"I made a reservation for New Year's Eve and received an email confirmation. After checking the menu link provided, we knew exactly what we wanted. However, when we arrived at 9:30 PM, we discovered that the menu had been changed to a fixed four-course meal, which cost almost double what we had anticipated! I asked the waiter why we hadn't been informed of this change, but he simply said, "That's just how it is." Overall, it was a disappointing experience with poor service, and I won't be returning."

"My partner and I went to La Piazetta on a Friday night for his birthday as we both love Italian food and previously had very good experiences there, however something has gone seriously downhill in the past year as we have had two bad experiences there now! The first of these two experiences the service was great however the food was not up to standard of what we have had previously however it was a busy Saturday night so we put it down to it being busy and just agreed it was fine however the experience we had on Friday the 20th of October was extremely bad! My partner has also been recently diagnosed with gluten and dairy intolerance which was mentioned on the booking we made. My partner had the Gamberoni Piccanti and I had the Fungghi Gorgonzola as starters, my starter was very nice however my partners was not as he had a maximum of 4-5 Prawns which to be honest was not worth £9.95 at all! For mains my partner had a gluten free vegan pizza with roasted vegetables and I had the Linguini Marinara and we were not happy at all! The pizza was burnt on one side and very pasty to the taste on the other edge, with minimal pizza sauce, a small handful of vegan cheese, 1 tiny bit of pepper, 2 slices of masserated aubergine and 2 small slices of half grilled courgette! My linguini was a pale of what I had previously when I ordered this dish! I had several empty mussel shells, 2 pieces of Squid and Prawns, and about 3 clams, but when I had this dish before it had almost double the amount of everything and tasted fresh instead of a sauce that tasted premade and a brought in product with a handful of herbs chucked in. I don 't know if the chef has changed or if they have had to drastically cut costs or what I have no idea however I would not recommend this place to anyone where before I would go away ranting and raving about this restaurant! We also did not recieve a checkback once while we were there! Nobody came to ask about our food or if everything was okay, this to me is a bad sign in a restaurant seeing as I work in the industry myself and know how food service in restaurants works. When we spoke to one of the servers about the meal she said she would speak to her manager and she didn 't come back with a resolution to the problem she just gave us the bill with the pizza removed which I requested. I would not recommend this place to anyone as it is currently stands because it has certainly fallen from grace and I do not believe me and my partner will be returning."

"If you sit outside, the noise of from the take away coffee queue (crying kids and barking dogs) is overwhelming. To the point where you can’t hear a friend talking right next to you. The waiter staff are lovely. They are both French which adds to the charm but they don’t always understand requests. So it can be hard to communicate changes to orders or special requests. Other than that this is a stunning venue. I would 100% return but I won’t sit near the take away coffee pick up point."

"My husband and I booked for dinner. I had roast pork which on the whole was good. The cauliflower cheese however was anything but cheesy. They had melted some cheese over the top and it looked delicious. But as soon as you got under that bit of added topping, it was tasteless and watery. He then knocked over the salt grinder after I had used it and it was disgustingly rusty. I wondered why I had brown bits in my salt. It was that bad I pictured it and pointed it out to the waitress who said she would mention it to someone.....and then didn't seem to do anything about it. I would have removed it straight away. The table next to ours was the same. I also don't appreciate having service charge added without any mention of it beforehand. I will decide how much tip I leave!!"

"We had Sunday lunch at the Green Man yesterday and I can honestly say it’s the best roast dinner I’ve had at a pub for many years in fact I am struggling to think of one as good ever. We were a party of six and three of us had starters. The duck pate was very good could have done with one more piece of bread as there was a LOT of pate. The avocado starter was tasty but the Tiger Prawns were absolutely divine. A generous plateful cooked to perfection and so tasty. Then there were the roasts WOW! The three males in our party all went for the Combo with beef and pork and our plates arrived absolutely piled with meat. We all asked for our beef medium rare and I can honestly say it was the tastiest cut of beef I have ever had in a pub Sunday roast. It melted in the mouth and was full of flavour. My wife had a roast halibut dish which she said was amazing. Unfortunately we were so full after two courses we couldn’t face a dessert. All of us said we were going to hole to flop on the sofa for several hours and recover. The place was totally full and I can see why we had to pay a deposit. They could fill a place twice the size easily. For a small pub they had loads of staff who were all very friendly and cheerful and who checked on us constantly without being intrusive. We don’t live locally so it may be our only visit which is a shame as I’d go back there anytime."

