"We’ve been coming down to Lynton and Lynmouth for years, eaten in most places and have always wanted to try this lovely tea room and cafe in Lynton, The Picnic Box. Our family of 6 enjoyed their wonderful Traditional Ploughman’s lunch with a selection of meats, local cheese and a slice of homemade quiche (which was delicious , lots of sandwiches and homemade soups catered to the whole family’s taste. Their cakes on the counter kept tempting us throughout lunch, so we had to order a few slices to try out. All homemade and absolutely delicious. We had a freshly made slice of Caramel Shortbread, a cream tea (the scones were so fluffy and light! and a slice of Chocolate Orange cake Mary Berry would be proud of! We will definitely be back, it’s a must stop for lunch in Lynton!"

Food and service excellent, as well as incredibly good value too! I can see why the ratings are so high on trip advisor. Think you should put your prices up, it’s worth it!

Had a delicious lunch of quiche and salad, pots of tea. Enjoyed it so much we went back in the afternoon for tea and homemade cake. A lovely tearoom with excellent food and attentive staff all at a reasonable price. Well done ladies you're doing a fantastic job.

If you are visiting Lynton this is a MUST visit. First class service, wonderfully clean and the most excellent food served by the two most pleasant ladies. Very attentive and obviously care about their small business, prices indeed very reasonable and affordable. Oh, a small point to add, the food is delicious. Well done ladies.

Hands down this is the best place to eat lunch or brunch in Lynton town. Everything we had from soup to quiche to cream tea was perfection. The two women who serve are always so friendly and helpful. The prices are so reasonable and the portions are just right. We will return here again and again when visiting Lynton. Our one surprise is that there is never a queue out the door.

Have passed many times but decided to stop for lunch at the end of October. Two lovely sisters run the cafe and everything is cooked on the premises and to an extremely high standard. The cafe and everything in it is sparkling clean too. We were spoilt for choice. Homemade cakes on the counter tempted us and together with the rest of our lunch, was superb! Definitely won’t be our last visit. Well done girls

Visited as a family of four; 2 adults, 2 children. one is a coeliac and one is a vegetarian so it can be difficult to eat out! The Picnic Box was wonderful for all of our needs. Delicious cakes, coffee was great, then we took some lunch to take away. Great range of gluten free cakes and sandwiches, coeliac friendly. For the non gluten free, the cakes were amazing and the crusty baguettes were so tasty. Very comfy and cosy place and we can’t wait to return!
