"at the arrival we were very well welcomed and the service is very nice here, we were set immediately. our starters were great, but that's where it ended! this place had a new boil (cook), as confirmed by the waitress and oh it shows! that is. a scandal for this place. the main thing my wife was served, I would ask someone “have they ever heard of a “Slowed belly Pork”, not to crack sat up?” ... but a huge piece slowly cook grossly fat. the answer would be from anyone who is more important a cook, no! we were then told: "It is not intended to crack and in the did have the slimy fat" I liked one! for someone who has worked in the kitchen for a few years, I find this insulting. in addition, I ordered a filet steak, a beautiful rest of the meat, which should be cooked with carefree bread to be served rare medium “good made” ... the waitress to her loan replaced it... shocked... medium turned. not what I wanted! I also asked for a red wine jes to be served a gravy. without red wine taste! at this point they have to ask who is in the kitchen. it's criminal to have a new cook that doesn't fit the ability to cook dishes with such fantastic products from a brilliant metzger that I spend at least months! these courses can be cooked better at home tonight. credit to the waitresses as they have to pick up the pieces, the owner of porterhouse has to get a proper cook that knows how to cook properly because slowly boiled boils. with a plate of slim un-Rededed pork fat is not as it should be done and filet steak is rare to medium as it says! very disappointed"

"We booked the Eileen Proctor night for 7th December 2022, for this to be cancelled 2 hours before the show was about to start. I had to message the facebook page to see when this would be reschduled and they told me it was now going ahead 15th February. The week before this was due to go ahead, I messaged the facebook page to make sure this was still happening as I hadn't seen any advertisement for this. It took 3 facebook messages, an email and 3 phone calls for me to get a response. The response when they finally answered the phone was a rude lady telling me she knew nothing about the event and nothing was in the diary. I asked if the manager could call me as we had paid £45 for this and needed the refund. All I got was a rude facebook message saying she didn't have time to call me back and it had been rescheduled again for April. At this point, they were just making up dates just to tell us anything. My friend (who booked the tickets) went in to collect the refund which they said we could have to be greeted by a rude huff from the waitress and to be told we had to wait. Would not recommend to visit this pub as my first and only experience has been disgusting."

"First time customer Many times I have driven to cleethorpes for gluten free curry sauce and today I was going to do the same, then my wife found the jolly fryer with a huge host of gluten free items including curry sauce The shop was easy to find and parking can be tricky but I managed to park outside. The shop was large and very clean ... like very clean! The staff looked clean presentable ...nothing worse than walking in to a food establishment and seeing someone who looks scruffy! The owner Mr jolly ill get on to him later really has put the effort in to this chippy and it shows The food .... I ordered 1 large gluten free sausage 1 large gluten free cod, gluten free curry sauce and chips The chips wasn't bad .. Nice crisp outer and soft inner they wasn't dripping with oil and nice and dry didn't stick to the box or paper... the only way the chips could be better if they was fried in dripping my personal choice The sausage was a standard chippy sausage not over cooked or dry and was decent The gluten free cod A nice crisp fish batter not to hard and not mushy, the fish was lightly battered and was perfect ... nothing worse than having fish caked in 4mm of batter. The curry sauce A very tasty gluten free curry sauce the viscosity was perfect and wasn't lumpy it was nice and smooth just like the other chippy I use in cleethorpes. Even if you don't have ceoliac disease or a gluten intolerance PLEASE TRY THE GLUTEN FREE CURRY SAUCE!!!! The owner aka... MR JOLLY You can tell he has put his heart in to this place and it shows a very clean and well equipped chippy that put the effort in so everyone can eat hear! Good attention to detail and he take pride in his work! This was the first time I have been to the jolly fryer and first impressions count, he is very welcoming and talks to everyone.. The negative I should have had haddock my own fault I asked for salt and vinegar and non was put on the wonderful lady must not have heard me Overall The food was piping hot even after a 10 minute drive to a less busy spot Mr jolly keep up the good customer service and the pride you take is brilliant A solid 9 out of 10 Will be returning and hopefully next time do a video food review for my channel"

"Our visit to the restaurant tonight was extremely disappointing. We came for a birthday meal at 7pm and despite the restaurant not being busy and having a variety of table options, there was a 40-minute wait for our food. Unfortunately, they were out of Pinot so we had to settle for something else. The Coca Cola had run out of gas and there weren't enough staff to re-gas, serve, and cook. I was given my wine in a J20 glass as they had run out of wine glasses. They had also run out of bacon for the Wednesday special burgers and Hunters Chicken. When we asked a staff member about the issues, we were told that they couldn't have more staff on shift due to not hitting their targets. There was apparently only one staff member behind the bar as the other had dislocated their knee. Some drunk patrons near our table were shouting and swearing loudly. When our meals finally arrived, they were lukewarm at best. The mozzarella dippers were overcooked with no cheese inside and the chicken burger did not look appetizing as advertised. We have been loyal customers for years under the old management and never had issues before. The staff were friendly, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par. We won't be returning. Shame on you, Green King."

