"Word is spreading fast! Since November 2023, The Unicorn’s Head at Langar is under new management. We live in the village and having heard how great it was from friends and neighbours who’ve been recently, we thought we’d give the Sunday roast a try. We both opted for the roast chicken. It arrived promptly and was presented beautifully. The portions are generous and it was all cooked to perfection. The waiting staff are smart, friendly, polite and professional. Even though they were fully booked and busy, we were given full attention and made to feel like we were welcome. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and management were visible and engaging. I’d say that if you want a good quality, relaxing Sunday lunch out, this is a must for you to give a try. To be assured of getting a table…..book early as it’s popular. Thank you breathing such a positive breath of fresh air back into our village."

Meal out with family. Venison pie to die for. Lots of gravy. Swapped red cabbage for greens. Thank you. My wife had salmon with butterbeans which she hasn't stopped raving about. Top drawer food. View menu

I’ve driven past this pub 100’s of times while heading to and from Skydive Langer. Finally went in yesterday with family for some food, due to bad weather day and no jumping. Pleasant enough staff serving pretty average food.

Have been for lunch now four times since the take over and never disappoints. From delicious sandwiches, Friday chip shop specials roast Turkey dinner. The food is beautifully presented and delivers on taste too. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and excellent service. Will be back very soon! Thank you for our wonderful lunches View menu

Thank goodness for the new team here! What a delight it was to visit. We’ve lived in the village for 7 years and have been desperate for a decent pub. We ate with our young family one weekday evening and the food and service were excellent. The place was cosy, inviting and busy. Can’t wait to go back! Well done to all the team as your hard work isn’t going unnoticed in the village.

Cannot fault our lunch here. The pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff pleasant helpful. Service quick (though it was a quiet time so can’t comment on if it was busy). We had the potted salmon, game pie, belly pork Christmas pudding. Everything we had was delicious. Clean plates all round our compliments to the chef. We were so impressed, we bought a couple of their home made sausage rolls, made that morning, for our lunch tomorrow! Good list of wines etc. Even had my husbands favourite non alcoholic gin tonic. Will definitely be back.

"I'll start with the positives. The interaction I had on Facebook to book a table, and then change the booking, was very positive. The two young waitresses who served us were great. The pub is shabby with rubbish and cigarette butts scattered outside the door...and a smell of smoke in the doorway. The décor is tired and tatty, and the bench seat in the restaurant area has a big split in it. The floor of the restaurant had bits of food and other rubbish on it. The salt and pepper and vinegar bottle didn't look like they'd been cleaned for a few days. The food was uninspiring, and mostly overcooked. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and were mostly inedible (when we commented on this, the waitress said she was too scared of the chef to say anything to him). The roast potatoes were hard and tough. The vegetables (not enough for 6 of us from one dish) were not great and the cauliflower cheese was the most uninspiring I've had for a long time. The lamb was OK, but that's all I can say about it. The whole menu (apart from a goat's cheese salad) was dull and unimaginative, even allowing for the fact that for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day most people want roasts. We didn't bother staying to have desserts. I thought from the TripAdvisor reviews that we were going to a gastropub, or a pub with a super restaurant. It was like having a meal in a pub 30 years ago, which is fine if that's what you want. It was a dreadful experience and not at all the way we wanted to celebrate my son's birthday and Mother's Day. We will not go back again."
