"EDIT after a reply from the owner: The table we sat at was completely clear of items/plates/mugs. It was simply a sticky, unwiped table. We were handed menus when we sat down without an offer to wipe the table until the waitress was prompted. I also returned the black coffee and orange juice to the same waitress, who accepted it without asking if there was a problem. You might feel this review does not reflect your business, but it certainly reflected our visit. It was Easter Sunday, you opened at 9, and we walked in at 2 minutes past and sat at a dirty table? Your manic 3 days suggests staff didn't wipe down correctly the day before. My handle is also the name of my favourite song by my favourite artist, and has nothing to do with visiting establishments. An unfortunate, defensive reply which shows a lack of professionalism Sat down at an unwiped table, however the waitress rectified this when I mentioned it. Ordered an orange juice and a black coffee, the orange was concentrate from a carton and the coffee was the worst I've ever tried. Left both almost untouched. My daughter ordered fried eggs on toast which to be fair were good. The scrambled egg my son ordered was abysmal, presumably made by someone who has never scrambled eggs before. The Belgian waffle my wife ordered was rock hard, impossible to cut through with a spoon presumably microwaved for far too long. My belly buster breakfast was fair, although let down by cheap sausages. Expected more from this place after reading reviews. It's seems most people are happy as long as a place is inexpensive. Left a £2 tip because the staff were pleasant and attentive to be fair, and the cheap quality products they work with is not really their fault. Would not return."

"My eagle eyed partner (when it comes to food spotted a tiny ‘Vg’ sign which warranted investigation. Et voila! Vegan ice cream was discovered and thoroughly enjoyed. Having been a few times now, typically there are 4 or 5 flavours to choose from (usually at the right end of the counter) out of a wider 7-8 vegan flavours they have. Technically, they are sorbets which may put some off but don’t be they have the silky smooth consistency of an ice cream and if I hadn’t have been told by the staff, I wouldn’t have known. A big mention has to go to the interior here. As the name suggests, there’s a bit of an Alice in Wonderland vibe here and it just helps make it a little bit more of an experience to visit, especially if you’re not local and have travelled a fair distance. This all sounds great so why only 3*. Well, the problem for vegans at least is that they offer a pretty big menu of ice cream dishes/desserts such as sundaes, waffles and milkshakes. Having gone to the huge efforts of making multiple vegan ice creams, it seemed a big missed opportunity to then find out they had no plant milks at all (I was actually confronted with a ‘what?’ on first asking this question) to make vegan milkshakes. This theme is recurrent to the drinks menu should you wish to get something like a hot chocolate. So do I recommend going? Absolutely. The ice cream itself makes it more than worth it, especially on hot days such as the ones I visited on. It just doesn’t change the fact that they’re only a few tweaks away from being able to open up a much bigger section of the menu to vegans which is a real shame and I hope this is something that changes when I go back in future."

"When I called to book, I was offered two time slots for dinner and took the 6:30pm one (I'm glad we didn't take the later one! . When we arrived, the bar and dining room had a fair number of customers, but there were plenty of spare tables. There was a bit of a wait to be seated in the restaurant and I got the impression the staff were struggling to cope with the limited number of customers. After being seated in the restaurant, we weren't kept waiting too long to order our meals (2 . We didn't order any starters, but we had to wait over an our for our food to be served. A family of four seated on a nearby table had arrived before us and their main course didn't arrive until we'd nearly finished our meals. I have no complaints about the quality of food, I order gammon, which was tasty, not too salty and cooked just right. Having waited so long for our main course, we thought twice about ordering dessert, but took a gamble we wouldn't have to wait quite as long. The desserts arrived reasonably quickly and were very nice. We did receive a verbal apology for the slow service, but at no time did any member of the staff ask if the food was to our liking. The staff were quite pleasant though. Even though we didn't order starters, I don't consider a wait of over an hour to serve a main course is acceptable, and waiting staff should always ask if the food is to the customer's liking. The average rating is a reflection of the poor service and not the quality of food. Had the service been better we would probably have returned for a second meal."
