"My wife and I went for a meal to celebrate our 25th (Silver) wedding anniversary. Things started ok, ordered the seafood sharing platter for starters. I had a pasta dish, my wife the lamb shank (at £25). The starter came and it was really very good. Here is the end of the good bits! My pasta dish was fine, nothing special, but perfectly fine. However, my wife 's slow cooked lamb which should after 6hrs (as claimed) be falling off the bone, wasn 't. In fact it couldn 't be prised off of it! Unfortunately the waiter or manager checked on us quite soon after our meals were brought out. I said mine was fine but my wife stayed silent as she wasn 't yet sure. But the time I 'd eaten mine, my wife had given up with well over half of the lamb remaining on the bone. When he came over to clear the plates my wife said that she was unable to eat the lamb as it was so tough and sinewy still. He didn 't seem very happy with us for saying anything negative about the food so she demonstrated to him and he finally agreed it shouldn 't be like that and took the plate away. From then on we were pretty much ignored, no apology, no offer of a different dish or anything. After 20 minutes we were asked if we wanted desserts, at first we said yes until we discovered there was nothing we wanted so asked for the bill. He took £9 off the bill for a £25 dish that my wife couldn 't eat. Then when we said that we didn 't expect to pay for that dish he argued with us and said my wife was wrong, there was nothing wrong with it and that it was our fault! Not wishing to completely ruin our anniversary, we paid and went elsewhere for a lovely dessert! We won 't be back! Awful service, rude, arrogant manager, below average food."

"I’ve eaten in a lot of burger joints and smoke houses across the US and UK. This place is on a par with the best I have eaten in. As we are in the UK, if you know restaurants like Almost Famous, Bleeker St, Flank or Burger Beyond then this place is on a par or better than those guys. If Five Guys is your idea of the ultimate burger, then you need to go to Jack n Grill and they will re-educate you. It’s a family restaurant and while the decor/set up is basic (don’t expect to see guitars or Canoes hanging off the walls like typical US style eateries) the welcome is superb with friendly staff and locals and good music. The food is genuinely sublime. You will need a few visits to get through the ridiculous number of burger options. Regular hand made burgers with Pretzel buns (awesome) or smashed burgers (5 guys style thinner burgers) or chicken burgers. There must be over 60 options. I had the Elvis. Regular burger with peanut butter and bacon with a chilli jam and it was one of the best burgers I’ve tasted. Add to this the huge variety of loaded fries (I had the nacho fries) and the variations are endless! Feedback from the group of ten of us was universally positive. People of Hampshire , you have one of the most innovative and delicious burger restaurants in the UK on your doorstep. You should be queuing round the block to get in this place and I think you will be once the word gets out."
