"brexit meant the usual fight for the personal. the staff was always very friendly and helpful. our room was very kosy, but good for a few days. Eating was very impressive and beverage selection was impressive. lots of space and lots of parking are available. a short walk to the impressive goodrich burg. for us they let themselves be of the fact that the hostelrie is dog friendly. if they are a dog, then ideal for them. we are not and do not like to eat and drink with dogs."

"We made a reservation for a Friday night, but were surprised that the restaurant was not too busy. The pub had a nice atmosphere both inside and out, with a pleasant view of fields leading to the church. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but the service was slow. After ordering our drinks, we waited over 30 minutes for someone to take our food order. The food was of good quality, but there were some presentation issues - the fried fish was cooked well but with some skin left on. It was supposed to come with garden peas, but instead came with a side salad. The waitress offered to change it, but this would have caused a longer wait and disrupted our dining times. Another disappointment was the price - it was £14.95, which was higher than the price listed on the website of £11.95. The dessert selection was good, and the profiteroles were enjoyable. We were also bothered by patrons vaping in the bar, which made the experience less pleasant. Overall, the restaurant was a mixed bag - good in some aspects but lacking in others."

"excellent food and very friendly service. in any case worth a visit. fully deserves the average score of 4.8 (at the time of writing). we stopped here for lunch. the food was delicious with excellent love for detail in preparation. fantastic crispy tweeper rings that melted in mouth and made home chips. a beautiful Scotch egg with a skating egg. beautiful puddings marred only by slightly done rhabarb with a pannacotta. the beer was also beautiful. service was timely and friendly and the pub has a really nice atmosphere. also dog friendly. we'll be back next time in the vicinity."

"This occasion was to celebrate two birthdays for High Tea. Sadly the occasion was not acknowledged by staff although we wrote to tell them twice. The food was quite delicious when it came then when we were finished the staff asked us if we would like our scones with cream and jam? Better late than never but not well orchestrated. Despite the lack of attentive staff we did enjoy ourselves very much and appreciated the food prepared. The two cake stands had slightly different top layers which was a bit confusing and caused negotiations which we shouldn’t have had to do. 5*s would’ve been awarded without those small annoyances. Apart from that we recommend going there for afternoon tea of any description"

"Beautiful building with a gorgeous interior but unfortunately that's about as good as it got. The lady who greeted us (looked down her nose more like) was very unwelcoming and barely cracked a smile. I found her to be very rude. We booked our meal for 13.15 and we got through 2 courses by 14.20 and when we asked about the sweet menu the ladies response was*I'll have to check the time ... I'm sorry but that's not how you run a hospitality business. The lady had the charm of Basil Fawlty. The food was ok at best with a very high price for what we had. It's such a shame because the building is gorgeous. In my honest opinion. 10/10 for the venue 6/10 for the food 1/10 for the service."

"We stop here a lot as it's the best food, value, service, anywhere. Often have the soup but torn between that and jacket potatoes. Really don't know how they do this quality for such reasonable prices too. LOVE the soup but fancied jacket potatoes. Flavour, huge portions and warm and friendly staff. Must try other food as all looks incredible. LOVE the banoffee pie and all the cheesecakes. Had a rushed stop a few weeks ago and had a bacon roll. How many pieces of bacon went in there?!! 10 stars, not 5. See you soon, thank you!"

"Had lunch on a Saturday after a wonderful exploration of the nearby famous medieval church and castle and were most pleasantly surprised. The sort of menu where you could have chosen lots of dishes-between three of us we enjoyed bream, fish and chips and duck...followed by sticky toffee pudding and a frangipane tart. We all agreed that our meals were delicious-hot, fresh, tasty, well presented and from locally sourced ingredients (where possible). Service was professional, unintrusive and friendly. The bar area where we were seated was cosy and dog friendly. Clean loos are always a good point -and not always a given, sadly. The resident spaniel was very attentive while we were eating but I think there was a bit of cupboard love going on there…Would definitely recommend and will be returning."

"Visited Mahis for the first time with my girlfriend's mum and sister. It was great. We live in London and often have trouble finding a really good Indian so were delighted to find such an outstanding one in Bromyard. The food was lovely, perfectly spiced and full of flavour, and also very reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and keen to offer their advice on the dishes, or even mix things up a bit to suit your tastes. Would definitely recommend!"

"Just returned from a few days in Herefordshire and visited this inn on Friday evening (3rd June). Having booked in advance, we did a quick tour of the village of Dorstone and found it a charming traditional village. We arrived shortly after the pub had...opened and received a warm welcome from the lovely land lady and staff. The pub had a rustic charm and was very olde worlde, or a 'proper pub ' as we like to call it. We ordered the pork loin and a chicken curry, and the food was fantastic with a considerable amount on both plates, so much that my wife struggled to finish hers. Stayed for a couple of hours and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. If you want a traditional inn, fantastic food, lovely staff and a good pint or two in an area of outstanding natural beauty, do yourself a favour and book in advance, it 's well worth it!! Hope to return at some future date."

