"At the end of a week stay in Friedrichshaven my husband and I remembered walking past this restaurant and decided we should give it a try. We were so glad we made the choice and only regretted not having another night to return. The...Weinstube is about blocks beyond the Yacht Club on a side residential street, just a short walk from the promenade along the lake. The restaurant is made up of several wood-panelled dining rooms furnished in a traditional manner, very welcoming and cozy. We were met by a friendly young lady who spoke enough English to be able to guide us through the creative, yet traditional menu. On our table was a small notice offering "zweibel kuchen" which we had seen on many sidewalk cafe signs. Our hostess explained the tradition of this "cake" made as part of the celebration of autumn and to be enjoyed with a sweet wine. We requested a portion as an appetizer (not the normal course and found it to be somewhat like a quiche. Our hostess brought complimentary tastings of the sweet wine so we could have the complete experience. From the extensive menu we ordered pork schnitzel and a chicken with apple entree along with a mixed salad to share. The chef is a woman (actually, it appeared that the entire staff of the restaurant were ladies) and we found both entrees to be superb. Portions were quite large. Menu prices were reasonable but wide ranging depending on the item. It seemed that most customers arriving that Friday evening were locals. Reservations might be advisable for weekend evenings since many tables were reserved at our visit. This is a gem of a restaurant"

Good choice of reasonably-priced food in a friendly and typically cosy German weinstube. Have eaten there on four occasions and never been disappointed

Off the tourist area, this place have a very nice food. Meat, lamb, duck, fish, local dishes and French specialities. The prices are ok. Old wooden furniture makes it a climatic place. The service is ok

What a fantastic variety of fish which wanted me wanting more. The fish was fresh from the lake, you could tell. As if it was caught that morning and baked that evening. Garlic and olive oil including peeled potatoes in butter. Just spectacular you can't...get any cleaner than this. Good wine selection too, Malbec was as it should be. The staff here are very nice too, enjoy pre or after the theatre opposite. Thanks again View menu

The food was good but another table nearby who pushed the large and bossy waitress got much better service than we did. The menu is limited but good. The beers are numerous but you have to be determined to get what you want. Full of...exhibitors from the Mess at the airport who are tried and hungry and the waitress just takes your order as she is very busy. Do not be afraid to ask and ask again for the full list of everything. The menu is poorly laid out and confusing

If you are looking for authentic local food that is hearty and traditional to the area then this is the place. Everything is homemade and cooked by the owners and is exceptional particularly the sauces. You feel like you are in somebody's house rather than...a restaurant. It does take a little time to get your food, but good food made to order takes time. This is very much a place where the locals go for good quality food at a very reasonable price. You will not be disappointed
