"I visited the restaurant yesterday. We have been here a few times before without any issues, but yesterday was different. There were a number of errors that occurred during our visit. Firstly, our food was mistakenly delivered to the wrong table. Thankfully, the couple at that table had not ordered the same dishes as us, but it still took some time for the waiting staff to figure out where our food belonged. Secondly, I had ordered Haddock and my partner had ordered Cod. However, we only realized we had been given the wrong plates when my partner began to cut into his fish. Lastly, while cleaning the table next to us, the spray used to clean it was accidentally sprayed onto my partner's arm. Fortunately, it did not get on his food. We brought all of these issues to the attention of the staff member who took our payment. As an apology, he removed the cost of our drinks from the bill."

Didn’t enjoy at all, takeaway option, very little fish in a breadcrumb type batter, chips greasy, would not return sadly.

As we had not been for a while we thought we would visit. As always not disappointed the fish was beautiful and the service impeccable. Will definitely be going again.

This is by far the worst food I have ever had. The fish was overcooked, dry, and flavorless. The batter was as hard as concrete, making the whole experience awful and leaving me running for the restroom. I would not recommend this place at all.

Visited this restaurant with my granddaughter and wife as we were passing by. It had been a while since we last went, but it was still as good as we remembered. We ordered haddock and chips, and my granddaughter had pie and chips. The restaurant was very busy, which is always a good sign. We will definitely go back next time we are passing by.

We used to like going here occasionally but they started over cooking the fish. On my last visit it was over cooked and I sent it back but the next one was not much better. It blows my mind that a fish and chip restaurant cannot cook fish. I normally like it with flour, is that the problem, it shouldn’t be. I used to be impressed with their product and felt they “ stuck to the knitting”. But ability to cook fish is surely a base requirement.

Well we go to whitbys to enjoy a well prepared fish and chip dinner in nice settings and they provide good gluten free options. Never had a complaint in all the years we have been going however last night we took some friends who had never been and were served very poor below average food. The chips were Luke warm and the fish had been way over cooked to such an extent the batter was a crumbly mess. Peas were served about 5 minutes after the main and only because we asked twice, and I have never seen a smaller slice of bread. All in all really disappointing, we traveled over 30 miles each way as it was so good but yesterday was very average. Standards have slipped.

"The welcome we received was pleasant, although not very personal, and our details were not checked, which was surprising considering how difficult it was to secure a reservation. The restaurant is not licensed, so guests are welcome to bring their own drinks. My husband and I brought two bottles of champagne, but we were not offered an ice bucket and were given standard wine glasses instead of flutes. The food was served promptly, starting with an amuse bouche of butternut squash veloute with a creamy accompaniment served in egg boxes. The chef explained the dish himself, and it was delicious. The second course, an aged rice dish reminiscent of a soupy risotto flavored with parmesan and espresso, was my least favorite. I found it poorly presented and the coffee flavor didn't come through well. The third course, a beautifully cooked lamb cutlet finished on a barbecue outside, was accompanied by flavorful lentils. However, the broccoli that came with it was plain and could have used some additional flavor. The dish was not explained to us. The fourth dish, which I initially thought was eel, turned out to be smoked eel and was served with beetroot. This was one of my favorite dishes of the night. We were served two desserts: a warm chocolate foam with orange sorbet and a deconstructed rhubarb custard with pink meringue pieces, both of which were delicious. The bill was not presented to us, so we followed the lead of other guests who left cash on the table as they left. My husband had a nice chat with the chef, and I joined in after a visit to the restroom. The chef was very knowledgeable and skilled with flavors. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of personality in presenting and explaining each dish. The experience felt somewhat impersonal and lacked interest. I believe guest interaction is crucial, so my tip would be for the restaurant to take the time to engage with guests, even if it means spending less time in the kitchen. I did not give a perfect score due to the presentation and slightly underwhelming flavors in some dishes. I believe that in fine dining, every element of the dish should be bursting with flavor. Despite this, we had an enjoyable evening and would return if we are able to secure a reservation."
