"If I could have given this restaurant 3 1/2 stars, I would. However I have generously marked up. My husband and my son really enjoyed their food, however I was disappointed. My starter of gravadlax was lovely and fresh and I really enjoyed it. However my main, sea bass, (although in a beautiful sauce with lovely samphire, was pinky brown and tough. I don’t know what was wrong with it, I have never had sea bass like that before. Maybe it had been frozen previously or wasn’t very fresh. They tried to cook it some more but it was still the same. To be fair I was not charged for this item, however I had no real main course to eat and was mostly sat watching my husband and son! My second mistake was to order the panna cotta for dessert. I’ve never had such a bland, watery panna cotta, with a weird texture. Taking pity on me, my husband swapped and gave me his dessert. I can’t remember the name of what it was but it was maybe a lemon curd tart with some kind of dark fruit? Anyway, it was absolutely delicious. Tangy scrumptious filling and lovely pastry. So at least I got to eat something nice! The proprietor and staff were lovely to us and our dog. I’m afraid I wouldn’t go back though."

"We had the best Sunday lunch visit to Martin and Lisa’s at Comyn Farm whilst on holiday in Devon. The food, service and setting were all amazing. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived and Nelson was guarding our table! Had a great local beer on draught and the food was lovely and one of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. Nice to hear where it was grown and I am glad I didn’t have breakfast as there was so much! It was clearly a family affair, with everyone involved, which it made it even more special and endearing. Had a final surprise when the bill came and I could believe what value for money the whole experience was. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good traditional Sunday lunch in an amazing setting with a great family."

"I have never tried so delicious, fresh, crispy, well cut fish and chips in my life! my man originates from a fishing town in Europe, so he really understands what a big fish and chips is. I will be honest with them his pretty hard to please him, we have tried many places all over the country and none of them was so great! Personally I myself, I have no pleasure on fish and chips, but I must say after I fish in top chippy and chips became a real joy for me! I have never tried so delicious, fresh, crispy, well cut fish and chips in my life! the fish was delicious, you could say it was fresh and the coating was somewhat amazing! it is not olny eating that impressed us, the personal was absolutely true host! we had a 3 year old daughter with us and they were so friendly, giving her a free softdrink. the shop is next to the village church and there is a picnic table, so they can simply eat and enjoy beautiful scenery while eating! I will be honest with them, his old I was at a place like this, where the food quality is important, not bite and the business personal cares for them. his unique place and I wish them all good for success in the future. I can promise that we will come back unambiguously during a visit to this area. - yes. monika"

"I would have loved to loved this place. The staff are lovely and attentive despite being busy: it’s just a food that has room to improve. The meat eaters may have better luck am pescatarian so limited to prawns and vegetarian husband… well, I can see he would have enjoyed a more substantial portions and options after a day of walking. And packaged salad leaves or bread rolls… I know we are in the country side… but please..little details like this are : … I suppose it’s “traditional Spanish tapas”.. but lack of vegetarian options even manchego cheese for protein.. anything) in the with considerable vegetarian population) UK is a shame…am sure a little creativity in this aspect would make this place superb. I suppose in Lynton the idea is that there’s enough travellers to fill the tables anyway… but it would be nice."

"I first came across Lush Bar Restaurant in Barnstaple during a holiday in October 2022. I had tried to quickly research somewhere that did a tasty Sunday roast and also allowed dogs and this place came up had decent reviews. On that first visit last year, I stopped by and asked if a table was available and was quickly accommodated at a large table inside near the window. I was clearly lucky on that day with there being a spare table. I ordered their vegetarian roast which came with the usual trimmings (roast potatoes, root vegetables and a large Yorkshire Pudding and extras to include green beans, cabbage and a generous portion of cauliflower cheese. As I am holiday again in the area, I had decided I would like to re visit and have Sunday roast here considering it was still offered. I popped in 2 days earlier to make a booking and was advised to book online and requested the lower bar area as this is the section that allows dog. I arrived 5 10 mins early today as like to be on time and was told there were no tables free despite having just accommodated another table of 2 with a dog in that section (they had not booked). I explained once again that I had booked the lower bar area and was happy to wait for the time slot booked, the front of house lady checked my booking details and asked me to wait. I saw her asking another table of 2 to move to the restaurant area so that I could be given their table which was in the section I had booked. Therefore the initial experience on this repeat visit was not ideal or friendly service from front of house lady. I ordered the veggie roast again which I enjoyed but not as much as last time. The actual nut roast lacked flavour, the potatoes was over done and not as soft inside, less veggie gravy provided (probably could have tried to ask for me) and reduced portion size for the cauliflower cheese. This is clear from the photos from last years visit when compared to today. On this visit I also stayed for a dessert and chose the Lush brownie this was a nice choice and was not only well presented but tasty. Getting the bill today required having to ask twice so service was not ideal today but would still consider choosing Lush next time. I think customers who have booked should not be left feeling they are being turned away."

