"I visited this restaurant for a small family meal last Sunday and had a wonderful experience. I ordered the vegetarian poached egg on sourdough, topped with sautéed mushrooms and spinach, which my grandfather also tried. Both of us were quite impressed by the quality and the effort that went into our brunch. I also enjoyed a crème brûlée for dessert. While it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was still of high quality, and I would definitely recommend it. The facilities are very clean, which is essential for me, and as noted in another family member's review, there is a gender-neutral bathroom available for those who appreciate such amenities in today's world. Overall, The Bionic Chef offers a refreshing alternative to traditional city restaurants, both in terms of its location and atmosphere, making it a great spot to visit!"

"Really nice pub would return if i lived in the area. Visited for a beer and some food with wife and infant daughter, large carpark, is located at the top of the hill, staff and the locals were very welcoming. Nice selection of ales lagers and spirits. Restaurant section looked to be closed, but the lounge was bright and modern finish. Pub menu was served as per the website but they had a nice choice of specials. Had the special starter peri peri chicken samosa with pickled molis, perfect balance of curried samosa, sharp pickled mooli and spicey peri, came with an interesting almost experimental bread and charcoal garlic butter, mmm yummy main was a wholesome hearty gaint yorkshire brimmed with onion gravey and sausages dressed with a herby oil and fries on the side, was perfectly portioned for a big fella like me, may be too much for some, but a brilliant meal. Finished off with a white chocolate raspberry blondie, with a tart raspberry coolis and custard. Wife had the burger was thick and tasty, nicely seasoned. Daughter had a big portion of fish fingers and chips. Table services was efficient and friendly. Locals were nice to talk to aswell. We all left happy and full, would recommend. Parking: Big lot next to the pub would fit about 12 designated drivers Kid-friendliness: Had kids chair available, changing facilities in the disabled, large selection on the kids menu. Friendly staff, welcomed kids as well as adult. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot"

"Disappointing experience, a place we wanted to try due to the reviews being so positive. We chose the bottomless brunch and sat in the courtyard. The food was ok but my muffin was rock hard underneath the egg. The head waiter wasn’t particularly helpful and and the younger waiter I found to be a little rude. We were told to wave when ever we wanted a drink but were left outside and forgotten about. There was nobody outside as both waiters stood around and didn’t think to check. The only reason we managed to get any drinks was because the fridge and freezers etc were outside so had to ask repeatedly to have the heater on and for drinks. So not a place either of us would go to or recommend."

"I had an amazing first experience at this restaurant! My family from Antwerp, Belgium, visited, and they asked me to arrange a surprise meal for my wife, who was unaware of their presence in the UK. Booking a table was easy through Instagram since I no longer use Facebook. The staff were friendly and welcoming upon our arrival. The food was outstanding; we sampled each other's dishes to enjoy a variety of flavors. I ordered the legendary Railway Lamb, while my wife opted for the Chicken Tikka. Both dishes were bursting with fresh flavors. It was a lovely touch when the chef came over to greet us. We will definitely be returning soon to try the signature Biriyani!"

"For vegetarian options, my daughter ordered the saag paneer balti and really enjoyed it. She had plenty of choices to select from. As for parking, it was excellent with free options available. We went on a Tuesday around 6 PM, and it was relatively easy to find a parking spot. Overall, for our dine-in dinner, I would rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4. Each person spent around £10–20. I highly recommend trying the garlic naan and chips! Parking was available both in a free lot and on the street."

"The distinctive exterior gives an impression of authenticity and ambition. I never eat out these days as I’m invariably disappointed but thought I’d take a punt, just on that exterior. I can handle an alcohol free dining experience but what was on offer, drink-wise was uninspiring. I went to ‘lemon juice’ and my partner went for ‘carrot juice’. Surely it couldn’t just be lemon juice, carrot juice but it was; no frills, bog standard glassware. I imagine they prepare all their dishes in plastic takeaway tubs. A portion of meat, some veg and then rice. This makes them easy to store and reheat with portion control sorted. But to reheat it and present it on a plate still in the shape of an upturned takeaway tub wasn’t visually the most inspirational approach. Too much rice, too little flavour, too little value."

