"Under new management. Little by way of decor has changed ;except for a few missing pictures that leave empty frames on the wall. It seemed odd and a small attention to detail and easily resolved. The overwhelming difference was the unfriendly staff and atmosphere. I used to feel a pleasant welcome in The Woodside previously but not so much now. The menu is trying to provide a little more home made than “pub grub” and to that end is a little more expensive. With that I’d like to have felt a little more welcome. I was told “no tab” which is fair enough but it was the tone the message was communicated I didn’t appreciate. It’s not so much a cheap mid-week bite to eat place but it’s certainly not, in my opinion, a special occasion. It’s got the potential to be a really successful pub as it’s a great location with a spacious outdoor space. I am not in a hurry to return I’m afraid."

The meal was really delicious. I had fish, chips, and peas, followed by Bakewell tart with custard.

I visited this restaurant today on July 3, 2024 for my uncle's wake. Amie, Richard, and all the staff were amazing. The buffet was absolutely delicious and everything was perfect. A big thank you from all of us.

Called in for Sunday lunch. But meal was tasteless, didn't really enjoy it. The tables were not set no condiments or cutlery on the table or menues. Only tables that were reserved were set. It too exspensive, wont be coming back anytime soon. Which is such a pity as i have been coming here for years

The most amazing place I have been to in Chesterfield for a very long time. It has become so hard to find a place that does good fresh food, this place is amazing. The staff are warm and welcoming. oh my, the food, just that experience is enough for me to go every day. I heard this place had changed when I heard the landlord on Spire Radio. We came back in on Fathers day. We had the most amazing meal, now my family want to come all the time. View menu

We decided to try this pub again after a long absence and I'm glad we did. Lovely new staff and very good food. The pie selection is excellent , proper chips and everything is homemade. Very dog friendly with blankets and treats but if you're not a dog lover there's plenty of nooks and crannies to hide in.I hope this pub and it's new owners/staff make a success of this pub because it's been lying dormant for too long. Good luck too everyone concerned

We ordered 3 meals, but only 2 were brought to our table and no cutlery or condiments were provided. The waiter eventually brought cutlery, but we had to start eating without any condiments. After a mix-up, the 3rd meal was delayed by 10 minutes. We requested a refund for the delayed meal as we preferred to eat together. The waiter later asked about our food, and I mentioned it would have been better if all meals had arrived together. His response, while smiling, was simply "fair play" with no apology given. The food was bland and overpriced, with a cheeseburger costing £15 and Gammon costing £16. Overall, we felt the food was better at Wetherspoons.

"Where do I start... Ok we booked a table for 4 late in the day on a Saturday..happy to eat downstairs..arrived and was presented a table..drinks orders were taken..jug of water, glasses and a bottle of P.Grigio was eventually brought. Ordered platter for 2 and a couple of Bruschettas.Pizza and 3 Pasta dishes for main. Was visited by a kitchen member who questioned what we had ordered who explained that it was very busy and it shouldnt't be too long. We were offered a free drink..we said..no thank you but we were needing to speed things on a bit as we needed to get back for a pet that was on meds etc...Owner came through with a basket of dough stripps etc. Waited another while and we explained to the waiter that we were concerned about how long it was taking for the starters to arrive(1hr+ . For some reason a guy on the next able started piping up about what was our problem Owner turned up and mentioned that if we wanted fast food we should have gone to Macdonald's opposite.. Things escalated..Guy in next table started becoming abusive for some reason..The owner started getting on her high horse and asked us to leave, which we did...In my opinion the owner was bang out of order and was throwing abuse..The owner in fact grabbed my wife's arm, the waiter threatened to call the police.I stood back in amazement at what had become of a simple situation where we had questioned how long the starters had taken to arrive. A night well and truly spoilt by the actions of the owner and a customer who had no place to butt in when all we were questioning was the service we were receivin..been to Lambarellis before on a few occasions and has been acceptable food albeit over priced for the quality you receive.."