"Booking a table proved a bit of a marathon, with three phone calls going straight to voice message saying you can't leave a message so phone back and two e-mails going unacknowledged..... Fourth call got through tho'. Not sure what we were expecting from the...pictures and reviews but the pub had loads of parking nearby and a reasonably level access into the pub from the car park. Equally unsure about the new refurbishment as it seems to have eliminated most if not all of the character of the pub. Sunday lunch was just barely ok. The beef was flavoursome, if a little tough. Presentation was a little haphazard , perhaps. The Nut Roast vegetarian option looked a mess but was apparently more than acceptable. The service by the young and pleasant staff was perfectly fine, if a little slow at times. All in all, and taking into account the fact that the Ilfracombe area on a Sunday in early November is a bit of a culinary desert, everything was decent enough but nothing to shout out Gosh, that was good'. Would we ever go back? Pretty certainly not. And lastly, we were overcharged, which I did not notice until later. I do hope it was a genuine error as overcharging by whatever means did seem to be rather common during our three day stay in Ilfracombe. The venerable change for a tenner when a twenty was given happened twice during our stay......."

"A very nice restaurant with a few different vegan options. We tried the tempeh burgers which came with fries and onion rings. Our children had the tomato pasta. Unfortunately the kids pasta cake minus a garlic bread which was offered with the non-vegan option. Tasty food though and very good, friendly service. Nice place!"

"The service was outstanding. Greeted as we approached the entrance (by Sean) who looked after us the entire evening like we the only guests, accommodating our needs and food intolerance's. I expected the menu to have to be tailored but every effort was made not...to omit but substitute as close to the original order (Fried onions for onions) Also, when one of the young girls wasn't sure of smoked sauce flavour, a sample was brought from the kitchen for out approval and subsequent order. Food and portions were delicious and large and I'd say fairly priced based on quality and size. (If I were to be ultra picky I'd say the Merlot was not as full bodied as I'd prefer I should have gone for a Malbec) The atmosphere was warm and family friendly. Sean even offered to help take our photos to be added to our holiday. I've never had service this good. Best get there early and book a table. The place started fill after we arrived. Definite recommendation."

"We popped into this pub for a drink whilst travelling around North Devon (staying in Woolacombe . It is a visually a very attractive pub with a thatched roof. We checked to see if dogs were welcome and the staff confirmed they were (except the designated restaurant although there is a dining section in the bar area where you can take dogs . We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The range of drinks are great and prices reasonable. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day for their Carvery lunch. WOW it is awesome!! A choice of lamb, turkey and pork was on offer that day, and a generous portion given. A superb selection of vegetables were on offer with yorkies, gravy and sauces. All for £10.95. The very best carvery we have had for a long time (if not ever! . Highly recommended for just a drink and/or food as well."

"If you find yourself anywhere remotely near Barnstaple and are looking for a place where you will be welcomed with open arms and fed amazing home cooked food at a great price then step into the cosy interior of The Castle Inn at Landkey where Creighton, Carly, Darren and the team will ensure that you leave with a full tummy and a smile on your face! We had the pleasure of eating Sunday lunch there today and I only wish I’d thought to take a photo of our fabulous plates of food before we devoured every mouthful. Succulent 27 hour cooked roast beef that melted in the mouth (yes, the other reviewers really don’t exaggerate about how fabulous this is! was accompanied by yummy roasties plus one of the biggest Yorkshire puds we’d ever seen all served with a tasty gravy and a lovely bowl of freshly prepared parsnips, carrots, broccoli, red cabbage and peas. Don’t hesitate to visit if you need gluten free, vegetarian or have an allergy nothing was too much trouble and the staff will guide you through what you can have. The delicious vegetarian tart was accompanied by all the trimmings and a separate veggie gravy which was also eaten with relish. All of the above was washed down with a friendly chat with Creighton who personally stopped by to check we were enjoying our meal and to see if there was anything else we needed to enhance our dining experience…there wasn’t but it was great to know that any requests would be welcomed and accommodated immediately. We will definitely visit again next time we are in the area and we only have 2 regrets: firstly, we were too full to have one of the fantastic sounding desserts and secondly, that we only discovered this lovely gem of a place on the last day of our holiday! See you soon and thanks for a lovely experience. Jan and Ian"

"We left absolutely full, and very happy. My daughter had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup...they were HUGE, 3 massive pancakes with 2 rashers of bacon, butter and a jug of syrup. She couldn't finish it, although it was so tasty. I had the chicken salad, again a big bowl full generous with the chicken and a nice mixed salad with plenty of tomatoes and peppers etc in it too. Also, an Oreo milkshake and a coffee . The only disappointment was the coffee which I found to be slightly bitter for my taste, but others may be fine with it, just a personal taste/preference thing. Service was quick, and staff friendly. I hope it is busy for them, it's a bit tucked away up in the High Street for a lot of the tourist trade who seem to stay down by the Quay, it's well worthwhile going up to the High Street to visit this place."

