"I made a reservation for New Year's Eve and received an email confirmation. After checking the menu link provided, we knew exactly what we wanted. However, when we arrived at 9:30 PM, we discovered that the menu had been changed to a fixed four-course meal, which cost almost double what we had anticipated! I asked the waiter why we hadn't been informed of this change, but he simply said, "That's just how it is." Overall, it was a disappointing experience with poor service, and I won't be returning."

"You could be fooled into thinking the food service is great as it looks busy from the outside. It was very expensive for what it was. Difficult to get a pizza wrong but the crusts were really difficult to cut through even with a sharp knife. Penne pasta dish was tiny and left our soon very hungry. Deserts tasted like they were bought in a supermarket. To make things worse my father left his 80th birthday card unopened on a chair. He realised and went back with 3 MINUTES. I had been opened by the staff there was no money in it ! and then ripped up and thrown in the bin. He was really upset and no apology. Much better Italians in town at the other end."

"On a lovely autumn day, we arrived at South Lodge and were greeted with stunning views of the hotel grounds. We were welcomed and escorted to the Camellia restaurant, but first stopped by the nearby bar for a pre-lunch drink. The service was exceptional and very friendly. Despite it being a busy Sunday lunch, the service remained top-notch. I savored a delicious three-course Sunday roast beef lunch and finished off with coffee and shortbread biscuits on the terrace. Overall, it was a special dining experience."

"Dinner at The Pass by Ben Wilkinson It is located in South Lodge, one of the finest country house hotels in Sussex. The kitchen is run by Ben and his partner Monika Zurawska, who leads the front of house team. The Pass is a small space, with a large glass wall that stands between the restaurant and the kitchen. An intimate restaurant, offering a unique dining experience for up to 28 diners. You sit at the high topped tables to watch Ben and his young team prepare and then proudly serve a seven course tasting menu. The meal starts with a complimentary glass of fizz and a selection of tasty snacks. The first course is a scallop dish with hokkaido squash, espelette pepper, coppa ham almond. The next course was a show stopper of a Celeriac dish like no other we have ever encountered. Royale beef cheek hen of the woods truffle with a beef fillet smoked emulsion tartlet on the side. As well as a glass of broth with fresh bread and cultured butter. The rest of the courses arrive in quick succession, delivered by chefs who explain each component. Day Boat Turbot, leeks squid dulse white asparagus, Ridgeview sparkling. Venison, roast loin liver dumpling bitter leaves hazelnut artichoke redwine. A course of 3 cheeses. Desserts were Rhubarb, ewe's milk curd rose yoghurt. Chocolate Délice, caramel hazelnut raisin. Just when you thought it was all over, there was a selection of Petit Fours with a sorbet on the side. There's not many hotels that can boast three award winning restaurants, of which this is their flagship. That has just retained its Michelin Star. The food was faultless with staff, charming, and professional."

"Service: 11/10 Starter: Calamari Duck Parfait - 10/10 Main Course 1: 50-Day Aged Fillet Mignon with Bordelaise Sauce (cooked *Blue*) - 100/10 Main Course 2: Fish and Chips - 9/10 Dessert: Hot Brownie - Over 9000! I want to extend my thanks to the front-of-house team for their warm welcome. Although we arrived a bit late, they were incredibly accommodating. Special thanks to Irvana (I hope I spelled that correctly) for providing excellent service! My steak experience took me on a nostalgic journey—like Anton Ego savoring his ratatouille in Gusto’s restaurant. It reminded me of a family meal in Holland during my childhood, where I had my first real steak. This may have even surpassed that memory! I was initially hesitant about dining at Miller and Carter since it's a chain restaurant, but if you're feeling the same way, let me assure you: don't be. While it may not be the cheapest option, it definitely deserves a smart-casual dress code that anyone who understands proper dining etiquette should respect. Curious, I browsed through other reviews, and I found it hard to believe anyone could leave a 1-star review without sounding like a “Karen.” It’s important to take reviews with a grain of salt—this is truly a fantastic restaurant! In summary, if you're a fan of steak, this place will take great care of you and provide excellent recommendations for how to enjoy your meal just the way you like it. Perfect!"

"This is a beautiful traditional pub with a fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your meal. The garden is lovely, offering plenty of entertainment for the kids, who especially loved the chickens and the chance to run around. We visited for a party weekend, and the food was fabulous! Two members of our group had the fry-up breakfast, while another enjoyed the salmon dinner, and we also tried the steak burger, all of which were delicious! It’s a great pub all around, and I highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning soon!"

"We discovered this lovable restauraunt while walking the South Downs way. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so much that we have since been back several times despite it taking us over an hour to get there from Southampton! We see it as an adventure for special occasions. Tonight we took our sister and her husband for the first time and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed starters of white bait, baked mozarella and garlic bread. For our mains we stuck with the classics; carbonara, lasagna and mushroom risotto. And for dessert we all enjoyed the chocolate soufflé on the specials board! My husband enjoyed the draft beer on tap while our brother enjoyed a merlot with his meal. Everyone enjoyed a limonchello after except me as I am a tee total and designated driver! We love the owner who is a friendly chap from Rome, he always makes us feel welcome and takes good care of us. We drove home full of good comfort food and in high spirits! A beautiful night out! Would highly reccomend. Parking: Free street parking after 6pm Mon-Fri, free on weekends."

