"There were no other guests in the restaurant when we came in, we should've seen this as a sign for the bad quality and service this restaurant offers! We first sat down at a table in a dark corner downstairs near the bar. When I found out there's more and nicer seating upstairs and I let the waiter know we'd prefer to sit there he was really grumpy and said we should stay downstairs because he didn't want to have to climb the stairs. When we asked him to repeat what was on special today he said (in a very rude and annoyed way): "Why should I know, I guess there's something, I don't remember". Concerning the food: One of my friends ordered pork which she could only eat half of it because it was too tough. We asked the waiter if we could have ketchup or mayonnaise with our French fries and he said "today we don't have any. Why can't you do without it?", even though we had clearly seen ketchup and mayonnaise downstairs!!! So rude! He probably didn't want to have to go back and climb the stairs again, lazy guy, so we went and asked the chef ourselves and he gave us ketchup. What a rude place, I definitely recommend avoiding it!"

If you are looking for a cost and friendly pub, then look no further. There is a restaurant upstairs will not disappoint. Try the ice cold Budvar , it's the real deal.

The Schwejk Restaurant is probalby the only restaurant in Cologne that serves authentic czech food. You find czech beers and a great variety of czech dishes such as Svickova, Topinky and Smazeny Syr. The staff is very friendly and the amtosphere cosy rustic.

This restaurant is blessed with having a shaded outside dining area. The food and the beverages are good and reasonably priced. The service was fine. There was nothing that made this restaurant stand out as better than average. Would probably continue to try other Cologne restaurants next time.

This was my first stop in Cologne and found it to be very welcoming. The food is very good and the portions are large. I had the bratwurst with sauerkraut and home fries. It was more than enough. It was perfect as I just had a long train ride. The restaurant is located conveniently just a few minutes walking from the station and in the middle of riverwalk action.

I have been visiting this special little place since my frist trip to Cologne in 1999. Just a GREAT place to have a solid German meal, visit with friends and have a drink. I've been there for lunch and many times for dinner. If you are looking for an authentic German experience, NOT in a hotel and NOT a "chain" restaurant, you'd be hard pressed to find something with more atmosphere than here. I am taking a business group there in November View menu

This pub is an interesting one. It has a lot of character and a lot of individualism. You can't get original Budvar here which is delicious and very different to the traditional Koelsch that you get in Cologne (local beer). The food is also traditional but tastes very good and is freshly prepared and served nicely. The waiters can sometimes come across a bit rough but this is typical for this type of restaurant/pub and you find that in a lot of similar establishments. Prices are inline with other places nearby. The place is good for just going there with a friend but also for a large group

We were looking for a place where credit cards were accepteble when saw this restaurant with a sign "Visa is acceptable". So we came in. The waiter showed us to the table in a dark corner with flies. The food was ordinary, nothing special. When it was time to pay and we said that we were going to pay by card the waiter became very rude! He said that they did not accept cards. When we answered that we did not have cash with us and we had entered this restaurant only becase of the sign at the entrance "cards are acceptable" he stomped away shouting something and vigorously gesticulating .We were sitting there in that dark corner with flies around us and didn't know what to do. He returned only...

"In a 5-day stay in Cologne and as a lover of Indian cuisine, we had planned the Ginti. The visit took place on Monday to the beginning of noon. The reception was very friendly and cordial by the Lord of the House. The decor in Ginti is very modern, stylish, but also somewhat sterile and only very discreet supplements with Indian accessories. Young guests will probably find favors in the style of the institution. The place was still empty and so there was a chance to get a brief conversation with the mistress of the house. She brought us the menus, and there were Papadam with three from a culinary point of view pretty boring finished dives. We chose both a mango sauce as a drink that was thin and most likely prepared on the basis of a mango powder. Disgusting! I ordered as main dish Malai Kofta, vegetable balls in a mild curry sauce with ginger, garlic, almonds and coconut. This is not only one of my favorite Indian dishes, but it is also a dish that places higher requirements on a kitchen and therefore cannot be found in any Indian restaurant on the menu. In addition, quality and freshness can be well valued with this bowl. I ordered this dish with a higher sharpness, but not through the sauce, but ultimately through the vegetable balls themselves. The latter were produced excellently and their loose inner composition had the freshness of the preparation felt. This was undoubtedly a 5-star court. My accompaniment had opted for Tandoori King Prawn Masala, marinated royal cloves from Tandoor in a sauce with tomatoes, cashew nuts and raisins. This dish was also very tasty, rather mild and very generous in the number of shrimps. The rice was served unfavorably on an open bowl and had to measure any fragrance and aroma that could originate from cardamom capsules or spice cloves. After the main dishes were convinced, we were curious about the Indian ice cream, Kulfi. This came visually well over a carrot cut into slices, but could not be along tasteful. It was crystallized, little creamy and the aromas of the aforementioned mango powder were reappeared. Conclusion: a highly recommended Indian restaurant due to the excellent main dishes, but not yet matured in its culinary periphery. Therefore, provisionally three stars with an inclination to four."