"Family get together, 8 of us. The meal was booked well in advance together with pre-ordering. We were booked in for 2pm and just about on time we were shown to our table. We waited and waited, we drew the attention of one of the staff who said she wood find out why we had not been served. Apparently the pre order had been mis-placed. Another member of staff came to check our order. We had ordered 8 roast beef dinners plus one to take away so 9 in total. We waited and waited, it was suggested by one of the group that we should just leave, we decided to give them a little longer. Eventually just after 3.15pm 4 dinners arrived. It was five more minutes when the other 4 were brought to the table. We settled on the one course, it may have been supper time if we waited for desserts. We must have spent in the region of £200 for food and drinks. There was no gesture of goodwill forthcoming only a sorry for the “small” blip by the member of staff. Not overly impressed."

"We came here for Mother 's Day (Sunday lunch). Usually the food here is nice, and the service is usually so so. The owners should be embarrassed at how poor their staff were yesterday. Rude, surly, no knowledge of what they actually had in their hands, and generally 'can 't be bothered do not want to be here '. I suggest if the wait staff don 't want to be there, replace them. Chicken roast was nice although the Yorkshire puddings were raw. The Roast Beef was over cooked and dry All the veg was luke warm (although there was plenty of it). One dessert returned, not only was it shop bought (obvious), it was dry and inedible. Sent it back (it was however still on the bill). Half a teaspoon of ice cream with them. Had to ask for the table (after mains) to be cleared after a good 30 mins. Had to ask for dessert menus after waiting so long for someone to come back, had to ask for dessert spoons (was given one TEASPOON out for 5 people needing them). Those would had cheesecake ate it with the starter fork. One of the cheesecake was half missing compared to the others. It will be a long time before any of us return maybe then if the staff are replaced."

"Always our go-to place for Italian food. The food here is the best Italian we’ve ever tried, it is authentic and good quality. The staff are always happy to help and always check in to make sure everything is okay or if you need anything else. Customer service is clearly important here as it’s always brilliant. The atmosphere is great, not too loud but also not dead quiet."

"w,ent for my birthday 2nd of october ,booked for 6 people we were seated quite quickly and drinks brought then it all went downhill waited 15mins and no one came to take our order so went to find a waitress , then had to ask again for cutlery when we got our food also no gravy with sausage and mash but a mountain of onion on sausages so yet again had to ask for some , asked for bill and waited again for someone to get it , all in all a ruined birthday wont be going again as staff dont seem interested having been a silver service waitress myself they need someone over them in my opinion"

"we have booked the kingway for our parents high-time day. what a farewell! we were asked to preorder our food to avoid disappointment in the night. we have made this via kingsway facebook week before our visit. they miss the meals. as a whole when we arrived and we had to tell them what we ordered. they came halfway through all those who eat there, and the other one did not even arrive until everyone was done. first we were told that we did not order the missing meal, but after we looked at our order on the kingsway Facebook page, it was in black and white there. of us had huh, which I can only assume that they had started cooking it on the day when our pre-order occurred. (It was so dry and calmed, you could melt your teeth with it). as a kind of apologise as they were grounded, we were told that the desserts we have ordered were free. you know that the things are bad if they didn't even ask us if everything was in order with our meals when we clear our tellers away. they knew it was a bad night, and they knew they had done a hate of everything and made us clear. it was a night to remember, but for all false reasons."