"Nice decor, pleasant hardworking, albeit inexperienced young workforce, food was a letdown. Synopsis from our table... Cauliflower wings- dry and bland. Ham hock terrine- not very nice. Mussels- overcooked, broth was OK, bread was burnt. Pie, chicken and bacon- tasted of nothing but tarragon, chips weren't good, little gravy. Ribs- way too smokey, maybe synthetic, slaw inedible. Cod- tarragon overload. Fish and chips- fish fried too long, almost burnt batter. Was not busy when we visited, and hardly a surprise really based on the food we recieved."

"My mother and I had been following the Masterchef Pro comp ' last year and were really keen to sample some of the winner, Tom Hamblet 's, food. We travelled a 4 hour round trip for the experience. We don 't eat at fine dining restaurants often but we are foodies. Firstly, the setting of the restaurant is very lavish and comfortable with warm low lighting. That said, the dinner experience was a little too dark for my mother so that 's something to think about if you struggle with eyesight and low lighting. The service was friendly, attentive and speedy/efficient. The food: I 'll start with the dessert because that was a real pleasure for us. We both loved the flavours of Tom 's end of series winning dessert so the meal ended on a high (we ordered the Olive Oil sponge with lemon curd). I recommend not ruining your palette with the overly sweet petit four that are placed in front of you following dessert unfortunately ours were more sugar flavoured than any other identifiable flavour. Our starters and mains were very VERY underwhelming. They arrived looking beautiful, neat and tidy but failed to deliver on taste. I had wanted the celeriac themed starter but the waiting staff told me the vegan/veggie starters and mains were created by their head chef and not Tom. That was disappointing as his 3 month residency was the reason we 'd visited the restaurant. We ended up both having the lobster starters after the waiting staff recommended it highly as either a starter or an additional dish to share. The claw meat was minimal and tough and the foam mousse took centre stage on the plate. Whilst the plate had lots of textures to it, we felt it was unbalanced and generally with no 'wow ' to it. We enjoyed the coffee and rye bread with butter and pollen/fennel that came prior to this thought. I ordered the Guinea Fowl as a main after the waiter described it as a gamey, dark and tender meat. I feel like a better description to someone that hasn 't had guinea fowl before would be 'it 's like a chicken breast with a different flavour '. This is what arrived in front of me and I actually found it was quite dry and not dark at all! I would never have ordered anything that resembled chicken breast anyway so I felt ill informed about my choice. I also thought the girolles were overwhelmingly tart. I didn 't enjoy my main. Mum 's Hogget was nice but average for her too. Last comment I 've never in my life paid £6.50 for less than 1.5ltrs mineral water beware! I don 't care how much money you have it 's water!!!"

"Dinner at The Pass by Ben Wilkinson It is located in South Lodge, one of the finest country house hotels in Sussex. The kitchen is run by Ben and his partner Monika Zurawska, who leads the front of house team. The Pass is a small space, with a large glass wall that stands between the restaurant and the kitchen. An intimate restaurant, offering a unique dining experience for up to 28 diners. You sit at the high topped tables to watch Ben and his young team prepare and then proudly serve a seven course tasting menu. The meal starts with a complimentary glass of fizz and a selection of tasty snacks. The first course is a scallop dish with hokkaido squash, espelette pepper, coppa ham almond. The next course was a show stopper of a Celeriac dish like no other we have ever encountered. Royale beef cheek hen of the woods truffle with a beef fillet smoked emulsion tartlet on the side. As well as a glass of broth with fresh bread and cultured butter. The rest of the courses arrive in quick succession, delivered by chefs who explain each component. Day Boat Turbot, leeks squid dulse white asparagus, Ridgeview sparkling. Venison, roast loin liver dumpling bitter leaves hazelnut artichoke redwine. A course of 3 cheeses. Desserts were Rhubarb, ewe's milk curd rose yoghurt. Chocolate Délice, caramel hazelnut raisin. Just when you thought it was all over, there was a selection of Petit Fours with a sorbet on the side. There's not many hotels that can boast three award winning restaurants, of which this is their flagship. That has just retained its Michelin Star. The food was faultless with staff, charming, and professional."