"Booked a table at 2pm online, where we were told they needed the table back at 4pm. We arrived literally a couple of minutes late due to traffic and we were greeted by a rude member of staff who told us the kitchen had closed! When I asked why they have a table available for a booking at 2pm if the kitchen is closes at the same time, the same member of staff said “we were late” and basically kicked us out. Garbage customer service and booking policy. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get any!"

"We ordered five tapas dishes to share . Four were really nice , but the pork belly was maybe overdone a bit , which made it a bit tough . I'm not one to complain on the day , so I left it at that . Service was very friendly , but a bit thin on the ground , not their fault as it seems similar everywhere you go these days . Both of our drinks were excellent , my wife had a white wine , and I had a pint of IPA . I can't really comment on the atmosphere , as it was very quiet whilst we were there , yet another sign of the times.. Would probably go again , and maybe not order the belly pork this time.."

"We arrived around 8 PM, and the place was very busy with diners and drinkers. Since we hadn’t made a reservation, we were informed there would be about a one-hour wait. This gave us the chance to enjoy a few drinks and have some conversation before our meal. Despite the wait, the chef kept track of our table, and we were seated promptly when it was ready. The menu features a mix of dishes. I ordered the pâté, while my friend had the tandoori chicken in a naan. My father enjoyed his meal, and the naan looked appetizing. For our mains, we chose the meat and potato pie served with mushy peas, and I had the roast pork with crackling and the usual vegetables. The pork was excellent, nicely cooked, and served with crispy crackling. One appealing aspect of the menu is that they offer half-portions of most main courses, which I found helpful since my wife typically prefers smaller portions. This allows her more options without feeling overwhelmed. The staff, although young, were efficient and knowledgeable. We didn’t feel rushed, and service was prompt. Overall, we had a lovely evening in this bustling restaurant. If you’re planning to dine at a specific time, I recommend making a reservation, as it tends to be busy on different days."

"We stopped by last minute on a Friday evening with a group of eight family members. Even though we hadn't made a reservation, we received a warm welcome and the staff rearranged tables to accommodate us. The food was excellent—truly home-cooked. The staff were very friendly and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. We will definitely return! Service: Dine-in Meal type: Dinner"

"I went to the restaurant last night with two friends and four young children. After spending time in the park, we arrived and the owner immediately assisted us with our strollers, arranged high chairs, and brought us jugs of water, along with plastic cups for the kids, all without us even needing to ask. The food was lovely, with everything being homemade—especially the bread and sweet potato fries, which were delicious. The owner was very accommodating for our little ones, serving their meals on plastic plates and providing takeout boxes for any leftovers. I couldn't have asked for better service."

"Great restaurant and takeaway, a real favorite for our family and the only Indian restaurant in the area we would visit. The food is amazing and the staff are great too. The restaurant is in a lovely old building where we love to take guests when we have visitors; indeed some of them insist on eating there whenever they visit us! There is a discount for collection so living locally if we don't have guests we normally collect a takeaway which is always ready at the time agreed. Vegetarian options: Range of vegetarian dishes that can be ordered as a main or a side, and an excellent vegetarian Biryani. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommendation for vegetarians: Somewhat recommend Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section, Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes"

"The food at this restaurant was decent, but the service was terrible. Three staff members were openly arguing on the floor the entire time, creating a negative atmosphere. They could really benefit from training from the Wakefield staff. I might consider ordering a takeaway in the future, but I would never dine in again. Overall rating: Food 3, Service 1, Atmosphere 1. Cost per person: £20-30. Meal type: Dinner."

"Moved to Holmbridge 3 years ago from Essex but have stayed at the Foxglove over the past 10+ years when visiting our daughter who went to Huddersfield University and is now teaching music at Holmfirth High School. If anyone visiting Huddersfield or the surrounding areas we would recommend not only the Foxglove as somewhere to stay overnight at in their great accommodation rooms but also to eat at in the evenings. Service is top class and very friendly. Food cannot be faulted which is why we always give a good tip at the end of our meal. Very good value for money and we love the open fire at this time of year (Oct) and forwards through into the New Year. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed and you will be back for more."