"We decided to try River Moon for a takeaway and was not disappointed! We ordered the set menu A for takeaway and a 1/4 crispy duck for the kids. The portion sizes were great with leftover food from 2 adults and 2 kids. The food itself was incredible. Amongst the dishes we had were massaman curry, sweetcorn cakes, beef with garlic and pepper, and chicken satay. For me, the massaman was the stand out, with a beautiful taste and huge, fresh, melt in the mouth bits of chicken. I couldn't fault it. I would highly recommend Riven Moon and look forward to visiting for a meal at the restaurant!"

"have eaten two separate occasions here. the first was during going my dogs and stayed without calling vegan options, and both the suppe and the Pasta special were vegan. had the pasta, because I heard good dinge over the Italian cook and it was nice! the second time I went to dinner with my family specifically because they had good vegan options before. the cook had prepared what he called vegan surprise, which was a selection of Italian dressed, among them various pastas, cooked in lemon and balsam sauces, and brote, which was also beautiful. they are also easily accommodated if a vegetarian member of the party has failed nothing from the menu and made it the same instead of just preparing for one. also has a nice atmosphere with friendly pub dogs! worth a visit."

"Nice decor, pleasant hardworking, albeit inexperienced young workforce, food was a letdown. Synopsis from our table... Cauliflower wings- dry and bland. Ham hock terrine- not very nice. Mussels- overcooked, broth was OK, bread was burnt. Pie, chicken and bacon- tasted of nothing but tarragon, chips weren't good, little gravy. Ribs- way too smokey, maybe synthetic, slaw inedible. Cod- tarragon overload. Fish and chips- fish fried too long, almost burnt batter. Was not busy when we visited, and hardly a surprise really based on the food we recieved."

"The people there were very nice, the feel was very pleasant, had to move a table around so I could face my boyfriend a bit which was good. The way the tables were set up (chairs were perpendicular to each other) still give an intimate feeling but we wanted something more direct. Very good food, the mozzarella tomato and basil is an amazing combo and the pizza’s were fab!"

"I returned for lunch today and was attended to by Tony, who suggested we try the Lobster special. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. This Italian restaurant truly excels with their excellent staff, both in service and in the kitchen."

"What a lovely Thai restaurant. Not from the area but Billingshurst is half way between my home and my daughters home. She wanted Thai. It did not disappoint. The staff were lovely and attentive, the food was beautiful as Thai food is. The squid temura was spot on and presented beautifully. My daughters Tom Yum was very much to her liking. The main dish was huge. Thai red curry and special rice. I got a doggy bag. If you like Thai, and can visit this place is highly recommended and with parking directly outside you simply cannot fault it."

"Went on chance for a snack lunch. Good car park and free Wi-fi. You find a table, order your food at one bar and then go to another for your drinks giving your table number. You pay when you have finished. Large menu with large range of choices. Pub very busy with mostly older groups. Food took a while but our ploughman’s and ham sandwich were very good."

"We chose this café as a convenient half way meet up for a family birthday breakfast and didn't have any expectations as hadn't read any reviews but what a find!! The restaurant itself had a very friendly and welcoming feel, the staff were amazing and attentive and as for the food wow amazing delicious. All of our meals were spot on, probably the best omelette I have ever eaten. Everything was so fresh and tasty from the lovely bread to the amazing sausages to the vegan options. Also lovely little touch to get a chocolate Santa with our tea. Thank you for looking after us and making our day husband birthday special we will be back and are planning to make this a family tradition to meet at the Little Bean Café"

"Firstly it is always good to get an itemised bill. We ordered two teapots, two light lunches (veg tart and salad, coronation chicken with jacket , and two cakes. The bill came to 25.35 which was probably right but it is nice to check. This figure was written on a piece of paper and we were sent to the other till to pay it. When the tea arrived we noticed a brown rim on the inside of one of the cups. Perhaps it had ended up in the wrong pile in the kitchen but it had not been washed properly so had to get this changed . Not a good sign in these days of Covid. I then noticed that both the little pots of tea were only just over half full why? We did not complain about this too as did not want to spoil the experience. Our food came and quite modest potions. The jacket potato was a bit yellow on the inside as if it had been baked to an inch of it's life, the coronation chicken was good and my wife's veg tart was quite tasty. I was still hungry at the end so I ordered a veg tart too . 5.95 . I also brought the tea pots back for a top up of water (and was asked if we wanted tea? and then noticed that they had given us about a third of a pot of water. After spending 31 you would have thought that would have been okay but water must be mighty expensive in Pulborough. My feeling was that overall it was okay but a bit mean spirited. It is not the sort of place that you would go out of your way to drive to, but if you are thirsty and peckish in Pulborough it is in a good location."

"We went with friends for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and looked well laid out. We could choose which table we wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and were attentive but not overbearing. The food was cooked to order. We had prawns, scallops and squid which were all cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. I had an alcohol free gin and tonic which was served ice cold in a large glass and was delicious. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the drinks were very expensive."

"We rediscovered this place over the summer, and my wife and I have visited at least six times for both lunch and dinner. We never made a reservation, but we've always been welcomed without issue. The service is consistently excellent, and the quality of the food is outstanding. The portions are generous, and this is the only restaurant I've been to in recent years that doesn't feel overcrowded or uncomfortably cold. It’s just as great for a special occasion as it is for a casual meal. My only regret is that I haven't had the chance to try a full English breakfast yet."
