"We were staying in the area so of course, made sure there was a Wetherspoon pub to dine at. We sat at a table outside for our meal and decided to share the three small plates at £10.95 and you have a choice of various items, including pizza and garlic bread. The first time we tried them we had three plates each which we found too much. We had 10 spicy chicken wings with a hot dip and a blue cheese one and a large helping of smothered chips with cheese, bacon and sour cream and an 8” pizza as our third plate. Better not to think about the calories! We enjoyed the meal but were surprised that two of the staff were serving without masks on which is unusual for their pubs we have been in during the pandemic."

Good few hours spent... The kids had a good time scribbling on the kids menus while waiting for food. They finished their plates(would have washed...

It was quite full but a pleasant respite. We were lucky to be next to a table with some lads (showing off their ankle bracelets) with their molls. All very jolly. Our beers were excellent.

I drink in the Jameson 4 nights a week. The beer is good, food is nice and all at a decent price. However ... be prepared to wait at the bar till they finish their little chat. I'm sure I'm invisible at times. View menu

This place is usually busy, a friend and I decided to pop in for a quick bite. We were able to get seated and served in good time. The food was ok and what you’d expect in a spoons. Overall not a bad place to go to for a cheap meal and drink.

This pub was en route to the Stadium of Light on a Tuesday night. My partner and I sampled a few pints of guiness which were expertly poured on each occasion. There were plenty of young staff on duty who did a good job with some grumpy old men testing their patience! The place was busy and kept clean with the the clearing of plates and glasses. We had already eaten but there was an extensive food menu and a good selection of beers.

Must be one of Wetherspoon's worst. Is very dark and looks very dirty Tables, dirty, wet and sticky. Tables uncleared. Piles of dirty dishes at kitchen access point. Staff pushing past you without an apology. Paintwork badly in need of attention. Looks run down. Loud adults shouting at each other, children making a row and babies screaming. Very poor breakfast. Plates so hot that eggs baked on to them, yolks solid. Bacon dry as though it had been standing for a while. Hash browns oozing oil. Very few barely warm beans. Will never return. View menu

I am a regular customer of Wetherspoons and frequently visit The Wild Boar in Houghton le Spring which is excellent. I called into the William Jameson today with my girlfriend and we ordered a beyond burger meal and veggie burger meal. We waited 25-30 minutes for our meal which was fine but I was disappointed that both burgers and chips were barely lukewarm. I do not like to make a fuss as I feel that that the general service throughout the many Wetherspoons establishments that I have visited is excellent. However, I feel that the feedback is important so that you are aware of the issue I experienced today.

So why only a one-star review? Well... No Abbott Ale for the fifth Friday out of seven... and counting. I come in here every Friday evening with my friends and occasionally during the week with my wife, and I 'm now expecting the standard response to be the Abbott 's off every time I visit! My second choice, Doom Bar, also went AWOL a couple of weeks ago, but there was a plentiful supply of 'ale ' for lager or alcopop drinkers, the kind of trendy rubbish that tastes of grapefruit, chocolate, or coffee! Never seems to be any shortage of the run-of-the-mill armpit nectar for the tasteless masses, either. I wouldn 't wash my feet in John Smith 's bitter!
