"This is a great place to launch a walk along the Sever way. Nowhere is perfect so let's look at the hotels short commings first. Der, not easy, parking is on the street so your posh car might get wet, bus stop (fabulous x75) right outside. Bed a little soft for me but Cate likes it like that, light of the heating system a bit bright, but good if you get up in the night, breakfast a bit large if you are going to sit around all day, but perfect if going for a walk. Honestly folks this is a gorgeous little hotel with open beams and modern woodwork. Great service and good food. Oh, and that picnic lunch? Next door is an amazing small bakery. We will defoe back."

We had a wonderful four-night stay at the Unicorn. A lovely room with a separate sitting room, delicious food, and generous, helpful staff. We’ll be back for sure!

We met with a very old friend for lunch. Five of us. It was a fantastic meal, great service and drink and a lovely atmosphere. Very good value as well. Really recommend.

We were staying here for two nights and when we arrived we decided to have lunch. Good choice on the menu. Very helpful lady served us. Food was delicious and we even had a pudding too.

Very pleasant smallish restaurant available to non residents in a separate space from the hotel. Nicely presented bao bun starter. Butty Bach available in bottle. Wild mushroom risotto was more like a fricassée and one or two mushrooms were a bit tough. Overall a pleasant experience.

Booked an evening meal here for myself and wife. Lovely surroundings and a really lovely meal. Smoked Mackerel Pate for starters which was extremely tasty. Steaks for mains which were very tasty and nicely cooked. Sweets home produced and very good quality. Would highly recommend and will be returning.

Lovely warm welcome and a fantastic pot of tea! Nice food, quick service and reasonable price. I’d probably have onion rings on my gourmet butty rather than the rosti but only to vary the carb intake and as a counterpoint to the brisket and chips. But that’s just nitpicking! Worth a stop if in the area!

We ate here as a party of 11 for my Husbands 80th party. From first enquiring about a reservation and service on the day everything was superb. Staff decorated the table and area with bunting. Service was prompt Efficient and friendly. All the food was tasty and hot. Really nice atmosphere, I highly recommend the Unicorn with their fabulous team.

What a find! We stopped here for lunch and we were struck by the varied and quite original menu. Good choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. We were served by a very friendly and helpful woman. The food arrived promptly and did not disappoint. The surroundings are pleasant and scrupulously clean. We shall definitely return if we are in the area again.
