"We’ve eaten at La Bistro a good 20 or 30 times now, and as the title suggests, it’s our favourite restaurant in Leeds, not just Horsforth. For context, we are a family of four with two young kids, aged 10 and 7 at the time of writing. Given that background, the things we tend to look for in a restaurant are good food, a nice environment, solid service, consistency and a tendency to cater well for kids (and for me, that’s not simply about having a kids menu; I’ll come back to that later . La Bistro ticks every single box, every single time. First and foremost, the food here is fantastic. For all of us. Personally, I’m a lover of Mediterranean food, though as much as I do try to mix things up, I struggle to get past the meat platter; it’s delicious. The menu leads with a selection of Turkish dishes, everything from hot and cold mezes to Ottoman style seafood, and this is my personal favourite section of the menu. But there’s a lot more on offer beyond that, including a wide choice of pizzas and pastas, steaks, burgers, plus a smattering of Greek favourites like stifado and moussaka. For this reason, it’s always been a go-to whenever we’ve been looking for somewhere for a big family group. We’ve had tables of around 20 adults and children, some fussier than others, and everyone has gone away happy and full. There is something for everyone, even those with certain food intolerances. Kids can choose from a smaller portion of any pizza or pasta (they’re still generous, btw! , or a selection of other options like chicken nuggets. One final word on the food, the early bird deal (which runs from Sunday to Friday until 5pm, I think! , offers two courses for something like £19 is fantastic value. Whilst I’m partial to a calamari starter, my wife loves the desserts! There’s a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. From a personal point of view, I prefer a draft beer as opposed to bottled, however the 500ml bottles of “Efes Draft” are the next best thing. The restaurant itself is modest in size and has a modern, cozy feel. Though the restaurant isn’t massive, there’s ample space between tables, and you don’t feel like you are a top of one another. It’s a nice, relaxing place to be, even when the place is busy. As good as the food is (and it truly is brilliant , what makes this place is the staff. To a person, they are absolutely fantastic. Welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. Again, no matter how busy it is. Our young daughter gets on like a house on fire with the owner, who is brilliant with both of our kids. Some time ago, my daughter drew a little sketch of him while at the table; to this day, that picture remains pinned on the wall at the back of the restaurant. Just a lovely touch, that delights our little girl every time we go back. Whenever the kids’ birthdays come around, La Bistro is always the place they ask to go. Not TGIs, not Nando’s, not Five Guys. That in itself speaks volumes, for me. A visit to La Bistro is like a warm hug from family. Every single time, bar none, we’ve walked away having thoroughly enjoyed not just the food, but the whole experience. It is consistently excellent. It’s what eating out as a family should be all about."

"We were visiting Leeds for the weekend as our son has just started Uni there and he wanted to go somewhere 'special ' so we decided on Fazenda. Having spent much time in South America, we 've eaten at several Rodizio Churrascaria types of restaurant and love the selection of meats being brought to your table. Fazenda is located in the trendy Granary Wharf, below the arches of Leeds Station, the River Aire and the Leeds Liverpool Canal. It 's a very lively place with several bars, restaurants and a very modern Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. IT 's great to see the canal boats moored up for the night just opposite and top walk across the lock gates. Getting there is very easy we took an Uber and Fazenda occupies a very large space with a welcoming entrance. We 'd booked a table for 7pm and waited at the bar for a few minutes with a drink before being seated. We were shown to our table in a very spacious annexe of the main area and told that our server would be along soon to explain the process. Walking through the restaurant past the huge 'Market Table ' and seeing the smartly dressed 'pasadores ' carrying huge skewers of grilled meats and carving them at the tables was making me very hungry indeed! Basically, your server asks how you like the meats cooked initially, then you order the hot side dishes from their menu, serve yourself at the Market Table salads, seafood, cheeses, charcuterie, pasta, potato salad, vegetables, sauces etc. and all the time you 're seated and are displaying the green side of your double sided disc, the pasadores will offer you their selection of meats cooked how you requested and carve pieces at your table that you take with the tongs provided. They also bring sausages and chicken hearts which my son loves! Once you 've had enough, just turn your disc over to the red side and the 'll pass you by. Side dishes such as fries, baked potato with garlic mayo the best I 've ever had! , breads, rice, mushrooms are all included in the cost and their menu of popular Brazilian and Argentine dishes is extensive and it 'd take several visits to try them all! All I can say is that everything we ate was delicious and the quality of the ingredients and meats were exceptional easily as good as we 've had throughout Paraguay and Brazil. Their Porco Doce sweet pork collar with honey was just sublime, as was their Picana rump cap and I didn 't have a single disappointing mouthful. The selection on the Market Table buffet was also incredible with so much choice and so much attention to detail in the presentation. All of the staff were lovely, the pasadores particularly engaging and obviously proud of their offerings. It didn 't take long before we 'd turned our discs to red, although my son managed to keep going long after my wife and I could barely move. We were too full to try a dessert but the ones I saw other diners enjoying looked amazing. There was a great atmosphere throughout the place and the staff seemed genuinely happy to work there. One thing I noticed is that they didn 't seem to be short staffed at all despite being almost full to capacity on a Friday evening, which gave the servers more time to engage with the customers. It 's not cheap £48.50 a head for the full experience but for the quality of the food, the buzzing atmosphere, excellent service and the fact that you could really eat as much as you 're able to in the 2 hour slot makes it pretty good value. They do add a 12.5% 'suggested ' serving charge as well as a small donation to charity to the bill, which you can ask to be removed apparently. Seeing as they have so many staff that did an outstanding job, I feel it was reasonable. All in all, a great dining experience in a vibrant area of Leeds and I shall certainly look forward to my next visit!"
