"The decor is nice, the food was tasty, well presented, nice enough. Maybe a bit pricey. But unbelievably limited options for GF. Especially in 2023! We had told the pub on booking one of our number was GF so it was not a surprise/unexpected drop in. They didn 't seem to care. Particularly as the menu a) has a huge bread bias...brioche here, toast there, burger buns and soda bread elsewhere and b) is not easily available online. When there we asked what was suitable for a GF diet...there was such a limited choice unless you wanted mussels/baked Camembert/pate/soup with nothing to have with it. Surely in this day and age it is not beyond the wit of man/restaurant to have a GF bread available? Especially is 80% of your dishes contain bread! When asked, the response was rude and defensive. We bake our own bread so don 't have any alternatives . Service both before and after that point was OK...but no warmth or welcome felt. And I felt appalled on my GF friend 's behalf. I am not sure I would bother returning, despite the reasonably tasty food."

"This Sunday roast is truly amazing !! prob one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty had a beef roast plenty of veg gravy everything was hot till the end the roast potatoes crispy on outside and loads of fluffy potato in the middle. sticky toffee pudding and custard for dessert again amazing All the staff were lovely down to earth friendly people who made us feel welcome like part of the family who went out of there way to assist with anything we needed including even holding doors open on departure for my grandad who struggles to walk. Thank you all so much we had a lovely time and are stuffed and very happy and we will certainly be back soon hayley xx"

"children hungry and waiting for dinner as a special treat. ordered nearly £40 worth of food. called as I received an email saying it has been cancelled but as nuxes have prepared the food I will still be charged was told there's nothing they can do even though they have received payment (apparently there was no door number and incorrect phone number on order) used the same app to order we always use and details are saved, never had an issue before. very disappointed and two hungry children, £40 down and no food, will not be ordering from here again."

"Very clean, friendly staff and mostly well cooked and tasty food. I would return if only for the sweet buttery delicious onion bhajis and the delicately flavoured chicken tikka. I suspect its hit and miss but the dishes are mostly of a high standard, well seasoned and not greasy or over-spiced. I found the chips to be a little dry, additionally the tarka daal was flavourless, almost as if they had boiled the lentils, thrown in some coriander and dished it up. Of all the restaurants in the area I would say they are probably the best as, similarly, the tarka daal from biggles lounge in biggleswade can vary from watery to thick porridge depending on who makes it. I will be returning and will recommend to others."

"I have visited Passage to India twice in the past few weeks and both times were thoroughly enjoyable. A group of five all enjoyed the first visit, including a vegan and gluten-intolerant amongst us, on a very busy Friday night. A larger group of 9 had a similar experience 2 weeks later, albeit on a much quieter Sunday night. There is a large selection of dishes including Bengali and Rajesthani on the menu, and the portions were quite generous. They were easily able to adjust the heat and spiciness up or down as required. One of the best Indian-style restaurants for miles, although not the cheapest.... thoroughly recommended."

"Haven’t been into this pub for many many years and was very much looking forward to trying it out for a family birthday lunch. Have to say it was disappointing. We had our 8 year old daughter with us and so asked for a children’s menu… the waiter told us there was no children’s menu so we could pick something from the side orders or anything from the main menu. So I replied ‘Great so she can have a children’s portion?’ The waiter then replies yes but you’ll be charged the full price of the meal!!! Never ever have I been to a pub or restaurant with no kids menu or children’s sized meals at full adult meal prices!!!! Unbelievable!!!!So unacceptable and unaccommodating. So we paid £16 for my daughter to have a chicken burger and chips which seemed like an inconvenience to the waiter when we asked for it to be plain and not include the spicy sauce etc. I was so shocked. I had a roast dinner (nut roast) which was pretty standard, in fact I’d go as far to say below average and over priced. Paxo stuffing balls and a nut roast that tasted like paxo with a few nutty extras. Not a great lasting impression and we won’t be returning. A real shame as this pub is just up the road from us."