"Service: 11/10 Starter: Calamari Duck Parfait - 10/10 Main Course 1: 50-Day Aged Fillet Mignon with Bordelaise Sauce (cooked *Blue*) - 100/10 Main Course 2: Fish and Chips - 9/10 Dessert: Hot Brownie - Over 9000! I want to extend my thanks to the front-of-house team for their warm welcome. Although we arrived a bit late, they were incredibly accommodating. Special thanks to Irvana (I hope I spelled that correctly) for providing excellent service! My steak experience took me on a nostalgic journey—like Anton Ego savoring his ratatouille in Gusto’s restaurant. It reminded me of a family meal in Holland during my childhood, where I had my first real steak. This may have even surpassed that memory! I was initially hesitant about dining at Miller and Carter since it's a chain restaurant, but if you're feeling the same way, let me assure you: don't be. While it may not be the cheapest option, it definitely deserves a smart-casual dress code that anyone who understands proper dining etiquette should respect. Curious, I browsed through other reviews, and I found it hard to believe anyone could leave a 1-star review without sounding like a “Karen.” It’s important to take reviews with a grain of salt—this is truly a fantastic restaurant! In summary, if you're a fan of steak, this place will take great care of you and provide excellent recommendations for how to enjoy your meal just the way you like it. Perfect!"

"The food at this restaurant is excellent, with a variety of lovely choices on the menu and friendly staff. All dishes are beautifully cooked, especially the sticky toffee pudding, which is the best I've ever tasted. It comes with vanilla ice cream, but I swapped it for ginger and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend a visit. Sometimes you may even be lucky enough to see a horse and carriage in the car park, and the picturesque village properties you drive through add to the overall lovely experience."

"My wife treated me to a meal on Monday 16th October. I have to say it rates as one of the worst meals I have eaten. We were told after sitting down that two of the menu choices were unavailable so I chose the curry dish and my wife the fish and chips, both of which were clearly microwaved. My memories of the food at this pub were of a very high standard but last nights has changed my view. Maybe the food would be better on another night when the restaurant is fully open but avoid a Monday night."

"We discovered this lovable restauraunt while walking the South Downs way. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere so much that we have since been back several times despite it taking us over an hour to get there from Southampton! We see it as an adventure for special occasions. Tonight we took our sister and her husband for the first time and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed starters of white bait, baked mozarella and garlic bread. For our mains we stuck with the classics; carbonara, lasagna and mushroom risotto. And for dessert we all enjoyed the chocolate soufflé on the specials board! My husband enjoyed the draft beer on tap while our brother enjoyed a merlot with his meal. Everyone enjoyed a limonchello after except me as I am a tee total and designated driver! We love the owner who is a friendly chap from Rome, he always makes us feel welcome and takes good care of us. We drove home full of good comfort food and in high spirits! A beautiful night out! Would highly reccomend. Parking: Free street parking after 6pm Mon-Fri, free on weekends."
"Well regarded oasis a mile or so into rurality just off the A272 near Billingshurst. Plenty of parking, and on a warm evening the nearest entrance is via the open restaurant doors. Contemporary refurbishment has been resisted so there's a bit of a comfy 70's feel inside with the slight novelty of a small farm shop between the restaurant and a tiny bar. Maybe there's a more public bar somewhere else; if so, I didn't spot it. Anyway, I suspect that the main focus is on food, and there were already a few punters at the trough when we arrived early on a Thursday evening. Once we were settled in, we weren't expecting a particularly noteworthy evening. The menu had the usual pub fare, and the two ladies serving seemed rather diffident. However, as we considered our options our (actually very pleasant) server helpfully directed us to the hitherto unnoticed specials board. Upon perusal, I started to get a warm fuzzy feeling of expectation. I wasn't exactly sure what a canon of lamb involved, but it was a special and I wanted it. Excellent choice too. It turned up looking not too dissimilar to a sliced duck breast and was all meat and subtly flavoursome. Supported by mashed potato with small pieces of discernible black pudding and a tasty flavoursome redcurrant jus, so the whole package was a really splendid dish, and a very welcome surprise. Mrs EPR stuck to the menu and clearly enjoyed her chicken and BBQ ribs combo. Nothing on the dessert menu really took our fancy, but we did agree with our nice server that two slices of coffee and walnut cake from the farm shop would be a good alternative option. I admired the creative solution and the cake was just fine. I also liked the compact and sensible wine list which offered a range of affordable options Certainly, our french merlot provided enjoyable lubrication during the course of our meal. So, a good result all round we look forward to our next visit."