"This welcoming pub has tasteful decor and attentive, professional staff. The open fire was a lovely touch on a chilly day. The menu offers a great variety of food to suit everyone's tastes. The 'drink and small dessert' option was exceptional value for money. I would like to thank Suz for the recommendation. The price per person is between £20-£30. Food, service, and atmosphere all receive a perfect score of 5."

"First time visiting and what a delight this place was, super helpful and friendly waitress. The food was beautiful I have eaten all over Asia and the flavours really did make me feel like I was back there. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would definitely recommend the hot pots or slow cooked lamb coconut curry, the lamb was of good quality and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu."

"This looks like a lovely place but unfortunately we arrived as it was getting dark on a misty day. Would love to have arrived on a warm sunny with time for a drink outside before dinner. I’m trying to eat better these days and choose this place because they seemed to have a couple of starter and main vegan dishes. On arriving we were greeted nicely. And given a decent table although on my side I was somewhat in the way of a busy thoroughfare. As much as I liked the place and the staff there were a couple of issues: of the two vegan options I was told that they could not provide one of them because it took a little extra work (for proper mash if I heard correctly) and they were too busy. Apparently, I should have ordered that in advance although it says nothing on the menu on Facebook (could n’t find a website). Their second “vegan” option was a risotto with asparagus and pea and, hang on, parmesan. Clearly a substitute had not been considered. As it stood, the meal was very bland but I was too hungry not to eat it. Mum’s chicken and ham pasta dish was nice she said but nothing special. If I was not restricting my diet I would definitely try this place again though, the stuff arriving at other tables looked great, but if you are vegan I would probably ring the chef and ask about the dishes available. One other thing, no WiFi. When I asked at the bar one girl was just about to say something positive I think from the look on her face but a slightly older girl spoke over her to tell her there was no public WiFi. Funny, I thought I was a paying customer. It was a shame as there was no phone signal being so remote and there was a big game on!!! So summarising what is meant as constructive feedback it is clear that the vegan options need improving and that as a business this place needs to come into the modern day by getting a web site with more customer info and very importantly customer Wi-Fi (who does n’t have that these days? I thought the prices were very reasonable, but then again I live down south now so might not have the best local context. Hope that helps and I’ll see you another time."

"this is a beautiful pub and the atmosphere is really welcoming. we sat in the bar, but I had a look at the restaurant that looks amazing. they have a separate vegan menu with appetizers, nets, sides and gloom. I had the burger with the Broccoli side plate and it was great. I intend to try the next time all the food salad that looked really good. (and the apple crowded with crow). the service was brilliant and there was a parade of dogs that was even better! I asked for the vegan options and they brought me the separate menu, as it is only the salat listed on the entire menu."

"On a rainy Tuesday afternoon, Parish attracts a loyal following with its tasty food and great value prices. The restaurant was neat and welcoming, with a festive decor adding to the atmosphere. The menu offers a variety of options including pizzas, burgers, loaded fries, and snacks. We opted for the Pizza deal which included fresh pizza, spicy chicken wings, salt n pepper fries, and two pints of Becks for £24. To our surprise, we later found out that the midweek deal is offered for £20, making it a total steal. The food was delicious with generous portions and the staff were friendly and cheerful. Parish is not just for students, as it offers plenty of space for families and dogs. Overall, a great dining option in Huddersfield."

"If a 0 was possible then that would be my food rating for Canton Chef. We ordered Friday night, picked up no problems. On returning home we opened our food to what can only be described as oily tasteless and revolting food. The beef was absolutely appalling, the egg in the fried rice was as if it had been scraped off the bottom of an old pan, the duck, minimal, tasteless and very fatty. The salt and pepper chips were hideous just a mouth full of salt. We were so furious with the food we were tasting/looking at that it went straight into the bin and went for a plan B. Due to it being a half an hour round trip, we could not even be bothered to drive back and forth to drop off the vile food and get our money back (our choice) I would honestly say one of the worst Chinese take outs we have ever had. For the price, it left us speechless."