"As an ex restaurant manager I was fairly pleased. The quality of the food was very good in general but the starters were not value for money I had Calamari and received just 3 brought in frozen Rings though these were cooked very well tender not rubbery at all, my Friends had prawns and to have only 3 or 4 prawns was shocking. For Mains we had the mixed Meat Platter this was fantastic. We never received one checkback for any course, drinks were not offered when meals arrived or cleared I asked for more, trying to serve rice from a platter to plate with a fork was a challenge as no serving spoon was supplied with sharing platter. In challenging times these little things offering extra bread, drinks, serving spoons, check backs can make the difference to a busy restaurant to a quite one. Increasing a spend per head by £2 per table can make the difference. Would I go back yes but would it be a first choice maybe not ....... though with a bit of work it would be"

"Terrible. Very long wait but didn't seem that busy. Lots of staff that clearly hate their job and or life. It's like they try to make it your worst possible dining experience. They are going out their way to make it disgusting. Burger came luke warm. Drink had no ice and had been sitting so wasn't that cold. The beans were so nuked and could have caused 3rd degree burns. The thigh was OK.Give it a wide berth. Awful. Toilets grim, no soap. 4 Costa express machines all broken. Honestly this has to be the worst run moto in the UK. They win by a country mile. "The only pleasant thing about this place is the young lady front of house. The Italian owner is obnoxious and rude and he will be the death of his own business. do not put fish chips on a menu and then serve terrible frozen breaded re constituted rubbish and then try and justify it when there is a complaint. Equally don’t try and justify it by saying it’s an Italian restaurant when there is nothing to say it’s an Italian restaurant other than a few pasta and pizza dishes on the menu. But it’s ok because he offered for me to only pay £10 instead of £15!!! I did give feedback when I started eating that it was terrible and I did eat my chips and peas because I was so hungry and have nowhere else to go as I am staying in a b b in the area. Literally the weirdest and worst place I have ever eaten and I’ve eaten out a lot. I feel for the young lady that has to work here she could do better! Needles to say I will never return and I’m sure he is pleased of that because I stood up for myself and he didn’t like that."

"We went to Blackbirds the night before my wedding and had a huge group of people. The staff managed to get us a booking in the corner with multiple tables and we had no delay with any food or drinks coming to us. The staff were happy to get involved with talking to us to help make our evening even better, would absolutely recommend The Blackbirds as we now have a memory for life as part of our celebration!"

"The roulette diners descended on the small market town of Ampthill for a Saturday evening curry at the appropriately named Ampthill Tandoori. The beers were flowing, the banter from the waiter was on point, but the arrival time for the food was something to improve on. As was the toilet situation with only a single male and female toilet. Not ideal for a group of young men with small bladders out drinking with the big boys. Starters were ordered, and one of the group ordered what looked like an omelette, but all four ate with absolutely no complaints. A period of football chat then broke out. This included omelette boy making some heroic assumptions about certain premier league defenders that made all others question his sanity. After what felt like too long, the mains then arrived. Two of the group went for the dish which included a bald sauce. There was indeed a distinct lack of hair in their dinner, and all agreed that the sauce was a pleasant surprise! The other two in the group went for a Bombay chicken dish, and something with spices in it. Despite the wait, the dishes impressed. The naans were fluffy and the rice was fragrant. As is tradition, the waiter selected the card of the unlucky punter who would have to pay the bill in full. Bald sauce number 1 tried to add a tip to reflect the fact he had very much enjoyed his folically unendowed meal, but for some reason unknown to everyone the waiter talked down the amount extra that he should pay. As they left, the four young men wondered where their next outing would take them, as they all looked forward to an evening of Pickleball at the world renowned Flitwick Leisure Centre in 2 days’ time. Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Timeliness 3/5 Football knowledge from omelette boy 2/5"

"We visited on Saturday for a 60th Birthday lunch. The staff were wonderful and could not do enough for our party. We had my 10 week old Grandaughter and nothing was too much trouble. The menu was perfect not too much choice but something for everyone. We all had 3 courses.... compliments to the Chef.... we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and super friendly service. We will return...afternoon tea looks tempting. Thank you to the Chef for the lovely 60th Birthday plate...The lady that looked after us asked if it was special occasion...I mentioned its was my husbands 60th and she arranged the beautiful plate with the chef."

