"We stopped in for dinner while in Zurich and wrapping up our 8-day trip through Switzerland. We didn 't have reservations and when we arrived there was a line out the door; however, because there were only two of us, we were sat immediately at a communal table with about 9-10 others. The communal table provided us with the opportunity to have a great conversation and banter with 3 Ozzies, a young couple from the Chicago burbs, and about four older Swiss German ? travelers. I ordered the sausage sampler with potato salad and it was very tasty; the slight tang of the creamy potato salad helped to counter the richness and flavorful sausages. I also ordered the 'Beer Flambee with Fire Water ' which is basically a large martini glass into which they pour whiskey, light it on fire, and extinguish it with the house lager. It sounds and looks amazing, but in the end just tasted like a fresh beer and wasn 't much larger than a regular size order. There were little barley bits floating around in the beer which were a little annoying to drink around and I don 't believe added anything to the flavor. Our Australian tablemates ordered the 'Mayor 's Sword ' for 4 people and it truly was a sight to see; a full-sized sword wrapped in grilled meat came to the table. In essence the sword served as a large kabob blade for grilling the meat. Overall, the restaurant has a very entertaining atmosphere and playful theatrics. I 'd go back as the food was tasty and recommend others check it out; it 's a great time!"

A mix of authenticity and tourist. Worth a visit. Order a sword encircled by meat. Good selection of beer. View menu

Noisy restaurant, but a real anthill in a very friendly medieval setting. Top service, and the food is good.

The restaurant was packed, lots of tourists, everyone was squeezed together. Service was slow, somewhat friendly, not really attentive, the main course came while we were still eating our salads. Food was bland, very average at best. Overpriced, will not be back.

Very touristic extremely busy Swiss Keller in the ultra fashionable Parade Platz where you must share tables. Only gripe is that these are rather small and cramped nothing compared to the grand spacious tables you will get in the likes of Schumacher Düsseldorf which afford a much more comfortable experience. Very busy at dinner time! It's an ancient arsenal building! Pilgrims come here from all over the world, and German pig knuckles and sausages are the main characters, a very authentic delicacy! Can be paired with potatoes, fried or stewed potatoes and vegetables! There is a Chinese menu with pictures! So ordering is easy! Add a glass of German beer...and you have a delicious meal!

The food was good. It wasn’t amazing but good. I would come back. If you don’t want to sit with a stranger to eat you better not come here. If you are two people and they sit you at a four top you better believe you will get another couple next to you. You get used to it. It’s not a big deal. It’s very busy everyday so try to make a reservation but if you go in the off season you will be fine. Don’t get me wrong because it’s still busy!

Zurich, a vibrant Swiss city, blends medieval charm with modern flair. Typical cuisine includes Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, a creamy veal dish, often served with Rösti.

"This is my fav Italian joint in Zurich. La Famiglia Tremonte is a small, family run cafe-restaurant that serves excellent and authentic Italian food at prices that are low compared to the norm in Zurich.Famiglia Tremonte is rather inconspicuously located at the corner of Zurlindenstrasse and Birmensdorferstrasse, a couple of doors away from The Desperado Mexican Restaurant. You might need to look for it a little: I lived practically next door and did not notice it for almost a year, and even then a friend had to point it out to me.The restaurant is mostly a takeout with very little seating, i.e. 7 people inside, and when the weather is goo, about 5 people outside. The ambience is basic but, like most things in Switzerland, the interiors are very clean. Staff and service are very goo. The food here is awesome! Authentic Italian fare that is probably heavily influenced by Sicilian tradition since that is where the family is from. I used to visit almost every day because the food tastes great and the prices are so low for Zurich. I have tried almost everything: several pasta dishes, polpettine, stuffed bell peppers, meatloaf, piadina, and of course, the fabulously tasty and hot chilli infused EVOO. I enjoyed every dish I ordered. Great stuff! I strongly recommend the super-hot chilli infused EVOO as a seasoning for almost all dishes, but especially the pasta dishes that come in a cream sauce. Please be careful with chilli EVOO: 0.5 tbsp. for noobs, and a max. of 2 tbsp. for those who like it hot. The chilli EVOO, when used appropriately, adds great flavour to your dish. The piadina is the best I have eaten - period. I have been all over the world, spent a lot of time in Italy and New York (: great place for Italian food lovers :), and I still think this is the best piadina ever. They also serve some nice Italian desserts -- I've tried a few but have forgotten the names. They also have a small selection of Italian ingredients for sale. I bought the pesto and was happy with it. You also get a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic Italian drinks to go with the food.Prices are relatively low by Zurich standards: I rarely ever ate for more than CHF 15, and if I skipped the drinks it was usually around CHF 10. Of course, this varies a bit according to what you order.Highly recommended. Glad I found this place. Great for office workers in the vicinity."