"This town pub is fantastic, always bustling with customers. They have TVs showing sports during major events and host regular live music performances. "We had booked our Christmas dinner her for the whole family, none of us have ever been out for Christmas dinner ever so was the first for us and can honestly say we were absolutely 100 percent happy with everything! There was about 17 of us all together and the food and service was amazing. All of the staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. Nothing was to much trouble. Really happy with the whole experience and all of us said that we will book again next year for the Christmas lunch. Was very happy with everything. Thank you to all of the staff"

"We visited friends who were staying in LittleTarrington and they booked the Crown and Anchor for us to have lunch. A friendly welcome was offered by the staff and we ordered drinks and were shown to our table. The Sunday lunch menu offered 4 starters and 4 main courses with a vegetarian option. Our wives both had Roast Turkey, whilst we men both had the Beef (served medium rare),all arrived with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoe's,carrot's and parsnips, whilst the ladies also had homemade sausage meat stuffing to accompany the turkey, and separate dishes of cauliflower cheese,brocolli and cabbage were delivered as sides. An extra jug of gravy was requested and duly delivered along with horseradish and cranberry sauce. All were polished off and empty plates the order of the day. For dessert 3 of us had apple crumble and custard and 1 of us ate ETON MESS sundae. With a couple of bottles of DOOM BAR 0% alcohol,1/2 lager and a J20 the bill came to a reasonable (inc drinks) about £110. A lovely way to spend an hour or so in a nice country pub, with nice food and genial hosts. We are all hoping to return very soon."

"Visited here for lunch whilst meeting other family members. When arriving the landlady isn’t the most welcoming however, the food was great! Great portion sizes and served quickly. There are two dinning rooms one on the left and another to the right. The rooms have stone floors and were chilly despite the open fire being lit. The pub is very traditional and back in time. However, cleanliness isn’t a strong point there! Overall I would go back to the new inn as food is great and the young waitress was brilliant, provided a great service. But towards the end of dessert they were flashing the lights as a signal to leave, no “would you like the bill? Or “just to let you know we’re closing soon” just a flicker of the lights. I wouldn’t expect that as we had spent £240 between 8 of us. But never mind had a great time!"

"Just the loveliest people. My mum remarked that she liked the colour of the walls, and wanted to paint her living room that colour, and the pub owner gave her the pot of paint!! Food was delicious, huge array of vegan options. The roast in particular was plentiful and gorgeous, including a vegan cauliflower cheese (ask ahead of time to ensure you get it , nut roast, and all the vegetable trimmings. Very tasty vegan chocolate fudge cake (one of around four vegan dessert options with custard, whipped cream or ice cream if you want : My mum said it was the most attentive and considerate customer service she’d ever had — and that was BEFORE the paint gift. Can’t wait to go back. Tip generously to this lovely gang and do order the vegan options :"

"This is very much a pub at the heart of a rural community. Lovely village Green opposite with croquet pitches a rare sight! We booked following good reviews on here and when we realised that they had a chef in on Friday and Saturday we hoped for a good meal. We have paid twice as much in the past for nowhere near as well made, presented, and delicious food. Our starters were courgette and mozzarella cannelloni and salmon gravadlax both 10/10 Main courses were grilled mixed fish and a Katsura curry with sticky rice and kimchi pickled vegetables. Unbelievably good tastes, portion size, presentation and service. We live 3 hours away but I can see us planning a repeat trip just for this secret gem of culinary delight. Friday and Saturday chef dinner nights. Bonne cuisine! Merveilleux! Merci!"

"I visited for an evening meal with 17 other women, unfortunately it had only been booked for 17. I had ordered roast beef was the last to be served to be told there was no more. ? (I suspect pre packed roast dinners.. . The lady in charge then stood in the middle of the room bemoaning the fact that the numbers were wrong; she made me feel as if it were my fault and was quite unhelpful. She said did I want fish and chips? Or cottage pie? Eventually brought a menu (suspiciously large and I chose sirloin. At which point she said I would have to pay more for that! Of course when the food was brought out most of the others had finished their meal. The meat was gristly and I left most of it. (my friend had a doggy bag for her dog and that is where it went to When I went to pay she didn't charge extra for the sirloin which was just as well. I have given one star for service, I may say the other girls serving were fine. The food, may be one star as well I am afraid. We are all locals, and this pub will not be getting our support again."
