"A brilliant little inn! Arrived later than the posted check in time, but let the innkeepers know. They accommodated us very well and understood we would be travelling a long way. Arrived around 2130 and they had unfortunately suffered a power cut, to no fault of their own. We were greeted very politely and was shown to our room via torchlight. The owners couldn’t have been more apologetic about the power failure but nevertheless the room was spotless, neat and tidy. We came down to the bar for drinks and had some lovely draught cider. The bar was full of friendly people and during our drinks the power was restored. Our sleep was very peaceful and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee with fresh milk. Fresh orange juice was also available. The shower/toilet was very modern with a lovely warm shower and shampoo included. Our towels were very clean and soft, which matched the supplied house coats found in the cupboard. Breakfast was served at 8am. With cereals, fruit, yogurt and berries on the bar. Our waitress came over and took our hot breakfast order. Available was bacon, sausage, egg, hogs pudding, mushroom, beans, toast etc. Breakfast was very nice and served in good time. Checkout was easy and would have loved to have stayed a second night but I was away on business. I will definitely stay again as it is great value for money. Thank you!"

"We love The Riverside! The staff are effortlessly friendly and always offer the warmest of welcomes. The service is relaxed yet attentive and professional. and the food? well what can I say, just back from enjoying one of their legendary Sunday lunches and as always it exceeded expectations. Home-cooked with sophisticated little twists and beautifully executed. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and they do it so well!"

"Came here for Valentines Day for the first time since the new owners took over and I’ve got to say I was well impressed with the food and the service from start to finish. Will definitely be back! Great menu choices that were reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere and the food was absolutely sublime. It was clear to see that the staff would go above and beyond. If you’re a looking for a new pub to try for some grub or if you’re on holiday and looking for somewhere nice to go that will accept dogs then this is your place to go!!"

"We were looking forward to our date night at this restaurant because we had heard great things about the food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed as the food was only average. The bartender who served us was the rudest waitress I've ever encountered. It was clear she was in a bad mood from the moment we arrived. She lacked customer service skills and was unfriendly towards us and other customers. She didn't even thank us when we paid our bill. The quality of the food was underwhelming, as it seemed like the mushrooms and sautéed potatoes were from the freezer. Overall, we were highly disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant. It would have been nice to receive a thank you for our custom after paying a £60 bill. It seems like the staff could improve their approachability to better serve customers. It appears that the restaurant doesn't handle criticism well, as evidenced by other reviews mentioning rude staff. We did not receive any inquiry about our meal, but had we been asked, we would have shared that it was not great. We couldn't wait to leave the restaurant."

"I recommend to everyone and everyone to visit squires! please don't let them look really chic and wait for them to put out, the value ratio is amazing, it looks expensive and from outside I thought it was too posh for us lol, but it's pure quality, and anywhere where the people squeal to get into talking volumes. we came before the busy times both nights and managed to get in right. in the inner awaits a really friendly relaxed culinary experience. we ate there 2 nights while on holiday after we recommended to eat there. we can thoroughly recommend the fish and chips and the hot and spicy chicken burgers. we don't have anything that suits us!"

"Very nice staff nice atmosphere and the best scones ever. The cakes looked so nicely I could not decide what to have so they gave me a mix cream tea! The staff is very nice and the homemade scone was still warm from the hoven. Definetly a local cafe to try."

"Bad Experience we had high hopes for this restaurant but it is just not executed well. Ordered the Bread board, olives and tomato salad for starters. Half the bread was hard and stale, and the other half looked like it hadn't been baked enough. The tomato salad which was £9.95 for not even a whole tomato with 2 croutons, it was also so overloaded with poppy seeds and it tasted awful. The Pinot Grigio Blush, I was served was really cheap quality and looked more like a Zinfandel. I did ask the Waitress to check but she advised it was the correct wine although the bill did say House Rosa so I'm not sure it was the right wine. Dinner arrived and my husband's burger was fine, I had a fish dish that was more like a curry but was offered chips with it, there was no rice. Nothing was served well and whilst the meal tasted pleasant, I really didn't want a bowl of basically soup for my main meal. Added to the fact, we waiting 45 minutes to pay the bill and that was only because my husband went and found someone we could pay. Understaffed, inexperienced and just not cutting it as a decent restaurant. We also spoke to another couple leaving the restaurant and they had also had a bad meal! I would give it a miss and go somewhere else, we won't be going again. Unfortunately it probably gets by with holiday makers having a one off meal, as you won't go back if you lived local. It's ashame as it's a good location."

"We arrived at this restaurant just after 9am. I ordered the large breakfast which came with a choice of tea or coffee. The coffee was small, but tasty. We had a second cup, which was a bit larger and also delicious. The prices for the coffee were reasonable. However, I think the large breakfast could have been more generous, especially with the thin sausages. I would have preferred thicker, locally sourced sausages. My wife ordered the small breakfast, which was a good size but had the same thin sausages. Overall, the food was tasty and the café had a clean and tidy atmosphere. It was full of locals, which gave it a nice vibe."

"Just got back from a fabulous meal at Hobb’s Bistro- it’s our final night away and thought it was time to try something new as we have been to Croyde many times over the years but never tried the bistro. The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh and flavoursome, the team were so lovely and friendly, the perfect atmosphere (especially for us with a 4 week old) they were super accommodating with the buggy and we had plenty of room. Both myself and my husband said that this was our favourite meal of our time away! We will definitely be returning and bringing the rest of the family too- thank you!"

