"Stopped here for Sunday lunch today. The White Horse was welcoming and quickly showed us to our table in the renovated stable area. Unfortunately the room was extremely cold even with my coat buttoned. On asking the waitress who was incidentally dressed in a...body warmer and had woollen gloves on) if there was any heating I was advised yes and that she would turn it up. We had ordered two turkey roasts and these were served to us minutes later….teeth chattering I couldn’t wait to tuck in. The meal was presented beautifully stacked however I could clearly see the gravy was setting and on my first bite I realised my meal was barely luke warm. The waitress asked if our food was ok just a few seconds later and although I informed her that our meals were virtually cold the response was just “ok”. Not really sure why she asked if she wasn’t interested in my response. Feeling so hungry we ate our luke warm food. The only other faultI had with it was the Yorkshire pudding which had risen to becoming just a dried up puff of wind. Not really tasty. On paying the bill for our each cold roast dinners we was asked again if our meals were ok. Once again we advised they were barely luke warm and once again the response was Ignored. Not sure why they asked, if you serve up below par at least acknowledge someone’s answer, maybe even offer a voucher for a return visit, anything but at least acknowledge. It might also be worth adding a couple of heaters in the room as the under floor heating is not up to the job. We were not the only table shivering. Toilet facilities were very clean and of a good standard, marginally warmer than in the restaurant"

"I love pubs! How many times do you hear that? I only properly discovered them 18 years ago because in France, although we have our cafes, they are nothing like pubs. I fairly quickly categorised them because when you think about it, they are all different. The best description for me for this one is a town pub full of character. I discovered it thanks to a friend and started going to hold a French Conservation group. I have only had drinks so far and believe me if you are after reasonable prices you have to go to the Gladstone. I have recently paid £2 in another place for a soda and lime. Here they charge you £0.30. And before you ask, no, it's not because it's served in a shot glass. When you enter the premises you will notice first the space. It has got room but you also can decide to sit in a smaller area. There is a fire place which is really nice especially at this time if the year. I went last Saturday to meet with a friend and we decided to have something to eat. If you want a night out but your are on restricted budget this is the place where to go. Ok the menu doesn't give you a massive choice as some do but in fact think about it, it won't take you too long to make your decision. The choice is good and the prices quite low. If you are vegetarian they certainly have thought about you. I am not but to be fair I've always wondered why the choices seem to be so restricted for those who are when eating out? I ended with the chilly beef and cheese. I like the fact you can choose to have it with rice or bread. The serving is good and I really enjoyed it. It was very tasty. The staffs work hard, are very pleasant and easy to interact with which is exactly what you want in a pub. It's a place with great atmosphere. And if you enjoy watching tv in a pub this is certainly the place where to go. It was a very reasonable and enjoyable night out. I'll be back!"
