to go for dinner on Saturday, but it was fully booked, so we went for Sunday lunch. Fantastic pub restaurant tucked away in this lovely village. We went for a drink in the bar on Saturday, which was full of locals and had lots of atmosphere. Sunday lunch was great! Attentive staff, locally sourced ingredients and we'll cooked and presented food.

Our staff Christmas lunch was attended by 17 of us. The chef kindly allowed us to customize the menu to our liking. The food was fantastic and the service was top-notch. We all had a wonderful time, with the restaurant to ourselves. We were able to enjoy a Christmas quiz and exchange our Secret Santa gifts. It was a delightful surprise to find such a great spot for our gathering. Thank you. View menu

Can I just say the food in this place deserves to be on a London menu 3 times the places . We visited as needed to attend a funeral so was just expecting pub food . Peter the chef was amazing . The cheese bread butter pudding I would move for . Second night the Cornish stone Bass fish was just the best. My hubby loved his Hake and chips with little touches of vinegar batter . If you are in the area give it a go . Plus Peter bakes the bread and everything is fresh !

Stayed overnight. The room was spotlessly clean, linen crisp and fresh. However it was very tired and in need of refurbishment, hence 4 stars not 5. Lovely atmosphere, great staff!! The chef was brilliant, the young man who served us for the evening was excellent, amusing seemed to raise a laugh from the tables. Certainly added to the enjoyment of the evening. Food was superb. Best sirloin steak I’ve had in the uk. All prices were very reasonable. Full English breakfast was top notch!!! Thank you.

We stopped at The Wheatsheaf Inn as a van stopover on a trip back north from the South West. We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant. Even though Badsey is about as far from the sea as you can get the fish was beautifully fresh and well cooked. As entrees some sautéed peppers and home made sausage rolls were provided. I had the Hake chips which I have to say was one the best fish and chips I have ever had !! My wife had the gnocchi which was equally excellent. On top of this the staff and locals in the pub were very friendly and welcoming. Peter Zella is the chef and he has created an excellent menu and restaurant and all at reasonable prices. We’ll be back on another trip. View menu

What a hidden treasure! I was incredibly impressed with the menu offerings at this small village pub. I enjoyed a delicious parsnip and prawn soup with poppadoms, while my partner had the creamy garlic mushrooms. For our mains, we both had the pork belly and we were pleasantly full by the end of our meal. Every dish was expertly cooked and nicely presented at a very reasonable price. We were only here because of a recommendation, otherwise we may not have discovered this gem. We made a last-minute reservation for a Thursday night and had a wonderful experience. It was unfortunate that the restaurant was so quiet, as the food was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to return, especially since...

Starting with the Good. The staff were amazingly friendly, and obliging. Peter the chef did a great spread, and an excellent breakfast. The pub itself is nice and welcoming. Di, the lady who does everything, was so nice and friendly, couldn’t do enough. Well done you two! Nice pub, friendly staff and clientele in a good location. The Bad. The room… well, if you like your bathroom mouldy, and the shower curtain green and slimy, the floor not very nice, the radiator rusty and no soap for hand washing etc. this is the place for you… towels nice and white though! The downright ugly. The room carpet, what more can I say than rip it up, cleaning won’t fix it!!! Disgusting, stained all over and sme...
