after hiking on the philosophenweg this is the perfect place to stop for a cold drink and some excellent German cuisine big spaetzle!

very German place, eating is German, eveything is German. but this is expected and ok. menu card have a series of typical dishes. Eating is just okay and a little boring. but at least they are not hungry when they go! service is ok

this is one of those places they hope to find traveling. quiet and quiet. interesting ruins near. most go and have a healthy appetit. we did it in the snowfall. my daughter loves grandmas suppe. I enjoyed the wild boar. beer on hahn was...big for Germany it is probably staring. View menu

Lovely restaurant at the top of the hill. Long tables and benches in the beer garden suyable for large groups. Fresh and delicious traditional south German cuisine and a selection of local beers. Good service with a menu in English available. Mid-range in pricing, but...worth it for quality food and the peaceful location in the hills/woods.

Quaint cafe that was a welcomed respite after hours of hiking (lost) on our way to Thingstatte amphitheater. Wonderful wild boar wurst recommended by our waitress and delicious apple strudel with warm vanilla sauce for dessert. Oh, yeah, and ice cold beer to start...it all off. It was a cool, rainy day so we practically had the place to ourselves. Wonderful!

We drove up to the restaurant to try their fresh trout. It was wonderful. Simply cooked in butter and almonds the fish was fresh and very tasty. It was served with potatoes and a salad. Don't ask for chips,they don't do them) The staff...were helpful and very polite. All their food is locally sourced even down to the wild boar. The trip up the mountain is we worth it. The restaurant is excellent and the view from the monestry at the top is breathtaking. View menu

We were headed along the trail on a hike to the Monestary and Ampitheater when we came across this quaint gem. It is adorable inside with excellent service. We were even more surprised by the quality of the food--very fresh and full of flavor. The...wine was excellent as well. Highly recommend especially given its proximity to several historical landmarks. It is also worth noting that you don't have to hike here and there is a great driving road to it too. Great way to have an outing outside of the main Heidelberg center.

It was like finding an oasis after a two hour trek in the woods outside Heidelburg. Enthusiastic German friends had convinced us it was walk in the park Excellent service, comfortable seating, pleasant surroundings made this a perfect place to spend an hour before resuming...our trek. My wife and I shared a spaghetti dish which they gladly halved and a visit to the salad bar was included. Our German friend had a Boar wurst with salad. Everything was well made. Excellent place to take a break if you're in that neck of the woods

This cafe is located just down the hill from the Thingstaette and the Michaelskloster. We stopped for lunch on a Sunday and there were already a number of people there, but plenty of seating. Their special was a Schweinbraten, which was excellent and at a...good price. The Kuchen looked delightful, but we were all to filled from the lunch. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Even though there were only a couple of them working all the tables, they were efficient and had most pleasant attitudes. A really nice place to stop for a short respite. View menu