"I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and when I got it I questioned whether it was; my friend ordered a latte and hers was frothier than mine. I explained that cappuccinos are usually a lot frothier and the waitress offered to add more froth ... her excuse was that the oat milk the boss buys doesn 't froth well! Evidently he needs to purchase more appropriate ingredients. When it was returned, there was a bit more froth but it was ultimately still a milky coffee (not even a latte! And had been spilled all over the saucer. I also ordered some toast with jam; on the menu it was £2.50. It also didn 't mention butter. The toast arrived already buttered; luckily I 'm lactose intolerant not allergic but certainly not as advertised. Then I go to pay the bill and I 've been charged £4 for the toast! When questioned, the waitress just turned around and asked her boss to speak to me and he said they couldn 't keep changing the menu with all the inflations. I stated that we should have been informed or at least a sign, at which point he pointed out an A4 piece of paper stuck on the wall inside with small print writing on. I 'm not sure it would have been obvious even if we had sat inside, but we were sat outside so we definitely didn 't see it! There was no apology given, and he repeatedly referred to me as lovely clearly in a condescending attempt to placate me. He then passed me off again to the waitress who charged me. I 'm not one for making a scene, particularly in such a small space, and I wholeheartedly support local businesses but there 's a line and they 've crossed it. My friend enjoyed her latte and cake, so perhaps it is only the dietary restrictions and prices that are issues but I dont find it acceptable. In fact, the lack of clarity is quite possibly illegal. I shan 't be returning."

"If you want miserable staff who look like they have recently finished school, faces like they don’t want to be there and can’t even force a smile at customers, with the vibe of a morgue then this is your place to go! Took them 15-20 minutes to take a drinks order for two of us at a table booked for 5:30pm, then another 10-15 mins to come and take food order. When starters came out, we had nachos and garlic bread sharer and asked for an extra two side plates to split portions out, we were then gifted two plates that were dirty and had remnants of food smothered underneath the top one! Food was basic, small portion sizes, very oily truffled fries, basically flooded in the stuff. My ribs almost had a wiff of microwave about them as though they had been cooked in those plastic microwaveable pouches. Waitress didn’t even smile when she took my money, came over with the card reader already with the amount and said “just tap here” and that was it. Overall if I could give it 0 stars I would but unfortunately 1 is too generous."

"I recently visited Langford Hideaway and it is hands down the best coffee shop I have ever been to. The New Zealand coffee is exceptional, and the homemade food and cakes by Nikki are absolutely delicious. I tried the Bacon Blue Cheese quiche today and I must say it was the best quiche I have ever had, even though I am not usually a fan of quiche. It was light and bursting with flavor. The menu at Hideaway is constantly updated on social media and the service is always top-notch. A big thank you to Nikki and the staff at Langford Hideaway for a wonderful experience."

"The food is amazing here all homemade and great quality. Absolutely love the bakery and cakes section, particularly the casta de nata (custard tarts and sweet filled cannelloni both a must try. Coffee is also delicious and there are some seats in there...to sit with a drink/cake. You can order lunch here but I tend to stop for fresh baking ingredients and snacks. There's a huge range of fresh fruit, veg and also a large range of pasta with unusual shapes/types that you wont find anywhere else. If you are in town on a weekday/Saturday be sure to pop in and check it out as we are lucky to have such a good delicatessen."

"Okay, so, the food here is okay, but when looking at the menu, trying to calculate the cost of our meal, just to ensure that we were able to afford the meal out of our budget, we assumed we would be okay. £14 doesn't sound too unreasonable for what we ordered, so we thought it would be okay. We get our food, and it's quite nice. I did get quite uncomfortable at the amount of time the chef was staring at us while we were there, but maybe they just wanted to be friendly. Though, there was a whole lot of giggling and talking in a foreign language. Though it's fine to speak in foreign languages, it would be appreciated if it was not just after staring at me, followed by laughing. So, when it comes to paying, like I said, our meal was to be no more than £14. The man ringing us up then takes almost 5 minutes putting in numbers then restarting because he kept making mistakes. The total then came to just over £18. Quite a ripoff considering the menu shows different prices. It seems they don't just make customers feel somewhat like a joke, but also rip you off with random prices they pull out of thin air. I will not be returning."

"Since I wrote this review a few years ago, giving 5 stars at the time, the food has changed. I presume the ownership changed? Anyway I ordered Butter chicken a week last Saturday and it really upset my tummy. It was very runny, very creamy, and tasted of coconut and strangely yellow, which is not how I have ever had butter chicken before, usually buttery and rich, and full of subltle flavours. I don't think it was off, it just wasn't very enjoyable didn't suit me (I do have some gut problems which it affected. (Butter chicken recipes have always been fine) also there was very small portion of chicken. My upset tummy is only just recovering over a week later. I hope this takeaway can be brought back to its previous delicious high quality recipes. But for now I will most definitely not be returning. I was prompted to review again as I had a follow up text asking me to order again, which was not welcome as I've had a really bad week due to the food! We love Indian Spice consistently beautifully cooked food and excellent service. Thank you."