"This is a delightful pub off the main drag of Braunton that serves great Indian food. We visited on a busy Thursday evening. Service was a bit slow but that was probably because the kitchen may have been overwhelmed. The waiting staff and owner were all very attentive and friendly. The starters were great and very generous so make sure you leave room for the main course. The main courses are served in a novel way with the curry served on the dinner plate you'll eat from instead of from a serving bowl. This is a shame as it discourages people to share and taste each others food. Apart from that I would recommend this place if you want a reasonably priced and tasty curry when you are in the area."

"One of the best Italian meals I've had outside of Italy! Every dish was delicious, and all four of my family members enjoyed it, including my two picky eaters! The fact that we all finished our plates says a lot about how good the food was. We will definitely be back when we return to Ilfracombe. Thank you for providing such a wonderful meal on the last night of our holiday!"

"Called in here for fish n chips as we were reliably informed these were the best in the area. We certainly weren’t disappointed! There was a large queue outside which is always a good sign you’re in the right place! We wanted to eat inside so put one person in the queue, the rest of us went to secure some tables in the rear where the seating area is. The menu is standard fish n chip bar menu with some decent seating indoors if you don’t want to take away. I had the chips which were amazing, not too greasy and very tasty! A fish cake which was also top quality and a jumbo sausage which again was very good. Based on this experience I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, despite being really busy service was fast and the place was clean and tidy."

"After we have read so many great critikens and are new in the opposite, we thought we would treat ourselves with a farewell of gurkha. my man had the Himalaya lamb he thought was delicious. dissapointingly, I had the swadiloo chicken, that was one of the worst chicken curries I've ever eaten. the huh was swedish and very cheap, and the soss was like tomatensuppe. unfortunately we will not come back to visit again. the garlic nan was nice. when my man had enjoyed his star."

"We ordered a large amount of food for delivery from The Hub, including pizzas, garlic bread, and chips. The online ordering process was simple, with a comments section for dietary requirements. Two of our group are vegan, and the restaurant accommodated this. Delivery times were on schedule, and the driver was friendly. We were pleased to see that the delivery car was electric. Unfortunately, the vegan pizzas were missing from the order, but the restaurant quickly rectified the mistake. They redelivered the entire order, along with a bottle of prosecco, showing exceptional customer service. The food was delicious, with tasty toppings and fresh pizza crust. The chips were particularly good. Well done, The Hub, your efforts deserve recognition."

"I only visited trip advisor to pull off the number to book for the weekend and I was intrigued by several less than positive reviews. We 've been going there for about seven years both to eat in and for takeaways (especially during COVID). Great place, brilliant food and friendly and attentive staff. Living in Devon but working often in London I 've experienced a number of well known and highly acclaimed Indian Restaurants in town and these aren 't a patch on the Chumleigh Tandori. The decor may be a little dated but give me good food and good service at reasonable prices over paint any time!"

"The booking was for a special family celebration. The service was impeccable throughout the whole process from booking through to the meal. The carvery was fantastic with a great selection of meats and veggies. The only negatives were the vegetarian and vegan options provided. The vegetarians received sad looking/tasting veggie lasagnes. The vegan dish was like a side salad of stir fried veg- all disappointing considering the advance notice provided (and an offer to provide ideas/veggie roasts ourselves). This was disappointing however the customer service provided by the staff made up for this and this is a point so easy to remedy too (recommended action to reflect the changing trends/customer needs in the food industry)"

"absolutely wonderful meal and service by patent, nicole, nick and tom. we came twice for my birthday week stay on the grange. the place is lovely and the Tandoori chicken we had on the day was a delicious! On Thursday we had the beer that was stuffed with curry sauce and that was sensational. patent could not do enough for us, she was wonderful. she even delivered flowers and prosecco with julie (julie was also delightful) to our lodge on my birthday that had ordered my family home, and flowers from my man also. nicole was a beautiful young lady, very chatting and sociable, pleasant and happy. nick had a great feeling of humor and was also very professional and tom. Nothing was too much annoyed for her. we had a few delays between the meals, the kitchen was a little slow. but the dinners were nice. the customer service has worked out to ask for everyone. the wine menu was very good and also cocktails."

"Absolutely fantastic food! We'd just had a 6 hour drive and this pizza did not disappoint! 4 adults all happy and full. I had the chevre chaud added meatballs, it was amazing. Would definitely recommend! We were the last customers of the night and the food was as fresh and exceptional as if we were the first."

"We ventured into the pub out of curiosity because of it's age whilst walking down the street. We were not disappointed with the look and the decor. The landlady and landlord were very friendly and even though the landlord was extremely busy, he gave my 6 and 10 year olds plenty of time answering their many questions they had about their pub including about the extra visitors... They were still talking about it a few days afterwards. Oh yes, the drinks we had, including the cider, were excellent. We would have had lunch but we never had time. We will return the next time we are in Ilfracombe."

"Overpriced food. Lack lustre. Very disappointing. £17 for a 'slice ' of vegetarian lasagne and some skinny fries. That 's it no salad, veg, peas?? Dry, pale cheese topping. Only just very warm, not hot. Where was the slightly caramelised top layer of gooey cheese and pasta edges? Solid chunks of hard courgettes. The skinny fries were the best bit. Soooo overpriced. Like a microwave meal only sliced. Hunters Chicken, same price. Did at least have a salad effort with it. Measliest bit of chicken, with limp bacon. Prime location. Get a chef in if charging these prices for café food! Sorry but you are taking the proverbial. Won 't return. Shame. And £7.50 for bog standard desert option? Didn 't go there."
