"This tiny restaurant lies about a 45 minute drive into the country side of Bologna near the town of Sauvigno. We stumbled on this hidden treasure while on a motorcycle ride through the back country. As we zipped along and entered a hairpin curve, we glanced over and noticed 20 tables with bright yellow linen set up on a deck overlooking the picturesque valley below. We turned around and discovered the deck was actually across the street from a quaint, classic Italian restaurant. The staff warmly greeted us, opened up early for us, and recited the days offering, crafted around the seasonal local ingredients. That day, three pastas were offered and as we could not decide, they suggested they make a bit of all three and we share. One by one, three large plates of delicately made tortellini, tortelloni and tagliatelle arrived, each with a unique sauce and we stuffed ourselves, not wanting to leave even a tiny bit behind. After an the ice cold Moretti we started with and a 1/2 liter of slightly chilled lambrusco, three large plates of pasta and homemade bread, I did not believe we could eat any more.. Then the staff, clearly proud of their food, describe il dolci, desert, and we found ourselves eating homemade vanilla sorbet topped with fresh cherries and one of the best semifreddo I can remember eating! The restaurant makes Tigelle for the night time, something I never heard of and am excited to return and try but apparently is some type of regional 4 inch round porous bread topped with a sweet or savory.. If you visit at night, drop me a line and let me know how they are!. I would heartily suggest this restaurant stands out as a destination worth visiting while in the area or worth a purposeful drive just to eat there. I plan on returning in the evening next time to eat and enjoy sunset from their magnificent decks."
