"My husband and I did a quick 2 night stop-over in Hamburg in the midst of a northern Europe vacation and we ate here after our only full day, so plenty of walking and exploring. The square near this restaurant is a place to visit in itself, it feels like lots of locals sitting out enjoying patio weather (it actually reminded me emotionally of Madrid!) The restaurant is tiny and quaint and perfectly charming, with needle-point floral tablecloths, and run seemingly by a very hardworking pair - they were seating, waiting tables, cooking, bussing tables, the works. We started with the home baked Seelen, a warm caraway seeded bread split and toasted with ham, cheese, and tomato, and the Flaedsupp, a "pancake soup," strips of crepe in a savory vegetable stock. For our meals we both had the classic cheese spaetzle with caramelized onions. The noodles are home-made and seem to have a buckwheat component, they have a great body and flavor. Smothered in emmenthal cheese... I am dreaming of it now. The ultimate comfort food. With the 0.5 liter house riesling to wash it all down, this meal was a delight."

The place is pretty small and easily missed if you are not paying attention. We came here for a late lunch and the spatzle dishes we tried were pretty tasty. Service was prompt also. Cash only though.

I love this place, first time I tried Spaetzle and Ive been back many times. it is a little bit cramped, but then I have probably had too many spaetzle so I am not the best judge. plus they make up for it with friendly smiles and wonderful food.

Great quality traditional Spatzle that are served in classical and vegan options. I took vegan- cheese/smoked tofu spatzles while my boyfriend took classical meat-ones and both were really delicious. Stuff is very nice and speaks English, menu is available in English as well. View menu

App enemy everything is self made. The key is small but highly sufferance. They serve spätzle and Maultaschen. 2 traditional German dishes. Very delicious and for a decent price considering going out in Hamburg is generally expensive. It feels like eating at grandmas which is a huge compliment !

Whenever I am in Germany, I want two things: Schweinsaxe and Kasespaetzle... In the latter case, Zum Spatzle did not disappoint. They were reasonably priced, cozy, and unique. It's worth a walk away from the center and not too far from some less-than-well-known Hamburg city spots. Check it out on your next trip, especially if you're curious about Germany's take on macaroni and cheese!

You definitely need to book if you're hoping to get into this tiny little restaurant! Given it's name it's hardly surprising that their speciality is spätzle, the south german potato noodles, though they have a couple of other dishes too. We had spätzle with onion, bacon and cheese (by far our favourite dish), spätzle with rucola, pesto and cherry tomatoes (second favourite) and spätzle with meatloaf and gravy (least favourite). Restaurant decor is quirky, staff very pleasant, overall a pleasant and slightly alternative experience. View menu

our local friend recommends this small restaurant. it is open on Sunday. perhaps 85% restaurants are closed on Sundays in hamburg. the restaurant is very small, and even 2pm it is full of guests. surprisingly it has English menu. we ordered sparrows...with meat-leaved and fried spatzle with sour wort and smoked tofu. my court was incredibly excellent! the herb was clearly a highlight of the meal. it tasted a little sour, stimulated my appetit. it was something I didn't have in Europe. I loved it. waitresses are very friendly. in general it is a very cozy restaurant with affordable trips.

Recently I was in Hamburg and on my last night, I decided I wanted a change from the local cuisine. I am familiar with schwäbischer food, so I did a quick search of tripadvisor and found this location. As the name ("Zum Spätzle" - schwäbischer Imbiss) implies, this is kind of a fast food place, although it is a sit-down restaurant. It is small, but friendly. As I was dining by myself, I didn't mind the coziness of the place.I had the Käs`spätzle mit Speck and a beer and I was not disappointed. The portion was fairly large and I definitely left with a full stomach. If I were to visit Hamburg again, I would definitely go here again.