"We live in Pulborough and go to this restaurant regularly. We are very lucky to be able to walk there. The food is delicious. Our favourites are the flavourful and tender tamarind duck and the Panang Curry. We always order a side of steamed vegetables which are prepared expertly, fresh and firm. The employees are friendly and helpful...especially the amazing, First. She is wonderful."

"There were nine of us, coming from various locations in the south, so the location was a perfect central spot for everyone. The pub and its surroundings were beautiful. The food was amazing, and they were even able to accommodate my picky eating preferences. Thank you to the staff for that! We all had a wonderful time, with a great atmosphere and perfectly mixed drinks. The menu had a good selection and was well presented. The staff was very friendly. We hope to visit again in the future. Thank you to everyone involved for a fantastic experience!"

"The mirrors in the restaurant create an illusion of more space, which is nice, although my wife and I found them a bit distracting since they reflect the dining area from various angles. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and will definitely return. As for parking, there’s a multi-storey car park right across the street, costing £4.80 for a two-hour stay. The restaurant is kid-friendly, offering smaller portions for children. However, it's worth noting that while the restaurant has access on the ground floor, it was closed during our visit, and the main dining area is located on the first floor, accessible only by an outdoor staircase."

"I returned for lunch today and was attended to by Tony, who suggested we try the Lobster special. The food was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, bursting with flavor and absolutely delicious. This Italian restaurant truly excels with their excellent staff, both in service and in the kitchen."

"Was lucky enough to be in Billingshurst this weekend and experience the wonderful food of The Chef Thai Billingshurst. The food is fresh and cooked really well. I had the crispy chilli duck with sweet chilli sauce which was amazing. The service was excellent, efficient and always with a smile. The restaurant is small and very popular, so make sure you book advance. Loved it so much, we ate there twice in three days. Parking: There is paid for parking outside of the restaurant which is small and free after 7.30pm. However, it is seriously regulated during the day and apparently the parking attendant is a zealot so make sure you comply with the parking regulations."

"My friend and I went for lunch here but were extremely disappointed with the food. I ordered sausages in onion gravy with bubble and squeak and she had chicken casserole. Firstly the sausages with bubble and squeak …. My understanding of bubble and squeak was mashed potatoes with vegetables mashed together and fried until golden brown on the outside … here their version was mashed potato with a few veggies niched in … yuk! Onion gravy? Guess what? Yep, gravy with a few bits of raw red onion floating around! Chicken casserole … two very small chicken thighs with very little meat on them, frozen chips and veg. From memory £13.95 each dish … which probably cost around £3 to produce. Trifle for desert … don’t even go there. £44 for a very second rate pub meal! Never again! The people on the next table had lasagne … my dog looked at them longingly, she thought they were eating her dinner!!!!!"