"This was my first time dining at Fullam, based on a friend's recommendation, and it certainly lived up to the hype. The service, menu, and food quality were all superb. The only drawback was not being able to leave a tip on a credit card. Since we don't typically carry cash, we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't show our appreciation in that way. We kindly suggest a change in your policy. Despite this minor inconvenience, we still plan on returning to Fullam in the future."

"Booked here for my partner's 50th birthday and mentioned in advance. On the evening the restaurant had done nothing to make it special which was really sad as it's a big milestone birthday. Service in general was haphazard, with us needing to ask for wine glasses. The food was incredibly expensive for what it was. We live locally and have been here in the past and noticed the large price increase this year. Sadly alongside that the quality went down. And £18 for a Bellini is ridiculous. Overall I wouldn't recommend here anymore as what you get isn't anything special, and they won't go out of their way to make you feel special either, no matter the occasion."

"Very friendly service and the food just melts in your mouth. I had the notorious P.I.G and OMG I am in love .It literally falls apart in your mouth and is definitely one of the best things I have ever tasted. It's also very filling too. Would definitely go back again xxx"

"I popped in for a pint having spent the day at the Classic Car Show. I asked if I could pay with a £20 note, knowing that some pubs don’t take cash anymore. What I got in reply from presumably the Landlord/manager, was sarcastic comments about how “we’ve never seen a £20 note in the West Country before” (I’m from Ilfracombe, half an hours drive away. With his thick cockney accent, I wonder what part of the West Country he’s from?! He then short changed me and joked about putting the pound in the tips jar. He might have been ‘showing off’ to a couple of locals sat at the bar but having worked in hospitality myself, his attitude stank! There is a reason his pub was empty on what should have been the busiest day of the year for him. Don’t bother, there are far more welcoming pubs down the hill in Lynmouth."

"Unfortunately, I was very disappointed after our meal on Saturday night. we had booked for us as soon as we set ourselves and ordered our drinks, the food was laid before us! eating a bit early, because the fajitas do not advertise as if served. that was cold. the burgers came and they were cold. the only warm part was the chips. the workers seemed very unhappy in the jobs, only to ask mayonnaise was a lot annoyed! After they don't complain and eat the food, we guessed we couldn't share it in couples that we had to work out everything and tell them what we wanted to pay for. begin to see some problems with our bill. charged for a bottle of wine and beer that we didn't have, so they changed it. still very expensive to see that they had accused us twice for our eating. After almost minutes we got the last bill and was worth what it was not yet with the food and service we had received. I understand that mistakes happen, but all the time was very not helpful, no excuse for the problems or inconvenience! unfortunately we will not return."

"We booked for my sons birthday and paid a deposit to secure the table. We asked that the a la carte menu would be available as it was a Sunday and were told that it was. Turns out it wasn’t. The manager was extremely rude, and unaccommodating for a diabetic who cannot eat heavy Sunday roasts. The food was a satisfactory roast but nothing to write home about. The mussels were just warm served with stale bread, no butter or fries. In my view highly over rated, we shall not be returning!"

"We went for an evening meal here because it said they were dog friendly. We had our 4 year grandson with us and found to our dismay when we arrived that dogs were not welcome inside. We all sat in the garden and ordered our food. It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. It was cold outside by the time it came and our grandson was tired of waiting and no longer hungry. When we asked if the food was coming they said that they had a very small kitchen and the restaurant always took priority. I have to say the restaurant had only a couple of people eating so I'm not sure why we're weren't served quicker. We were all cold and fed up by the time the very average) food came. Not a good experience!! Saying you are dog friendly was a little misleading. Dogs welcome outside would be a better statement. Sorry but can't recommend this pub."
"We love The Riverside! The staff are effortlessly friendly and always offer the warmest of welcomes. The service is relaxed yet attentive and professional. and the food? well what can I say, just back from enjoying one of their legendary Sunday lunches and as always it exceeded expectations. Home-cooked with sophisticated little twists and beautifully executed. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and they do it so well!"

"A brilliant little inn! Arrived later than the posted check in time, but let the innkeepers know. They accommodated us very well and understood we would be travelling a long way. Arrived around 2130 and they had unfortunately suffered a power cut, to no fault of their own. We were greeted very politely and was shown to our room via torchlight. The owners couldn’t have been more apologetic about the power failure but nevertheless the room was spotless, neat and tidy. We came down to the bar for drinks and had some lovely draught cider. The bar was full of friendly people and during our drinks the power was restored. Our sleep was very peaceful and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk. Fresh orange juice was also available. The shower/toilet was very modern with a lovely warm shower and shampoo included. Our towels were very clean and soft, which matched the supplied house coats found in the cupboard. Breakfast was served at 8am. With cereals, fruit, yogurt and berries on the bar. Our waitress came over and took our hot breakfast order. Available was bacon, sausage, egg, hogs pudding, mushroom, beans, toast etc. Breakfast was very nice and served in good time. Checkout was easy and would have loved to have stayed a second night but I was away on business. I will definitely stay again as it is great value for money. Thank you!"