"Oh my ….. As soon as we was seated drinks order was taken which was good… greeted by waitress Georgia who’s uniform was one splash of gravy away from looking like she had just been hiking in the peaks… within seconds of sitting down with our carvery, we received a check back not even giving us time to attempted a second mouthful of food …..The mash had no taste, the roasts were very undercooked and the Yorkshire puddings made pancakes look like mountains…. Requested a booth but told there was non available( understand me it was busy) but then seated next to the kitchen where we could hear their music and the chefs swearing which was very off putting,not to mention the load squeak in the swinging door going into the kitchen….When ordering deserts, informed the waitress Georgia I was coeliac and can she point out what was gluten free… she came over told us she’s not telling us what was okay to eat and what do we expect “ we’re not a hotel”…, slammed the allergen matrix tablet on the table and walked off… Took 20 minutes to read through all the deserts to the point we asked can we have it take away… I asked can I get the custard separate and Georgia responded “ I might let the chef know but it depends what mood there in”….. Then waited another 25 minutes for our takeaway desserts even tho we asked for them cold …. The table of 4 who ordered after us revived their hot desserts before us …. Me and my partner both being from the catering and hospitality service was absolute appalled and will absolutely not be returning to this Tobys… I think we would have received better customer service at Karen’s Diner…."

"Updated 16.05.24 Booked a table for two on a Wednesday night at 5.30pm. We were late by 20mins. There is no telephone number on the website to call ahead to let them know. We did not receive a booking confirmation so we also did not have that option to try and rebook or cancel. On our arrival the member of staff that greeted us was rude and abrupt. We were told our table was held for 15 mins so we had lost our booking, by 5 mins. This would have been acceptable if the restaurant was full it was not. I went outside and was able to book another table for 6pm but yet we were still turned away! I cannot stress enough how rude and unhelpful the staff member was. We will never return after being good customers for some time. Reply from Ego After asking me to contact them. Good morning, Marie, I am sorry to learn about your disappointment when visiting us but after investigating the matter with our team at Sutton-on-Ashfield. We have been informed you were 30 minutes late for your table. You wouldn’t have been able to book again at 6 pm as we were fully booked. None of our team came across as rude or abrupt in the conversation with you they were just explaining what had happened with your booking. "We’ve had a few take away from this place over the last few years. Last weekend we decided to actually meal in the restaurant itself, which looks like it’s had a bit of a spruce up inside it looked a lot nicer. Whilst the food was ok, the service wasn’t the best. It was beyond slow, the servers were all so miserable grumpy looking, almost scowls on their faces. It didn’t make you feel welcome. Disappointed."

"My partner and I have been coming to bekash for 10 years and we hadn’t realised it had been taken over, we walked into town and in the restaurant and could see it had been “done up” the whole restaurant feels very clinical now all white. There was us and one other table and the staff were not really interested in us it was like we were a burden being there, we asked after the previous staff members and that’s when they said they had taken over. The food was not flavoursome in my case the spice took over and my partners was bland, I will not be returning."

"This being our local pub for many years, always been lovely, we visited for my daughter’s 18 to finish our night off. Some had food made by the lovely Sheila who’s food is beautiful. Nev brought a few drinks for my daughter as did a few locals. Fab night had by all. Yesterday Saturday 21st December, my 18 year old visited to have food with her friend as she loves the food, to be asked for Id before even ordering, she had her driving licence) she said they only came for food but because her friend was only 17 they was asked to leave as they needed a responsible adult! It was 4.30 pm and the place was empty. I don’t like writing bad reviews but this has infuriated me!! She’s 18 and legally an adult."

"Went in and ordered via the app, was given the option to choose for the kids meals to come out asap or with mains so ticked asap. By the time we had finishes the kids food still wasn’t here so I went up to check (there wasn’t many people in either) asked at the counter to be told by a young lady the chef is plating yours now.. as I walked away I heard the chef turn round to the girl and say “well that’s what you get for having your carvery before your kids food arrives dosent it” I did stop and was going to turn round and confront him but I didn’t want to make a scene espically infront of my children. When the kids food was brought I mentioned to the girl that o heard what he said and I’m not happy about it and that his customer service was shocking, to which she replied “yeah he’s always like that people comment about his bad service all the time. I was going to speak to the management about it but clearly after that comment they don’t care either."

"Friday night chip night, myself my dad son , grandson and daughter in law decided to have chips for our tea, my son and daughter-in-law had fish and chips which they said was good , Oliver (Grandson had sausage chips and beans. Myself and my dad had pie and peas which were frankly dreadful , Stone cold and the peas tasteless, the only benefactor was Ted , our dog, what a total disappointment and waste of money. Certainly will not be spending my money there again. I was charged £40.00 would rather have paid a little more and had the food warm and tasty. What a disaster!!!!"
